Let me give you an example with American Delta, which I fly with most often: I know that I can always get exactly one cent for their miles. But I do this extremely rarely. By using my delta miles much more often, I get one and a half to two cents in economy, and two to four cents.

For example, from Singapore to Kagoshima with a transfer in Seoul on Korean Airlines I took 40,000 miles. Its cash value is $1,400 - $1,500. It turns out I got three and a half cents for every mile!

First class tickets are usually even better deals (since they are even more expensive). For example, first class NY - Hong Kong costs more than 17 thousand dollars! Taking it at 67,500 miles gave me almost 26 cents per mile! What a pity that these prices no longer exist.

Of course, it’s not entirely correct to think so - after all, I would never in my life spend 17 thousand dollars on a one-way air ticket, which means I wouldn’t save so much money by getting this ticket for miles. But still, this serves as some kind of basis for assessing the benefits of this or that “free” ticket.

There is a website, thepointsguy.com, that estimates the base cost of airline miles and points from different companies every month. For example, here is their report for July 2017. They value Delta miles at 1.2 cents (I, as we have seen, can get more for them), Flying Blue (KLM/Airfrance program) are valued at 1.3 cents, Singapore Airlines - at 1.5 (I am flying their “cabins” this year "got about 10 cents a mile!), and so on.

Unfortunately, the site is American and they cannot track all the airlines in the world, so Aeroflot is not included in their lists. That is why I was wondering how much Aeroflot miles cost on average? I've booked their flights a couple of times (once in their business class seat next to me), but always with Delta miles. So own experience I don’t have Aeroflot miles.

So I tried to figure it out using the example of a flight from New York to Moscow and back, comparing tickets in mid-September. Economy is $625, or 70,000 miles plus $125 in fees. It turns out that we save only $500, getting a measly 0.7 cents per mile.

1. Basic conditions

2. Rules for earning miles for flights

2.4. If the flight distance is less than 500 miles, then 500 miles will be credited to the participant’s personal account. 2.5. For clients who are granted the Elite level, additional non-qualifying points are awarded. The calculation is carried out for all flights made by Aeroflot or a partner company.

2.6. If the ticket is paid for at a fare that is not included in the promotion, bonus points will not be awarded.

2.7.In the manner determined by the program, it is possible to accrue qualifying miles for all flights performed within six months before the start of participation in the promotion. This condition applies to all Aeroflot flights whose fares are included in the promotion. In order for these flights to be credited to the participant’s balance, you need to use the “Accrue miles” subsection located in the main menu of the program website. 2.10. Rules for crediting miles if the flight was used by a partner company: only miles for flights that were made after joining the loyalty program are taken into account. Award tickets, tickets at special rates, charter flights and flights under partner codes are not included in the program. This applies to companies that are not part of SkyTeam alliance. There are also certain restrictions on the accrual of miles on flights operated with partner airlines.

2.11. If an Aeroflot route, like that of its partner, was canceled due to difficult meteorological, technical or other reasons, bonuses for a ticket that was not used will not be transferred.

2.12. Miles are calculated only according to the distance actually traveled by the participant. This is true in cases where there is an involuntary transfer of a passenger or final route different from planned. This condition applies to partners and Aeroflot itself.

2.13. If the flight is canceled and the passenger is transferred to a flight operated by a non-participating company, bonus miles will not be accrued.

In order for miles to be credited automatically, the date of birth and full name must be entered. in the booked data corresponded to those specified during registration in the program. If bonus points are not credited within the established period of ten days, the passenger must act in accordance with paragraph No. 3. 3.

3. Refund of miles for completed flights

3.1. Refund of miles for completed flights is provided no later than three months after the end of the flight. 3.2. Within a period of less than 14 days after the end of the flight, the participant is obliged to enter information about the Aeroflot flight into the “Accrue miles” section, which is located in the Personal Account of the program website, after which bonus miles will be awarded after passing the verification. Enrollment will be carried out automatically no later than 5 calendar days from the moment the form is filled out.

3.3. The client can use the “Feedback” form, which is located on the Aeroflot portal, or fill out an application for a refund of flights that were not taken into account, and submit it at the company’s office along with documents for the flight. In this situation, bonuses will be credited to the client’s account no later than 30 days. This option can also be used for flights of partner airlines.

3.4. Necessary documentation for calculating bonus miles upon completion of a flight on an Aeroflot flight

  1. Using e-ticket– original or copy itinerary receipt(which indicates: ticket number, flight number, booking class, flight date), a printed booking sheet with the obligatory indication of the ticket number and originals or copies of boarding passes.

3.5. Required documentation for crediting bonus miles after flying with a partner company:

3.6. Aeroflot does not provide guarantees for crediting miles if the necessary flight documentation is missing.

4. Reinstatement of miles for flights made with a partner company

4.1. All miles that a client is entitled to for flights or services provided by partner Aeroflot are governed by agreements between these two companies.

4.2. All miles that will be credited to the participant based on the results of flights and work performed by the partner company will be considered non-qualifying. These points can be used to earn rewards and cannot be used to upgrade a member to the elite level.

4.3. Any bonus miles will be awarded only for flights and services that were made after the passenger joined the promotion. 4.4. If a member uses a product, service or flight taking into account the use of bonus miles, then no additional bonuses are awarded for this product, service or flight.

4.5. Upon presentation of a member card, bonus miles will be automatically credited within 60 days after payment for purchased services or goods.

4.6. If the promotion partner uses devices for reading card data for accounting and registration, it must be presented before paying for the product or service. If this action was not performed, it will be impossible to restore bonus miles.

3.4.7. If bonus miles have not been credited to the personal account for services performed by partners or goods purchased from him, then the client must provide a document that confirms the fact of provision of the service or purchase of goods - a receipt, reservation sheet, etc. You will need to send an application for the return of bonus points to Aeroflot, attaching supporting documents. Problem situations that occurred no later than 12 months before the client’s request will be considered, with the exception of situations provided for in other agreements.

5. Duration of miles validity
