Do you need to get to Egypt without spending a lot of money on paperwork? There is an excellent solution - the Sinai visa in 2019, which was specially designed for those who do not have an extra $15. The Sinai stamp can be placed in your passport, but this option will make further movement around Egypt a little more difficult.

Where does the Sinai stamp apply?

Depending on the purpose for which you are traveling to the country, you can choose whether such an entry permit is suitable for you.

If there is such a note in the passport:

  • it will be valid for no more than 15 days;
  • If you have such a permit, you cannot move freely throughout Egypt.

With such a visa, you can only travel around South Sinai: these are the shores of the Red Sea from Taba to Sharm el-Sheikh, and forty kilometers inland, including Dahab. You can visit the monastery of St. Catherine, as well as visit Mount Moses and Taba.

You can also save fifteen dollars when visiting Sharm el-Sheikh, because you don’t need a mandatory visa to Sharm: you just need to put a Sinai stamp at its airport and calmly visit all the attractions in this beautiful city.

But if you have Sinai only, you need to give up your favorite diving activity, because it will not be possible to get to Tulsegorm.

How to get

It is enough to fill out the migration card as for a regular Egyptian visa, and on the back side be sure to indicate “SINAI ONLY” in large letters. Then the completed paper must be taken to the border guards.

In order to get this permit, it is enough to show your migration card and foreign passport. If these documents are available, a Sinai stamp is placed in the citizen’s passport.

Anyone can obtain such permission. Although quite recently there may have been problems with obtaining it. It’s rare, but it happens that Egyptian border guards do not want to put “SINAI ONLY” permission to visit the country. If such difficulties arise, you should politely ask for contact with their superiors, because receiving a stamp should not be refused.

Basically the problem is solved because in Egypt there is no law banning Sinai only visa in 2019 when entering the country. Those who are interested in an unusual pass know that mostly tourists receive it, but not all, but only if they wish.

Nowadays, obtaining a Sinai visa has become an easy procedure. It is enough to say the words: “Sinai onli.” There are cases when a third of the passengers on the plane receive such a document.

If the permit has expired

Almost always, a violation is punishable by a fine of 157 Egyptian pounds - this is when it is discovered that the Sinai visa has expired just before departure. But if you are stopped with an expired stamp in the country, you will have to serve three days in jail. After this, deportation to their homeland is provided. The country is not responsible for all expenses that are necessary when sending a citizen with an expired visa.
