In 2017, Russians do not require a visa to visit the Kingdom of Morocco for up to 90 days if the trip is of a tourist nature. For longer stays in the country, a residence permit is issued. The local department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Morocco deals with the issues of his extradition.

Preferential entry applies only to Russians, Citizens of other CIS countries, in particular Ukraine, must apply for a visa to Morocco. An entry document is also required for Russians traveling with official passports.

Visa-free entry

The kingdom has a very loyal attitude towards tourists. This is reflected both in the collection of documents and in the cost of legal residence in the country. None of this is simply needed.

Only two conditions must be met:

  • The trip will last no more than 3 months;
  • The trip will be of a tourist nature.

Upon entering the country, a foreigner presents:

  1. International passport with a “reserve” of 6 months;
  2. Migration card.

Russians do not pay visa fees. An entry stamp is placed in the passport and each foreigner is assigned a personal number, which is also indicated in the document.

In some cases, border guards are interested in the tourist’s financial well-being and whether he has return tickets. But such situations arise extremely rarely and only if the traveler’s appearance raises doubts among the border service officer.

Migration card

The only formality that Russians will have to face when entering the country is filling out a migration card. The form is issued on the plane and the flight attendants kindly help fill it out. If for some reason this fails, you can continue filling out the card at the airport.

The card is filled out for each participant in the trip, with the exception of children included in the parents’ passport. All information is entered in block letters in English using blue or black ink. It is also possible to fill out the card in Arabic or French. Blots and errors are excluded.

A sample filling can be found in the photo above. As you can see, the card consists of two parts: the right one is taken by the border guard, the left one remains with the tourist and it is advisable to keep it until leaving the country.

Traveling with children

Children over 14 years old leave the Russian Federation using their own foreign passports. Minors under 14 years of age can be included in their parents' documents, provided that they have old-style passports. The child's biometric data is not included.

No additional documents are needed to travel with a minor, but this applies to the situation when the child is accompanied by both parents. If a minor travels with only one parent, then consent from the parent remaining in Russia is required for the child to leave the Russian Federation. This document is drawn up by a notary. If it is not possible to obtain consent to leave, then you must provide confirmation of this fact. For example, a death certificate, a court decision on deprivation of parental rights, a certificate from law enforcement agencies stating that the location of the second parent is unknown.

Extension of stay

When entering the country on a visa-free basis, the period of residence will not be extended. Those wishing to stay in Morocco can apply for a residence permit (residence permit), but obtaining it has its own nuances.

The easiest way to continue your holiday in the country is to leave Morocco and re-enter. In this case, a stamp with a date will appear in the passport, from which the countdown of the new 90 days of visa-free residence in the Kingdom will begin.

In this way, you can extend your stay in Morocco indefinitely; there is no limit on the number of days you are allowed to spend in the country.

Here are some options:

  • Visit the neighboring one, which you can get into without completing additional documents. Visa-free entry into this country is still maintained for Russians.
  • Travel to Mauritania. True, to visit this country you need a visa, but it is easy to obtain at the Mauritanian Embassy located in Morocco.
  • Take the ferry to . This option is only suitable for holders of a multiple-entry Schengen or national Spanish visa.

Medical insurance

Medical insurance is not a document required to be presented when entering the country. However, we still recommend that you take care of receiving it. It’s easy to apply for a medical policy online. You do not need any special vaccinations to visit Morocco.
