Free baggage allowance

Emirates airline offers its passengers some of the best luggage transportation conditions in the world.

in Economy class - up to30 kg,

in Business class – up to 40 kg,

in First Class - up to 50 kg of luggage.

Hand luggage

The amount of hand luggage you can take into the cabin depends on the class you are traveling in:

First and Business classes-2 seats, total weight up to 12 kg. Carry-on baggage may include a briefcase (with dimensions no more than 45x35x20 cm), a small bag (55x38x20 cm) or a clothes bag (less than 20 cm thick).

Exceptions may be made when carrying valuable or fragile items in hand luggage whose size exceeds the specified standards.

Alcoholic drinks, perfumes, cigarettes and other goods purchased in Duty Free stores are allowed for transportation in all classes. At the same time, it is necessary to remember current restrictions for the carriage of liquids in the cabin of an airliner - goods that do not fit into the established standards may be detained at pre-flight inspection points.

Items that exceed the carry-on baggage allowance in weight and/or size are not allowed in the cabin. In this case, Emirates ground staff will check items such as baggage into the aircraft's hold and may be charged an additional AED 50 for handling each item.

Non-standard luggage

When transporting musical instruments or sports equipment, general size and weight standards apply. But in addition, there is also the possibility of transporting such items in the passenger seat in the aircraft cabin. In this case, you will have to pay separately for the chair.

Also, in any Emirates class of service, passengers can, in addition to their baggage allowance, check in a set of golf clubs and one pair of golf shoes free of charge.

All other sports equipment is taken into account in the basic baggage allowance, and if they exceed the established limits free standards according to size and/or weight, you will be charged as for regular excess baggage.

.

Baggage handling and permissible weight, tariffs for overweight payment, transportation of animals, transportation of sports equipment, reloading of baggage during transit.

Emirates fares include freight 30 kg luggage for economy class, 40 kg for business class, and 50 kg for 1st class passengers.

If you are flying with an infant who does not occupy a separate seat, the rate increases by 10 kg.

Hand luggage must weigh no more than 7 kg, dimensions 55 x 38 x 20 cm. For economy class you can take one bag, for business and first class - two.

If the flight is operated jointly with Emirates partners - Qantas, Malaysia Airlines, S7 Airlines and others, the baggage weight limits in the areas operated by the partners comply with their rules.

Do I need to reload luggage during transit?

If all legs of the flight are operated by Emirates, baggage is checked in until the final destination. Baggage reloading from board to board is carried out by the airline. If you are worried about safety, before departure you can check with the employees whether your luggage has been loaded, and they will check it against the database.

If you have a connection in the UAE for more than 24 hours, you will be forced to pick up your luggage, even if the next flight is again on Emirates Airlines. The airport has a paid storage room for this case.

When flying with partners, e.g. S7 Airlines, you will have to reload the luggage yourself. If the connection time is short (an hour and a half), at the exit of the plane, passengers are met by an employee of the airline operating the connecting flight for more efficient baggage collection and transfer to the departure terminal.

Note. On the luggage tag, which is glued to the ticket after check-in for the flight, the point to which the luggage flies is written.

Overweight of luggage. Overweight fee

When paying for excess baggage, through the Emirates website, in the booking management section, the following rates apply (prices in Euro):

The carriage of animals in the cabins of Emirates aircraft is prohibited (except for guide dogs).

All animals are transported in the cargo hold of the aircraft, and can be checked in for the flight if the duration of the flight (including connections) does not exceed 17 o'clock.

Transportation of animals is paid separately, based on the weight of the animal and the container for transportation. The animal must have a health certificate, and an import application must also be filled out.

Transportation of sports equipment

Sports equipment is subject to the standard baggage allowance; dimensions (length + width + height) should not exceed 150 cm.

Set acceptable for alpine skiing: one pair of skis, ski boots and ski poles. Or one snowboard and a pair of boots.

When purchasing a ticket for an Emirates flight, ask in advance how much baggage and carry-on baggage you can take with you on the flight. To avoid getting into an awkward situation at the airport during check-in.

We will talk more about transportation rules in another article. Now we are only interested in Emirates baggage.

Depending on the route of the norm free transportation Emirates sets baggage allowance based on either its weight or the number of pieces. This is consistent with international regulations.

Economy Class passengers can carry up to 35 kg of baggage (depending on the fare type). Business Class passengers can take 40 kg of luggage on a flight, and First Class passengers can take up to 50 kg of luggage.

Passengers of all three classes are entitled to check in up to 10 pieces of baggage, as long as their total weight does not exceed their class allowance.

Baggage weight limit

Emirates' weight system applies to all flights except flights to and from Canada, North and South America.

Emirates' standard free baggage allowance for all other destinations is 50kg in First Class and 40kg in Business Class.

For Economy Class passengers, baggage allowance depends on the fare. From February 4, 2019, these standards for some tariffs have changed:

Economy class fares

Special Saver Flex Flex Plus
15 kg 25 kg 30 kg 35 kg

If your baggage allowance has increased after rebooking your flight, Emirates recommends that you take with you proof of your original baggage allowance (a printout or screenshot of your ticket).

You can check in any number of pieces of baggage, as long as their total weight does not exceed the maximum baggage allowance for your class. However, each piece of baggage must weigh no more than 32 kg.

Items whose total dimensions (length, width and height) exceed 300 cm cannot be checked in as checked baggage. Such items must be transported as transport cargo. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Baggage restrictions

Capacity restrictions apply to all routes to the Nordic and South America and from them, as well as to flights from Africa.

Baggage transportation on shared routes

Codeshare flight is a flight listed on a ticket alongside an Emirates flight, but operated by a different airline and without an Emirates code (Emirates flight numbers begin with EK). These airlines may have their own baggage rules for passengers.

If you are departing from the US and the first leg of your journey is operated by an airline other than Emirates, different baggage rules may apply.

What is prohibited from being carried in luggage on a plane?

— personal motor vehicles

For safety reasons, hoverboards, Segways and smart or self-balancing platforms (unicycles) are not permitted. Emirates does not accept these devices as either checked or carry-on baggage because they contain large lithium batteries. This applies even if you are connecting to an Emirates flight from an airline that accepts motorized vehicles.

- items containing explosives

Fireworks and any other items containing explosives (for example, New Year's crackers of various types, firecrackers, rockets, sparklers and other pyrotechnic products) are prohibited.
