Phu Quoc International Airport is located in the southern part of the island. The distance to Long Beach is about 7 km, to Bai Sao 16 km. We flew from Phu Quoc Island to Ho Chi Minh City with VietJet. Let's talk about our experience. We got to the airport by metered taxi for 90 thousand dong ($4).

PhuQuoc airport

The Phu Quoc - Ho Chi Minh City route by bus is too long. And plane tickets cost almost the same as bus tickets. Plus, you don't have to take a ferry. You can get there by air in less than 1 hour.

Phu Quoc Island Airport

Since 2012, the airport has not become modern and has been completely transformed. But nevertheless, construction work is still going on in some parts, like everywhere else in Fukuoka. We thought that for an island, albeit such a large one, the airport would be more modest. Reserve for the future.

The airport has one passenger terminal. Everywhere is clean, air conditioning is working, but there is no piercing cold, as is usually the case at Asian airports, so you don’t have to wear warm clothes.

Where to eat

There are many cafes and even McDuck. I wonder why it is at the airport, but not on the island itself. Prices are low by airport standards, almost no different from cafes in the beach area. These are not Moscow airports, where they sell sandwiches for 500 rubles

Pearls even at the airport

Phu Quoc wouldn't be Phu Quoc if it didn't even have its own pearl boutique at the airport. While we were waiting for the flight, we watched this store. The girls are busy at work and they buy their products very willingly. If you didn’t have time to buy pearls at a pearl farm, then there will still be an opportunity to buy them while waiting for your plane.

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

Waiting hall

After checking your luggage in the waiting room, you can relax on soft chairs and await your flight. In addition to pearls, there is a souvenir shop and a couple of grocery stores. The prices are practically not inflated, which is good news. Our flight was delayed by 30 minutes, but the flight went smoothly.

How to get to/from Fukuoka Airport

You can get to the airport or get to the beach from here by taxi. Taxis in Vietnam are very cheap. The cost of the trip depends on the size of the car. If you want the cheapest taxi, choose small cars like Daewoo Matiz. Here are approximate prices:

PS: I don’t know for sure, but perhaps there are minibuses at the airport that take tourists to hotels, like minibuses. We took such a minibus from the sea station for $2 per person. It will be cheaper than taking a taxi if you need to go to Bai Sao or Duong Dong. If anyone has up-to-date information about buses, write in the comments.

Where to stay in Fukuoka

We have already written in detail about hotels. There are no hotels in the immediate vicinity of the airport. The best thing to do would be to head straight to the beach. Or, as a last resort, to the city of Duong Dong (Duong Dong). We recommend above all the beach

What to do if your flight is canceled

If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The costs are borne by the carrier; the service is free for the passenger. If you are not satisfied with any of the options offered by the airline, most airlines can issue an “involuntary return.” Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

How to check in at the airport

Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

To check in at the airport you will need:

    • identification document specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when flying with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt (optional).
  • What can you take on a plane?

Carry-on luggage is the items you will take with you into the cabin. The weight limit for hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free stores can only be transported in sealed bags.

How to pay for luggage at the airport

If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can obtain one at the airline's regular check-in counter, and check-in and check-in your luggage there.

Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

You can find out the plane's arrival time on the airport's online board. The Tutu.ru website has an online display of the main Russian and foreign airports.

You can find out the exit number (gate) on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the incoming flight information.

Phu Quoc Airport (Vietnam)

The name of Phu Quoc airport sounds a little strange to a Russian-speaking tourist - Duong Dong, named after the town next to which it is located. The international name in English is Phu Quoc International Airport. It is not a very large airport with one runway and one passenger terminal. However, it is capable of receiving and sending 7 million passengers.

Now Duong Dong is a modern air harbor. The Phu Quoc airport online board will help you track your desired flight in real time. And it began its history almost 90 years ago, in 1930. The construction was organized by the French colonialists, who then dominated the territory of modern Vietnam. Later, during the Vietnam War, in the 60-70s of the last century, the airport was actively used for combat missions.

In the 90s, the tourism business began to develop in Phu Quoc, as throughout Vietnam. And the island's airport began to be rebuilt. First, the runway was extended from 1 km to 1.5 km so that it could be used for large airbuses. Later, the strip was further increased to 3 km, and a modern terminal was built for the convenience of passengers. The final renovation was completed most recently in 2012. And now tourists from all over the world arrive at the modern Fukuoka Airport!

Where is PQC Airport?

The airport is located in the center of the island.

History of PQC Airport Construction

The first airport in Fukuoka appeared in the thirties of the last century. It was built by the French occupation authorities to transship military cargo and supply their administration on the island. The airport was located near the city of Duong Dong, and the landing strip was adjacent to residential areas. The runway was less than a kilometer long and mostly military aircraft landed there. After the War of Independence and the unification of Vietnam, the air harbor was hardly used, and only in the mid-eighties it began to accept commercial flights again.

In the early nineties, the airport was reconstructed, the runway was lengthened and a new terminal building was built. But after the development of the island began, it became clear that in order to receive long- and medium-range aviation aircraft, it was necessary to build a new airport. They began to build it, but the old one remained a kind of “landmark”. Now there are motorcyclists racing and cows roaming there. The former often knock down the latter. They also hold concerts there, hold fairs and play football, as this is the only place on the island with a lot of free space.

Phu Quoc Airport in Vietnam ( second name - Duong Dong ) – the southernmost air harbor of the country. It is located on the island of the same name, the center of an archipelago located in the Gulf of Thailand, very close to the border with Cambodia.

A heavenly place that is almost untouched by civilization, therefore, in pursuit of unforgettable experiences, more and more tourists are trying to come here. Such circumstances forced the country's authorities to begin a complete reconstruction of the terminal and runway, originally created for American bombers.

The airport on Phu Quoc Island and Vietnam is connected by domestic flights, although officially it is considered international. Now you can get there from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Rach Gia and Can Tho, and today there are direct flights from Russia (Novosibirsk), Japan, Singapore and Cambodia.

Terminal. The small terminal is very cozy and clean, passengers feel comfortable there. Traffic flows arriving and departing from Phu Quoc are separated by a two-story overpass. If you were staring at the tropical beauty of the resort and forgot to buy souvenirs, then you will find all the most interesting things under the roof of this airport.
