Hotel reviews

A good holiday for little money. Alexander

We rested in Green Beach Resort 5* in June. General impression good. Very beautiful nature and especially the Aegean Sea, clean and transparent. We lived in a bungalow. We had a room with a sea view and this was its main advantage. The room had a balcony. Here's a video...

Fresh impressions of Green Beach Resort Stepan

I read a lot before choosing and a lot was confirmed. If without emotions: - 1. the territory is large, green and quite beautiful. BUT... All these are remnants from the previous good planning, arrangement and landscaping With today's care (cleaning is poor, especially...

We vacationed at the end of September 2019 as two couples. Since for me there is no other sea better than the Aegean Sea; -))) so far, from those where I’ve been, my husband and I immediately chose Bodrum (the last time I was here was in 2010, but my husband had never been to Turkey yet, my brother and his wife had never been abroad anywhere before)....More ▾ We vacationed at the end of September 2019 as two couples. Since for me there is no other sea better than the Aegean Sea; -))) so far, from those where I’ve been, my husband and I immediately chose Bodrum (the last time I was here was in 2010, but my husband had never been to Turkey yet, my brother and his wife had never been abroad anywhere before). We chose it for 10 days according to our budget. And we knew very well that we were not going to a super hotel (for 10 days in a very good hotel in a top five hotel in Bodrum you need to pay at least 2000 euros, and even then, if you find fault, you can find disadvantages).

Let's start from the very beginning. We arrived early in the morning at 9.05, and were already at the hotel at approximately 10.30. Check-in according to the standard as for everyone else at 14.00. We had rooms in the main building with a note in the voucher from the travel agent that rooms with a balcony and sea view. This is the first time I’ve seen that they took such a responsible approach to fulfilling all the options. Those who took tours to the bungalow rooms - they were settled around 12.00. We arrived at about 2:00 p.m. - they didn’t offer us any money because the rooms with a sea view were only available at 12:00 p.m., but those with a garden view were offered - but we ourselves refused. The rooms are normal and spacious. My husband and I had a room on the 5th floor (near the reception), overlooking the sea and the tea courtyard.

My brother and his wife were accommodated on the second floor overlooking the sea, the pool and the amphitheater (it’s very noisy, if you want to sleep during the day you won’t be able to, and there are also some unique people who sit near the pool and yell for half the night - but this is not a hotel problem, but a problem of upbringing ). For example, in our wing there lived a group of young people (I don’t know where from, but they were Russian-speaking) - every other day they drank until midnight, slammed the door loudly and could stand near their room and talk loudly, and in a sentence of 10 words only one thing was normal - everything else mat. They made a note - it was enough for one day. I understand that you came on vacation, but take into account other vacationers.

The room was cleaned normally, both for us and for my brother (someone here wrote that they don’t clean it at all - we didn’t have that), and the towels were changed every day, and the bed was changed every 2 days. In our room the water from the bathtub was not draining well - they told the reception twice, no one responded, it didn’t bother us for 10 days, everything else worked. Someone wrote in reviews that there was no brush in the toilet - we had one.

The territory is very large, green, all in flowers. There are a lot of different places to relax, and not just by the pools. The area is clean, in some places not very well maintained, but overall very good for 4 out of 5 points. The hotel is old and, accordingly, the area is already shabby.

Swimming pools - there are many of them, we didn’t miss them all. We swam in the pool once, mostly, once in the one near the water park. The pools are clean - but the sea is better ;-)))

Beach - entrance from the platform or if you walk from the elevator to the end of the beach there is an entrance not from the platform, but along the pebbles, but there is a very small strip of beach and there are many people with children. In my opinion, the hotel is not intended for children, there are ups and downs everywhere, the beach where the entrance is not from the depths is very small, and from the platform for children it is only probably from 7-8 years old and then they could swim. The beach is old, the sun loungers and mattresses are already shabby, the pier is shabby, the ladders for going up and down are already loose. It’s also too small for the number of vacationers - to take a place on the beach under a canopy on the first line - you need to go to the beach at 7.00 before breakfast, if you come right after breakfast, then I think you’ll still find a place, but under a canopy already on the 3-4th line . And if you come at 10.00 (well, as we usually did;-)))) then you will either be on one sun lounger at 4, or collecting free ones all over the beach :-))))

But the sea is super, and if you eat for the sake of the sea (and it’s worth going to Bodrum for the sea and Bodrum itself ;-))), then you can close your eyes to everything. The sea is clean, warm, there are a lot of fish, you can just swim with them. We were very worried that we were eating at the end of September, that the sea would already be cold, that the weather would already be cold, that it was the end of the season. Everything was great - one day out of 10 it was a little cloudy and raining, and the sea was a little stormy and the water became 2 degrees cooler. I went out to swim even at 6.00 - the water was like fresh milk.

Food - of course there are downsides here. There is enough food - you will never leave hungry, and for some reason everyone lined up from 19.30 and ran knocking each other down, in case there was not enough of something. But there is enough for everyone, we came a couple of times at 19.30 - then we gave up and came at 20.30-21.00 - we sat at a table overlooking the pool and the sea, and we had enough food. Food - the dishes did not change at all, only grilled and soups for lunch, and for breakfast, lunch and dinner everything is the same from day to day, there is a choice of dishes, but on the 6th day of rest they all got boring, and you have to eat one and also. I read in the reviews that the food is not for 5 stars, and not even worthy of 3 stars.

They gave us lamb and grilled mackerel a couple of times - for Turkey this is chic, in some more expensive hotels you will never have this. We went to lunch twice in 10 days, had a hearty breakfast, and then if the men got hungry, they ate burgers in a cafe on the beach. What made me laugh was that my brother had never been abroad, in Turkey and on all-inclusive, on the third day of vacation he began to be indignant about why there was no borscht, and in general, upon arrival in Kiev, on the way home, he was looking for where to eat borscht, in general, we came to the conclusion that he couldn’t do that travel outside of Ukraine for a long time.

Alcohol is absolutely normal as everywhere else at all inclusive. Vodka, gin, crayfish, beer, wine. The wine is normal white, red and pink are of course diluted shmurdyak. Efes beer is normal, someone wrote non-alcoholic, nothing like the 3rd glass gives you a head start. The cocktail is the same as everywhere else - some kind of yupi mixed with gin or vodka. We are on vacation - we either drink beer or gin and tonic, or what we brought with us, we took champagne for 17 dollars - we didn’t like it. Everything was ok with this. The coffee from the machines is not very good, but mochaccino cappuccino and light coffee are essentially the same drink, only you press different buttons on the machine, I didn’t find any difference in them, the tea is good.

The animation is ordinary - they entertain as much as I can, there is something to laugh about, and all sorts of competitions. Morning exercises are a joke, or you need more fun music or more active movements, otherwise it’s just completely sad. There is no entertainment at all on the beach; all the animation is around the central pool.

The hotel has a cool hookah bar (near the tea courtyard) - a hookah costs $20, but you can bargain, and the hookah is very good, we liked it.

The tea courtyard is nothing special, except for its location - in the shade of pine trees and that's it. The tea there is just ordinary coffee, some strange cookies, nothing special.

The nearest town of Gundogan is a 20-minute walk (the guys went to the pharmacy themselves), and you can get there in a couple of minutes by minibus, which departs from the hotel for 4 liras. There are supermarkets in the City, if you take tea, coffee, olives and olive oil, then in supermarkets it’s cheaper than in sweet shops (to which you will be taken from excursions), but I don’t remember from the sweets whether they were in the supermarket or not. There are souvenir shops, cheaper than in Bodrum and at the hotel. There is also a beach and an embankment - small, but clean. And along the embankment there are a lot of cafes. If you want to dine on grilled fish or seafood, then here it’s about 20% cheaper than in Bodrum.

We went to Bodrum with a tour from Pegasus for $15, and stayed there until late at night and returned by taxi for $20. We didn’t regret the excursion, this is my 3rd time in Bodrum observation deck I was (but the mills had not yet been restored in 2013), I was in the amphitheater, I wasn’t at the gates of Myndos, and I only read a little about the history of Bodrum. It’s disappointing that the fortress and the archeology museum are undergoing restoration after the earthquake and will only open in 2020, but this will be a reason to come back here. In general, I can write a lot about Bodrum - I fell in love with it at first sight and this time it did not disappoint me. We had dinner at a cafe on the seashore with grilled fish and seafood. With a bottle of French wine and beer for 4, we got 60 dollars; for comparison, in 2010, for two with a bottle of wine, also French, we got 120 dollars.

For excursions - from general list offered by pegasus, I was almost everywhere, except Pamukale. We chose a pirate yacht and Ephesus. Pirate yacht - nothing has changed since 2010, in my opinion I was on exactly the same yacht in 2010, only it had a different name and was not so drawn out, it’s worth going and shopping in the bays because the water there is just super. Ephesus is also very interesting, this is my second time here, I was in 2013 - since then the city has been excavated a little more and is still being excavated, that is, if you have already been there once, this does not mean that you will not be interested the second time.

Regarding excursions, I am once again convinced that there is no better tour operator in Turkey than a guide to Turkey, because the Pegasus guide still lied a little bit about each excursion, for example sightseeing tour for Bodrum, “you will have 1.5 hours of free time” actually gave 1 hour, and for Bodrum even 1.5 hours is not enough. And no one tells you that in addition to the excursion, you will be taken to different stores (with some prices). Probably we have already lost the habit of this since Teztur 1. warns about this and 2. not all excursions have it.

Overall we were pleased. After Egypt, my husband told me that now only to Turkey - it’s calmer here, and we can even go to the same hotel, the price suits us, we know everything else, the disadvantages, and for the sake of the sea we are ready to come back here again.
