Despite many attempts, it has never been possible to grow juniper artificially; only in wild conditions, carried in the droppings of animals and birds, can the berries germinate. The value of juniper is difficult to overestimate; 1 hectare of such a grove can release up to 30 kg of phytoncides per day, which in turn could purify the air large metropolis. This air is extremely beneficial and can cure many lung diseases. In medicine, juniper and its oils are widely used to treat kidneys, joints, and skin diseases. The berries of this tree are widely used in cooking; they are especially good as a seasoning for meat.
