We flew from Bangkok to Moscow with Rossiya Airlines. Reviews about the airline on the Internet are mostly negative. In this article we will tell you how our flight with Russian airlines went. The flight “FV 5872 Bangkok - Moscow” was a charter flight; we might not have been allowed on the plane, since we flew to Thailand on a regular basis. But we learned all this after purchasing the air tickets.

Boeing 747-700 a/k Rossiya Airlines

How we flew from Bangkok to Moscow

Tickets were searched on aggregators - Aviasales And Skyscanner. The official website of Russia Airlines does not show tickets to Thailand. A day before departure they sent it by email e-ticket and the opportunity arose online registration. There were no problems with purchasing a ticket or registering.

Baggage allowance

Baggage allowance at Russia Airlines for foreign flights:

  • 1 piece of luggage up to 15 kg
  • 1 place hand luggage up to 5 kg
  • In addition to hand luggage, you can take a laptop, handbag, outerwear and something else, according to international rules.

We arrived at the airport and weighed our luggage. One suitcase is 19 kg, the other is 14... What to do? We started rearranging things, fortunately time allowed. Chargers were stuffed into the laptop bag. Some of the things were transferred to hand luggage. We put on sneakers, pants and sweatshirts. Both suitcases turned out to be 15 kg and kopecks. Since only 1 suitcase per person can be checked in, the blue 60-liter backpack was taken as hand luggage, strapped together as much as possible so as not to look too big.

Departure with a slight delay

The flight from Bangkok was delayed by 40 minutes. This is normal. We read reviews that people sit in airports for hours. This happens with all airlines. We went into the salon. All flight attendants are Russian. They smile, say hello, and tell you where to go. It was unusual to see our crew after 2 years of traveling with Asian airlines

Lounge and legroom

The interior of the Boeing 747 a/k Rossiya is typical for this type of aircraft. Not the most modern, but you can’t say that everything is old and broken down. I read in reviews that all Boeings were transferred from Transaero. It is quite possible that this is true. The chairs have built-in monitors, and the armrests have remote controls. The monitors were off the entire way. There are no USB chargers. So, charge your gadgets and download books, movies and music to keep you entertained during your flight.

Economy class is a bit cramped. But there is legroom. It was possible to stretch out and even somehow cross one leg over another. When the chair in front was unfolded, it became more cramped. Being 180 cm tall, the flight was bearable for almost 10 hours.

There are even a few centimeters from the knees to the chair

By the way, at Transaero all passengers were given a small kit for convenience - a blindfold, socks, headphones and something else. But they didn’t give anything like that on board the Rossiya plane. We didn’t even need a bandage, socks and everything else we always had our own.

Cabin temperature

There was no heat or stuffiness, despite the fact that the plane was full of people. At some moments it was even cool. Sweatshirts and socks came in handy, which we always take with us on planes and buses. They didn’t ask about blankets and didn’t notice anyone covering up. I read in the reviews that they can only give blankets for children, since there is not enough for everyone.

On board service and meals

The flight attendants are kind. Water is always provided upon request. Meals on flight 5872 are two meals a day. What I didn’t like was that there was no standard choice of “fish or meat”. For the first meal, everyone was given fish. But I don’t eat fish, so I was left half-starved. The bun with butter and ham came to the rescue. It's good that we had croissants and peanuts with us.

The second meal contained meat. This time, however, there was a choice - chicken or beef. Now Katya is left hungry. She doesn't eat meat. I don’t know if they always feed this airline this way or maybe they got it mixed up the first time when they fed everyone the same fish.

Drinks to choose from - water, cola, Dobry juices with different flavors. You can ask for 2 drinks. After meals, tea/coffee. There is no alcohol, but you can order it for an additional fee.

This is what lunch looks like international flight Moscow - Bangkok a/k Rossiya. Everything is standard, you won’t go hungry (if, of course, you eat meat and fish)

Despite the delay in departure, we arrived in Moscow almost without delay. The flight is direct. There were several areas of turbulence during the flight, but there was not much shaking. Landing at Vnukovo airport went smoothly. Well done pilots! All of us clapped - it was so unusual again! Probably only Russians clap on the plane

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

Our reviews about Russia Airlines

Our feedback on Russia Airlines will be positive. The main thing is that we took off on time, arrived without incident, didn’t starve, and weren’t overcrowded. Well, what else can you expect from a budget airline? Of course, here we didn’t expect wine for dinner and the same service as in or. We needed to get to Moscow and we did it.

On the Internet, tourist reviews about Russian airlines are in most cases bad. It is clear that reviews are written only by those who had something wrong during the flight. Well, competitors are also always active. We had a good flight, so our review was good.

Flights from Bangkok to Moscow in August cost us 16 thousand rubles per person. The price is normal, considering that the flight is non-stop and at an adequate time (departure at 14:00, arrival at 20:30). A direct Aeroflot flight then cost from 25 to 40 thousand per person. Qatar with a transfer is about the same. There were also options cheaper than Aeroflot - on C7 with an 8-hour transfer in Novosibirsk. It is not comfortable. We took a chance on flying “Russia” and were not disappointed.

Find great flights

Why did they take the risk? Because the flight is considered a charter flight. Charters may cancel or reschedule. But we learned about the main risk a few days after purchasing the tickets. More on this below.

Regular charter flights Rossiya Airlines from Moscow to Bangkok on a Boeing 747

PS: if you arrived on a regular flight, you will not be allowed on a charter flight

There is an idiotic rule in Thailand that everyone should know about independent travelers. You can fly out of the country on a charter only if you arrived on a charter. Moreover, from the same airline and within 30 days. If you entered the country by land or flew from any other country on a regular regular flight, you may not be allowed on the plane at the airport. In this case, tickets will be burned. This rule does not apply to tourists on tour packages.

We learned all this after we bought the plane tickets. The first thing we did was contact the technical support of the site where we bought tickets - Aviakassa.ru. During the ordering process, there was no information about the features of the charters. They simply sent us in response - you should have known this yourself, we will not return the money and do not give any advice.

Note: we will no longer buy air tickets on the Aviakassa.ru website

By the way, when our air tickets to Moscow, which we bought on Aerobilet.ru, were canceled in May, the support of that site showed its good side. They communicated politely and offered to return the money. That flight was also a charter flight and non-returnable.

Next, I asked a question to several travel agencies selling charter tickets and directly to Russia Airlines at the address - [email protected]. I also wrote an email to the ministry civil aviation Thailand - CAAT. What was surprising was that everyone answered, even the Thais.

At first, the travel agency reassured us by writing in simple human language that flight FV5872 was considered regular. Then a letter arrived from Russia Airlines, in which they wrote an answer in the language of contracts. This is when you have to read it slowly and thoughtfully 4 times to understand at least something.

Try to understand the meaning of Rossiya Airlines' answer the first time

How do you like the phrase “...the block of seats is owned in full by the aircraft charterer, the main consolidator for the sale of the block of seats is the tour operator Biblio Globus...”? After reading the airline's response several times, we calmed down. Of course, there were still doubts, since this letter can be interpreted in different ways.

The next day a response came from the Thai Ministry of Aviation. It is rare for Thais to respond to email. But here fate apparently had mercy. I read somewhere that to fly from Thailand on a charter, you need to obtain a DCA-permit for charter flight. This DCA permit is issued by the Ministry upon request. So I wrote them such a request in free form by e-mail [email protected]

The Thais responded politely in normal spoken language.

Having thrown screenshots of the letters into the tablet just in case, we went. We got there on the 7 o'clock morning bus without any traffic jams. We arrived almost 4 hours before departure. We managed to register without waiting in line before the buses with packages arrived. No one asked anything at the counter, they just took our passports and gave us boarding passes. The excess luggage was small, no more than 1 kg for each suitcase, so we didn’t have to pay extra.

Passport control went well. They also joked later that the Thais probably looked at how much we already had Thai visas and stamps in their passport and breathed a sigh of relief that they were finally returning to Russia

Antalya is one of the most favorite holiday destinations for Russians, but there was a time when flights to Turkey were suspended. This happened after the terrorist attacks in Turkey, but already on July 23, 2016, the first flight to Antalya was made. Although the ban applied more to charter flights, the first flight to Turkey was FV-5859 of Russia Airlines, which plane was greeted with flowers. This regular flight, which the airline has been doing since then, let's look at its nuances.

Flight details

Flight from FV-5859 from Vnukovo to Antalya operates every day. Departure and arrival times are listed in the table; passengers spend 3 hours 30 minutes in flight.

Day of the week Departure from Vnukovo Arrival in Antalya

Business class seats Boeing 747-400

Airplane model

Rossiya Airlines flight FV-5859 usually flies a Boeing 747-400; its layout and seat layout can be viewed on its official website. The liner has 2 classes of service:

  • business
  • economic

The plane also consists of two decks. On the upper deck there are business class seats, 12 of them in total, in the first three rows. Next come the economy class seats, the very first row is more comfortable, there is more legroom. The last, ninth row of economy class is not as comfortable as the others, because behind it there is a toilet and a staircase to the lower deck.

Boeing 747-400 aircraft diagram

On the lower deck all the seats are economy class, but among them there are more comfortable and less comfortable ones. Perhaps the most comfortable are the 10th and 11th rows, where there are two passenger seats. There are seats with mounts for baby cots, so they are convenient for passengers with children.

Among the lower deck economy seats there are many SPACE+, with increased legroom. The Rossiya company sells them with an additional payment, which can be made at the stage of check-in for the flight.

Less comfortable places located at emergency exits, these are 19, 29, 31, 43, 54, 70 and 71 rows. There are seats with plenty of legroom, but the seat backs may not recline or only partially recline. Due to the proximity of the toilets, some seats in rows 20 and 21: A, B, C, H, K, L are also inconvenient. The rest of the seats are equivalent and comfortable. The distance between the rows is 78 cm, the monitors have a screen diagonal of 7.8 inches.

One of the most successful airlines in our country is Aeroflot, but it has several of its own subsidiaries, which are also popular. Among them is Rossiya Airlines.

The airline's flights, numbered starting with 6, are operated under the Aeroflot code, and flights, starting with 5 - under its own code FV.

  • It is prohibited to transport items dangerous to life and health on an airplane - chemical, toxic, flammable substances.
  • Typically, baggage on FV type flights should not exceed 203 cm, sometimes free luggage may be completely prohibited; this needs to be clarified with the tour operator.
  • Hand luggage for such flights should not exceed 5 kg for economy class, and no more than 10 kg for business class. Hand luggage dimensions – 55*40*20 cm.

Meals on board Rossiya Airlines

Of course, every passenger wants meals to be included in the price of the flight, but the airline cannot always afford this. But “Russia” has all the possibilities for this.

They are entitled to a hot breakfast/lunch/dinner, as well as a small dessert and a choice of drinks.

From two hours – these are hot snacks + breakfast/lunch/dinner, depending on what time you fly. Drinks will also be served - your choice of cold or hot, as well as dessert. Business class has a choice of alcoholic drinks.

There is still " special food”, which is available for economy class on flights lasting 4 hours or more, as well as business class for flights longer than an hour.
