In British Staffordshire, on the outskirts of the village of Alton, there is an interesting amusement park, Alton Towes Park. Visitors will receive vivid impressions and will be able to have plenty of fun on water attractions. And for adventure hunters, there is a themed water park with a large number of fun attractions. Note that the park has a rich history. The Alton Towers amusement park began its activities in 1860. At that time, horse racing took place here, and tightrope walkers and clowns performed. In addition, traveling actors performed various repertoires. Very similar to .

Description of the park

The water park also has a variety of water slides, but the little ones can enjoy the low-speed rides, which are calmer. If you wish, it is better to go on the cable car and also see sea creatures underwater world - there are many of them in the interactive aquarium. A large number of places are available in water park, this is a great place to relax with small kids. Please note that on weekdays you can enter the water park at a special price: for adults - seven euros, and children are admitted for free. Children especially love spending time at McDonald's toy farm, as they can see a large number of artificial pets. It is interesting that all the animals, although made of plastic, do not prevent them from grazing and talking to visitors, making characteristic sounds.

Alton Towers Amusement Park is a unique destination that meets the needs of visitors of different ages and tastes. Here, adrenaline adventures are perfectly combined with natural recreation. Childhood naivety perfectly coexists with mysticism. Note that this amazing park is considered the most visited attraction in the Kingdom.

Park features

What makes Alton Towers Park unique is its versatility. It is equally good and fun for both children and adults. Another advantage of the park is its location. Funny children's attractions, where slow tractors, trams, and cars ride, are located separately from the fast and noisy races, so that you can ride calmly and leisurely admire the surrounding landscape. The aforementioned old McDonald's farm allows you to listen to the sounds of animal voices, such as bleating goats and sheep, neighing horses, meowing cats, clucking chickens, grunting pigs and much more. True, the smell here is only of fresh hay, not manure. However, you should beware of artificial mice and rats that are trying to run past the feet of visitors.

If half a day has passed wildly, then you can give preference to relaxing on the grass next to the lake, where you can watch restless ducks and majestic swans. In addition, you can feed half-meter carp, which emerge from time to time, so it’s worth stocking up on pieces of bread to feed them directly from your hands. And lovers of water attractions should definitely feel bliss in this source of relaxation. In the water park you can ride down the slides on inflatable rings in a spiral, although you can do without them.

In addition, a large number of different pools allow you to have a great time swimming. A soak in the hot jacuzzi is a must, allowing you to unwind after a long day at Alton Towers Park. The local Congo River is so fast that it swirls with a dynamic current, and water from fountains is poured onto your heads. While driving through a water attraction, a barrel overflowing with water turns over on your head. Therefore, no one gets out of here unscathed.

Attractions

First of all, you should go to the Rita attraction, which is also called the Queen of Speed. Here you can feel the real racing on turns, this is what the Rita attraction was built for. Those faint of heart are advised not to go on this attraction, because here the speed reaches almost one hundred kilometers per hour, in almost just a couple of seconds. For example, the latest Lamborghini model reaches a similar speed in four seconds. Therefore, you can feel a special adrenaline here.

Another popular attraction is Air, which allows you to enjoy aerial flight. Feel how real astronauts fly in weightless space. Therefore, you should definitely visit the Air attraction. Modern technologies of our century were able to realize the idea of creating such a slide, which was invented ten years ago. As soon as the visitor sits in the chair and fastens his seat belts, he is sent straight to the stars. This attraction provides an indescribable feeling of delight, because you feel free floating, flying in the air and a state of weightlessness.

To descend into the bowels of the Earth and become a real parachutist, you need to go to the Oblivion or Oblivion attraction. They descend into the smoking underworld from a height of fifty meters. In this case, you need to go down in a vertical position and hover for ten seconds over the fiery abyss. Indeed, not everyone can survive such an exciting adventure, so you need to be brave enough to fall into the center of the earth.

The Nemesis ride is a frenetic ride where you ride over a bloody river and the remains of a dead dinosaur. This roller coaster will be remembered for a lifetime by all visitors to this attraction.

- just an amazing place! If you have a free day, be sure to check it out. If you are traveling around England with children, then this is completely mandatory place for visiting.

Here everyone can find an attraction to their liking - there are extreme ones, family ones, and children's ones. And for those who do not want to raise the level of adrenaline in their blood, there is a park and a local castle.

The park covers an area of 42 hectares and can rightfully be called a city of entertainment. It was first opened in 1860, and even then it was popular. Of course, there were no roller coasters, but there were horse races, circus and theatrical performances, and illusionists and stuntmen performed.

The territory of Alton Towers is huge, we have already entered, but the slides are not yet visible. Here you can relax by the lake and feed the ducks.

Alton Towers attractions

Now the Alton Towers amusement park meets the modern idea of fun. It is divided into 13 thematic zones related cable cars in three locations - Towers Street, Forbidden Valley and Mutiny Bay.

I will focus specifically on extreme slides, because that’s what we tried out.

Extreme slides:

Alton Towers Park has many extreme attractions, occupying several areas of the X-Sector, Dark forest and Forbidden Valley:

Loops, loops, curls...

X-Sector

  • The Smiler is the most popular and extreme attraction in the park.
  • Enterprise is a spinning flying saucer.
  • Oblivion is the fastest coaster, but no less entertaining. From a 50-meter height you fall into a gaping, smoking underworld...

From the outside, Oblivion doesn't look that scary.

It almost doesn’t seem...

Until you look down!

Dark forest

  • Thirteen is a slide located in the middle of the forest. It has a very exciting ending, you won't regret it.

Thirteen attraction. It looks like an ordinary slide, but... there are no ordinary slides here.

  • Rita is the “Queen of Speed”. This attraction accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.

Rita. When we approached it, it was not working - there was a technical check and it was not launched. Safety in the park is very serious. They strap you in so you can't move.

Forbidden Valley

  • Air (until 2916) is a gorgeous slide. You sit down, strap yourself in, they hang you horizontally in a “Superman” position and send you flying. An indescribable feeling. Now here is Galactica - a unique immersive attraction virtual reality, thanks to helmets.
  • The Blade
  • Nemesis - Your legs dangle freely, and the slide rushes you forward, up, sideways - over waterfalls and a bloody river, over the carcass of a torn dinosaur...

We didn’t take pictures of the Forbidden Valley roller coaster - it was more interesting to ride.

  • Ripsaw is a great slide, although at first glance it’s not as extreme as the others. But it’s also quite nerve-wracking
  • Nemesis Sub-Terra

Alton Towers is rightfully considered the main attraction.

Smiler is the main race. While waiting, entertaining music plays and hallucinogenic pictures are shown.

It was installed at the end of 2013, and it was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the most extreme roller coaster - there are as many as 14 dead loops!

This attraction is the most popular in the park. You should get in line there as early as possible, and if possible, even before the park opens.

Waiting time 80 minutes! And this is 3 hours after the park opened!

In addition to the dead loops, the slides amaze visitors with optical illusions.

The queues in the park are arranged very cleverly - a labyrinth that does not allow crowding and disturbing others.

This attraction opened in 2018. Do you like horror? If you want to tickle your nerves, then you should go straight to The Wicker Man.

These wooden slides, shrouded in flames and smoke, create an incredible atmosphere. The design is very impressive - this figure looks like it came straight out of a movie screen. Of course, the queues are the longest here now.

Arrivals for 24 people. And these are not just rides)

Other slides and attractions

Alton Towers also has a variety of other attractions and entertainment - family slides, water slides, pirate ships and haunted houses, game shows and even a zoo for the youngest visitors.

Castle and garden at Alton Towers

And in the very center of the park there is a real castle of the 18th century, where ruins, ghosts and dungeons await their explorers. This area is for entertainment and less extreme recreation- You can walk around and take a look.

On the way to the castle

A real castle. What other amusement park can boast of this?

Well-groomed garden figures. People check the map.

Part of the wall is covered with ivy - everything is as it should be.

If you really want to, you can paint your face.

And, like any self-respecting castle, it should have a garden. It is large enough that many people use the cable car to get to Forbidden Valley. But you should definitely stroll along the narrow paths, look at the well-kept garden and breathe in the scent of fresh greenery.

The road to the garden.

Funny trees.

Entrance to nowhere.

Alton Towers ticket prices and opening hours

By the way, admission is free, there is a discount on food at various burger joints, of which there are plenty here, and also early entry. Those. Purchasing a park ticket through their website also gives you early entry.

In front of the entrance to Alton Towers

When you come to Alton Towers, you find yourself at a hotel chain. You can stay there for a day, but the prices are a bit steep. A monorail leads from the hotels to the park itself.

Monorail entrance

Anyone can ride the monorail - it's free, and tickets to the park are sold at the other end of the ride.

About the monorail. Rules, rules...

You will get to the place very quickly, flying past slides and various structures.

We’ve arrived, you can buy tickets here if you didn’t take care of this in advance. Merlin Pass cards only need to be shown upon entry.

And now we are in the park. Here you can walk as much as you like, and it doesn’t matter whether you have early entry or not. This is already the territory of the park, but not yet 13 entertainment zones - you still need to get to them.

Alton Towers Recreation Area

If you have an early entry, you don’t want to stand in the long line that is sure to happen. Just approach the park staff and they will direct you where you need to go. I advise you to immediately go to Smiler!

People are eating, the duck is guarding the food. They are very arrogant here.

How to get to Alton Towers?

Getting to Alton Towers is very difficult if you use public transport.

The nearest train stations to the park are Derby, Stoke-on-Trent and Uttoxeter. From there there are buses to the park.

If you go by car, then everything is much simpler and more convenient. , and there will be much fewer problems - Alton Towers has a large parking lot. It costs £4, but if you stay in the park's hotel or buy a ticket to Alton Towers Waterpark, it's free.

This unique place for all tastes and ages, where “adrenaline” adventures are closely intertwined with relaxation in the lap of nature, where mysticism coexists with childish naivety. This amazing park is one of the UK's most visited attractions, attracting around three million people a year. Alton Towers Park has a purely English style, with mystery and mystery, with fast-paced rides and relaxed, quiet paths for slow walks through the forest. The vast 42 hectares of land were first opened to the public in 1860. There were horse races, tightrope walkers and clowns, plays, illuminations and fireworks.

And also enjoy feeding the emerging half-meter carp, ready to eagerly feast on pieces of bread from your hands. Alton Towers Amusement Park on the map

Would you like more information about this Amusement Park to appear on our website?

In the summer of 2007, I took part in one of the student programs and went to work in England. I worked on a farm. The farm itself was small, but this gave us, ordinary workers, the opportunity to get closer. There were two more slightly larger farms in the nearby area. The farmers themselves were friends with each other, and somehow they decided to make a holiday for us. And so, one fine day, having been warned in advance and agreed, we got on the bus and went to the amusement park - Alton Towers.

The farm itself was located in the kingdom of Nottinghamshire, and the park in Staffordshire. We drove for about 2 hours. The weather was cloudy, which was a little depressing. Actually, England is very beautiful country, and even along the way there is something to see, so I didn’t really want to sleep on the bus.

And so, after spending about two hours on the bus, we arrived at the place. The first thing I noticed was the overhead railway, which, apparently, ran only within the park. The park was surrounded by a wall, so it was difficult to guess where we would end up after passing through the entrance. At the beginning of the trip, we paid the organizer 35 pounds, of which 10 went towards travel and 25 for entry. I liked the fact that you don’t pay for each attraction separately, but only for entrance to the park for the whole day - everything else is absolutely free, except, of course, food and drinks, and photographs (with your own camera - free).

When we finally got our tickets, we entered the park. There were a ton of people. Different nationalities and races. The area is full of all sorts of greenery, fountains, paths that go in different directions. In a word - a fairy tale. We started taking photos, and then, after standing around for a bit, confused, we followed the path that led to the nearest visible attraction, which was called the Spinball Whizzer.

Unfortunately, there was a very long line, but it moved quickly enough that we waited through it. It was an attraction like a roller coaster - lonely cars of four people, making turns at speed and rotating on their own axis. At first glance I found them very exciting. And when I got off this attraction, I had a lot of impressions, because I had never ridden a roller coaster of this kind before. As it turned out later, this attraction was far from the most exciting. But for those who first get into Alton Towers, I advise you to start with it, for greater subsequent effect.

Then we went to the nearest sector of the park, which was called Sector X. It was here that I tried the most extreme and unforgettable attraction, Oblivion. The double-row kart slowly rises to a certain height and approaches a slope perpendicular to the ground level, then bends down and freezes so that everyone on it looks into the hole into which they are about to fly. After several seconds of terrifying anticipation, the kart flies down at free-fall speed, enters a tunnel enveloped in steam, and, having traveled about 100 meters underground, comes out to the surface. Unique! The first time I sat in the second row, and when I was flying down, I just closed my eyes - it was really scary. When I got off the slide, I felt hoarse, but I didn’t remember how. At the end of my stay in the park, I once again decided to ride Oblivion, but this time I was already on front row and didn’t close his eyes. Everyone needs to try this!

Right in this sector there was a castle, very beautiful with a wonderful courtyard. Having passed by him, we went to another sector. The next slide was no less exciting. It's called RITA. There were two lines for it, the one that moved faster, and the one that moved slower (for the first two seats). Without knowing this, we accidentally ended up on the one that was slower, and did not regret it. The peculiarity of this attraction is its speed - it accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Literally blows tears from my eyes.

Next, a mysterious forest awaited us. Very beautiful, with many interesting things and monuments. There was something to see at almost every step. This forest led us to another very exciting sector - Forbidden Valley. There were many exciting attractions here. Particularly worth noting is Nemesis. Rising up to the entrance to the hill, bloody rivers and gorges flowed everywhere, and you always wonder how this cart passes through them. Nemesis differed from all other slides in that there were not ordinary cars, but seats in which the legs dangled freely, which gave a double feeling of uncertainty. Nearby there was an attraction under the modest name Air. But we never managed to ride it, because right in front of us there were people stuck there as they approached the exit. And we didn't wait. Although my friend, who was also in AltonTowers a few weeks later, he said he liked the Air best. The system of this slide is such that you almost always ride with your stomach to the top and head first, that is, you see only the sky. Flight effect. I think it's exciting!

Perhaps this is the end of our study of attractions Alton Towers. The park is considered 11th most popular in Europe. Anyone who has the opportunity to visit Great Britain, I advise you to take a day and spend it in Alton Towers. You will not regret it! Perhaps some of you, leaving the park gates at the end of the day, will say the same thing as me: “this is what I live for!”
