Before you start looking at inexpensive ski resorts in Europe, I advise you to look into Decathlon store. They are currently updating their range of equipment; they have good models of equipment at reasonable prices. I recently bought a backpack there and I recommend it to everyone.

And Brasov itself is not a city, but a fairy tale. I’m still kicking myself for not writing a blog article about this city.

For active rest There are several artificial skating rinks, horse riding centers, sports grounds, swimming pools and saunas. In addition, the resort's infrastructure is complemented by restaurants and cafes, where you can enjoy national Romanian cuisine and watch vibrant shows of musicians and dancers.

Reviews: France or Romania?

Many of my friends have vacationed in France before, but I can say right away that the resorts of this country are significantly more expensive than Romanian ones. The most popular resort is Garmisch-Pertenkirchen. The length of its routes is 120 kilometers. In addition, the resort often hosts various sporting events and festivals. Therefore, if you want to have fun, this is the place for you.

Czech

Another budget option for a ski holiday during the holidays is the Czech Republic. Most Popular winter resorts are located in the regions of Šumava, Krkonoše, Jeseniky and Jezerskie mountains.

The most popular resort is Spindleruv Mlyn. There are two large ski slopes on its territory - St. Peter and Medvedin. The first is located on Mount St. Peter, there are 11 slopes, cross-country, adult and children's tracks, as well as a track for snowboarders. Their total length is more than 13 kilometers. In addition, here you can not only ski and snowboard, but even go sledding.

Andorra

The quality of resorts in Andorra cannot be compared with Austria or Switzerland, but the prices here are much lower. There are two large ski areas in Andorra: Grandvalira and Vallnord.

The ski season usually lasts from December to March. It is worth noting that buses take tourists to the ski lifts absolutely free. One of the popular resorts in Andorra is Encamp, as in addition to good ski infrastructure, there is a lot of entertainment and vibrant nightlife.

Russia

If you can’t or don’t want to go abroad, but you love skiing and snowboarding, don’t worry, you can have plenty of skiing in your own country.

For example, after the Olympics in Sochi, the ski resorts of this region gained great popularity among both Russians and foreigners. The most visited were “Mountain Carousel” and “Rosa Khutor”.

The next most popular is Dombay, located in the valley of the Teberda River, which originates in the glaciers of the Main Caucasian ridge, which is located in the middle of the Teberda Nature Reserve.

In order to go skiing or snowboarding, you can also go to the area Ural mountains. The most famous Ural resort is Abzakovo, which is located near Yekaterinburg. The total length of the slopes here is 15 kilometers. Numerous lifts carry up to three thousand vacationers per hour to the slopes. Abzakovo also has a spa center where you can relax after skiing, take a healing bath, or work out in the fitness center.

If you don't have enough adrenaline, then it's time to go to Kamchatka. Daredevils are lifted to the top of the mountain by helicopter, and then they fly down natural, and not artificial, as in Europe, slopes. However, this option is only suitable for experienced skiers, and the descent should be carried out under the guidance of an experienced instructor.

We have offered only a part of the resorts that you can visit during your New Year holidays. Don't be afraid to explore the world, find new places that are right for you.

Ekaterina Degtereva

Every year we choose a resort where we want to spend our winter vacation. There can be many criteria: the presence of schools for children, a large number of “black” or vice versa “blue” slopes, a spa center or an aqua-house, the opportunity to live near the slope or active après ski... How many people - so many opinions.

And with each trip, a set of criteria is more clearly formulated, and... everyone chooses for themselves.

And for those who are going “to the real mountains” for the first time, the choice is even more difficult: after all, even choosing a country is not easy. By the way: what is the difference between winter holidays in the most popular countries among skiers and snowboarders?

The longest flight (you will have to fly to Spain) - in the dwarf state, sandwiched between Spain and France, there is no airport or prison. There's just nowhere to place it. And why? The transfer is also quite long - from Barcelona airport to the capital of Andorra - the city of Andorra la Vella, at least two and a half hours if the weather is good. In case of snowfall, the transfer time may double - mountain roads leave their mark.

There are few resorts in Andorra, all the slopes are well prepared, the vast majority of the slopes are designed for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Among the features of Andorra, it should be noted that the rooms in some hotels are small in size and ... the fact that the whole of Andorra is a duty-free zone: prices for goods are on average 15-20% lower than in neighboring France and Spain. Alcohol is also sold at low prices, and Spain has many varieties of its own wines and brandy, and this circumstance can leave a certain imprint on the après-ski program.

The cost of tours to this country is relatively low, especially if you are planning a vacation with children: the cost of a tour for two adults starts at about 1200 Euros; for a family with two children you can find offers for less than 2000 Euros. Ski passes in Andorra are slightly cheaper than in France and Switzerland. And those who plan to train with an instructor will be helped by compatriot instructors who have the right to work on the slopes of the Grand Valira resort quite officially. And not too expensive restaurants will allow you to enjoy good cuisine. Considering the presence in the capital of this country of beautiful water complex, it’s very good to relax here with children. It is necessary to keep in mind that in Andorra there are practically no offers of apartments - it is customary here to relax in hotels.

Austria

The closest country of the Alpine four, the shortest flight, the ability to fly to Munich, the presence of glaciers with guaranteed skiing even in a warm snowless winter, a huge selection of accommodation options, ample opportunities for short trips and exploring medieval cities - all this makes Austria very popular country among our compatriots who ski or snowboard.

There are many resorts in Austria, the vast majority are relatively small (compared to such giants as the Three Valleys in France), the ski area of many Austrian resorts consists of a dozen lifts and several tens of kilometers of slopes of the most varied complexity. Few? But the neighboring resort is literally at your fingertips - a maximum of ten kilometers.

Austrian cuisine is for the most part simple and satisfying, as in the Alpine regions of other countries: it is based on pork and beef, potatoes, and eggs. In a word, the simplest peasant products. As a rule, there are no queues in cafes, restaurants, bars. The exception is après-ski time in the most popular places. In Austria, après-ski in bars takes place on an extraordinary scale: noise, din, dancing on tables and counters... The main thing is to find your skis! The best resorts In terms of après-ski, St. Anton and Ischgl are recognized, and the most popular resorts from Russian fans winter holiday- Mayrhofen, Sölden, Ischgl, Zell am See - Kaprun. Slightly fewer compatriots (especially not in New Year) in Kitzbühel, the Gasteinertal valley, St. Anton and the Saalbach-Hinterglemm region.

When will you choose Austrian resort, please note that many of them have large thermal or aqua complexes, where it will be good to “soak” after skiing. We recommend Sölden, Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein. You just need to keep in mind that it is better not to go into the “nude zone” with children: entry in swimsuits is prohibited.

Italy

It is sometimes believed that skating in Italy is worse than in other countries, but this is not true. In many resorts in the Dolomites (northern Italy near the border with Austria), the trails are prepared, perhaps even better than in Austria. The Dolomites and the Aosta Valley are considered the most “skiing” regions of Italy, and the most popular among Russians are the resorts of Val di Fassa and Val Gardena; Breul - Cervinia, Bormio and Livigno are slightly less popular.

The largest complex of lifts and slopes, united by a ski pass, is Sella Ronda - 1200 km of slopes, located in the Dolomites. However, keep in mind: if you do not have time to return to the slopes in your region before the ski lifts close, you will have to get there by taxi, and this is not cheap - the journey by car is much longer than by ski.

In the mountainous regions, the cuisine is based on the same simple ingredients as in Austria, but there are many Italian dishes (and not limited to a lot of pizza options), so you definitely won’t go hungry here. However, many restaurants and cafes are closed during the day - check the situation at the resort when you arrive. Of course, on the slopes all cafes and restaurants are open during the day.

Many resorts in Italy are literally a couple of hours drive from famous cities where you can go after skiing. So, the journey from the resorts of the Aosta Valley to Turin by car will take one and a half hours, by train - two. And there are castles and medieval cities, so a trip to Italy can be combined with walks to very interesting places.

The cost of a ski holiday in Italy and Austria is approximately the same - noticeably lower than comparable quality holidays in the resorts of France and Switzerland.

And don’t forget: many pizzerias, even the simplest ones, serve excellent coffee, and shopping in Italian outlets can be very “productive.” Unless, of course, you are interested in fashionable things.

France

The country with the largest lift systems would be simply a great place for a winter holiday, if not for... the French. It's a joke, but there is some truth in it. Not all resorts have ideal piste preparation, and in a restaurant on the slope the waiter may be rude to you - simply because he did not fully understand your order and brought you something that was not what you ordered. The French are not too sensitive to cars: a scratched bumper of a neighboring car while parking is a common occurrence. Otherwise, France is certainly a great place for a winter holiday.

The most popular resorts among Russian skiers and boarders are Meribel, Courchevel, Les Arcs, Val Thorens, Menuires, Val d'Isere, Chamonix and Tignes. All of these resorts are large, with a large number of vacationers, and therefore the slopes located near the center of the resort may be unsuitable for skiing by lunchtime. But everything above is simply magnificent.

French cuisine is certainly the leader when it comes to restaurants and cafes in the mountains: there are really a lot of interesting places“catering”, each resort has both affordable snack bars and gourmet restaurants. True, if you have already vacationed in Austria or Italy, prices in a cafe or restaurant not only at the resorts, but also on the slope, may seem unreasonably high.

If you want to go to a famous resort, but at the same time not pay too much, try to find accommodation options “on the outskirts”. For example, in the Courchevel valley there is the town of La Tanya, and near the Meribel valley there is the town of Brides-les-Bains. In both cases, you can easily get to the main towns by ski lifts, and accommodation in these places will cost much less. And if you are interested in getting to know the Alpine city where mountaineering originated, go to Chamonix, one of the most democratic resorts France. There are both budget apartments and expensive hotels, here is also the longest and most beautiful descent in the Alps - White Valley, 22 km long. But it is not recommended to go here without a guide.

Switzerland

Holidays in Switzerland are usually not cheap. And it's worth it. Mountains are beautiful everywhere, but in many places in Switzerland the grandeur of the surrounding nature literally takes your breath away.

Everything in this country is of the highest level. All ski resorts in Switzerland are the same standard of quality, solidity and prestige as a Swiss bank or the famous Swiss watch. To name just a few: traditional Engelberg, surrounded by four-thousand-meter mountains of Saas Fee, sunny Crans-Montana, picturesque Grindelwald, where one of the James Bond films was filmed, elite Davos, better known as a meeting place for the political and economic world elite. Another Swiss resort, Leukerbad, stands apart - its uniqueness is that here you can not only ski, but also spend time after skiing in a healing thermal water: almost all hotels here have their own aqua complexes, there are also two large ones - Burgerbad and Alpentherm.
