The yacht is perhaps the most impractical invention of man. The cost of superyachts can be more than the GDP of a small island state, off the coast of which they drift, and the maintenance of such a toy costs its owner annually 10% of the cost of the yacht itself. In our review of the 8 most expensive yachts in the world and their owners who can afford such a whim.

7. Yacht Al Mirqab

The 200 million yacht Al Mirqab belongs to a man named Hamad bin Jaber bin Jassem Al Thani. He is the Prime Minister of Qatar. By the way, in addition to expensive yachts and cars, he has 15 more children. As for the yacht, its length is 132 meters, width – 18 meters, speed – 23 knots.

8. Yacht Octopus

The modest yacht Octopus, worth $180 million, belongs to a man like Paul Allen. He is the co-founder of such a “little-known” corporation as Microsoft. The Octopus yacht is 126 meters long, 20 meters wide and has a speed of 20 knots.

Russian businessman and architect Vasily Klyukin planned to create several superyachts that would become real masterpieces. True, whether any of the multimillionaires will risk buying, time will tell.

The opening of the yachting season for Russian billionaires begins in May along with the start of the Cannes Film Festival - this year 14 yachts were located in the Riviera area, including Eclipse Roman Abramovich. But in last years Russians can increasingly be seen in Spain and Italy, which are cheaper for yachting, where prices for fuel, parking and staff are lower.

The main shareholder of Lukoil sets trends Vagit Alekperov, who himself owns the Heesen shipyard and the Galactica Supernova yacht: he has invested in the One Ocean Vell superyacht port in Barcelona. It has a parking space for its 156-meter yacht Dilbar acquired Alisher Usmanov.

In the ports of Spain during the May holidays one could meet a dozen boats of billionaires - in the port of Barca there was Areti Igor Makarov, Nirvana and Anastasia Potanin, and Hermitage Anatoly Sedykh.

Some can afford to keep boats in different countries, For example, Sailing Yacht A owner of SUEK Andrey Melnichenko was in the port of Palma de Mallorca in May, and his second boat Motor Yacht A was located near Fukuoka in Japan.

According to Dmitry Semenikhin from Yachtharbour, it is convenient to have two large boats in different places and move between them on a business jet. The fleet of Russian billionaires is huge - more than 40 identified yachts, its estimated value is more than $5 billion, the top 10 boats cost $3 billion. This flotilla is comparable to the navy of countries such as France or Great Britain. Most billionaires prefer to hide their boat ownership for reasons of conspiracy and tax optimization, which is why they fly under British flags. overseas territories- for example, Bermuda and Cayman Islands.

Purposefully or not, Roman Arkadyevich really managed to become almost a pioneer of yachting among wealthy Russians. It was Abramovich's yacht that popularized yachts as an element of luxury and wealth in our country. And when the name of one of them is mentioned richest people world, the image of a billionaire on a mini-ship is the first association. Condemning or supporting, one way or another, thousands of Russians enthusiastically follow the news about Roman Arkadyevich’s fleet, monitor online tabloids, watching how ships moor in foreign ports, become a platform for parties on a grandiose scale, and again declare themselves as Abramovich's most expensive, fastest or largest yacht.

When we're talking about about private giant yachts, Abramovich’s ship Eclipse (there’s no other way to call this ship) is number one in the whole world. This yacht is on everyone’s lips and has long managed to become an independent “star”. Like any other celebrity, the Eclipse yacht is shrouded in rumors, intrigue and speculation. Meanwhile, the billionaire is happy with everything and apparently does not intend to answer numerous questions from the public. Only a few highly specialized publications managed to gain access to the holy of holies and get hold of real photographs of the interiors of current ships in the billionaire’s personal fleet. The rest can only occasionally “feed” the waiting readers with photographs from the outside. The security service and anti-paparazzi protective systems provided on the ship are too strong. Even the superpower of journalists to penetrate always and everywhere in this case does not allow them to cope with sophisticated equipment.

Yacht Eclipse is a pearl, a pride, business card private fleet owned by a Russian billionaire. The “parents” of the vessel are the German company Blomh&Voss (with 1.5 centuries of experience in developing sea vessels) and the world-famous design studio Atabeyki Design Development. As for the interior design, it was entrusted to the London company Terence Disdale Design. By the way, despite the involvement of masters of construction and design, the future owner himself was directly involved in the creation of a truly luxurious vessel. The date of the first launch of Eclipse was the middle (namely, the 12th) of June 2009. It was then that the yacht Eclipse first “tasted” the waters of Hamburg. And at the end of next year, Roman Abramovich’s yacht was finally handed over to its rightful owner.

Length of Abramovich's yacht

The length of Abramovich's yacht is so immodest that it is impossible to even call the ship a yacht with a clear conscience. Designs of such dimensions in narrow ship circles have long been classified as a separate category and received the name “mega-yachts”. And this is quite justified, because both outside and inside, Abramovich’s yacht is truly “mega”.

The length of Abramovich's yacht in meters is 162.5 meters. Just imagine a fairly large football field (for example, the one on which the oligarch’s personal team, Chelsea, again trains). Now imagine a ship that is longer than it, and by at least 50 meters. Not bad, right? It is interesting to know that in scope it is ahead of its direct competitor, the Dubai vessel, by only 50 centimeters (or even less). Checkmate!

Abramovich's largest yacht

Roman Abramovich's yacht Eclipse is the largest in the billionaire's entire fleet. And until recently, the ship remained number one on the entire planet. Dimensions and capacity, with the exception of the previously specified length, are as follows:

  • width indicators are 21.5 meters;
  • displacement indicators - more than 13,000 tons;
  • the total number of decks on the yacht owned by Abramovich is 9.

At the same time, the ship has 2 propeller shaft with propellers and thrusters in similar quantities. Potentially possible speed is from 22 to 38 knots (data vary) for cruising and maximum, respectively.

Abramovich's yacht Eclipse is clad in steel and equipped with aluminum superstructures. The package includes four pleasure boats, as well as:

  • 20 water scooters,
  • 12-seater mini submarine,
  • missile attack warning system
  • armored glass with bullet protection,
  • sites and hangars for 2 helicopters at once,
  • a system of photosensors and IR lasers versus digital photography.

Inside, Abramovich’s yacht Eclipse “hides” a rather pretentious number of rooms, which includes:

  • “Admiral’s” is a 500-square-meter cabin, where there was room for a full-fledged stage and a luxurious piano.
  • 56-meter deck, owned personally by the owner.
  • 24 luxury cabins to accommodate 62 people.
  • Gym and sauna.
  • 2 swimming pools at once.
  • Cinema.
  • Dance hall.
  • Personal zone for 92 people.
  • 2 kitchens and a wine cellar.

It is not surprising that the Eclipse yacht becomes for Roman Arkadyevich a full-fledged alternative to hotels and apartments. The level of safety on the ship is clearly ahead of its capabilities hotel complexes, and even more so in terms of comfort class.

How much does Abramovich's yacht cost?

Initially, in the agreement with the Blohm+Voss company, Roman Abramovich’s future yacht had a rather modest (by yachting standards) price tag, namely $340 million. However, as a result of construction, this figure was seriously different from how much Abramovich’s yacht cost in reality - the final cost exceeded the planned one by more than 100%. Thus, the approximate price is $800 million. We calculate how much Abramovich’s yacht costs in rubles: 56,245,360,000 rubles. - the amount is astronomical, and there is a reason for it.

For example, a huge massage room - the walls of the room (and its area is impressive) are covered with natural skins of reptiles and leopards. The Russian billionaire is not interested in the problems of WWF, and therefore the couch itself must be finished with nothing more than hand-tanned calfskin. It is worth paying tribute to the fact that the Blohm&Voss shipyard sincerely resisted the whims of Roman Arkadyevich, considering the design project, at a minimum, unethical. But, under the pressure of the oligarch, I had to strive to meet the demands and bring shocking ideas to life.

By the way, not only the massage “compartment” of Abramovich’s yacht received leather trim. Both personal apartments and guest cabins are decorated with rare materials, such as stingray skin, teak wood, etc. But, no matter how outraged Greenpeace activists were, all that was achieved was an increase in the price of materials by 2-3 times for the billionaire personally, as opposed to their normal price.

What can I say, if even in the choice of dishes for the dining area of the yacht owned by Abramovich, the oligarch managed to stand out from the rest. Glasses for soft and strong drinks are made of Austrian crystal - practically the most expensive type in the whole world. By the way, this is precisely what has become the source of frequent discomfort - when vibrating (and it is inevitable when the ship is moving), crystal makes a specific sound of high volume. According to the billionaire, the sound can be heard even from his personal deck.

By the way, prices for other vessels in Roman Arkadyevich’s fleet are many times more modest:

Speaking of cost, one cannot help but recall how much maintenance Abramovich’s yacht Eclipse requires. Annual costs are approximately $50 million. This is payment for the work of 75 ship crew members and refueling ($650 thousand for one “portion” of fuel). Apparently, such expenses are not too pleasing to the billionaire himself. Otherwise, why did Abramovich's yacht Eclipse become available for rent?

For only 2 million USD per month, anyone can use the vessel at their discretion. The remaining yachts, the 115-meter Pelorus and Luna, as well as the 78-meter tiny Titan, are also available for charter.
