We chose a hotel to introduce children to snorkeling. Usually travelers stay in this part of Bali for 2-4 days, so our planned 2 weeks was surprising local population and even hotel staff. We also had concerns that the lack of infrastructure and the remoteness of the main attractions of the island would affect the quality and dynamism of the holiday. We didn’t regret it for a minute, we didn’t even want to leave. But it’s better to change money in Sanur or other cities on the way from the airport; the exchange rate in Amed is worse.
The hotel is small and very cozy, the pool is simply excellent. We lived in a Family Villa - 30 steps to the sea and a stunning sunrise every day. All double villas do not have sea views.
There is no beach in front of the hotel as such (a small strip of black volcanic sand almost all of it is occupied by fishing boats), but 20 meters on the right there are sun loungers. Since they were not needed in principle, we did not even find out under what conditions we could use these sun loungers on the beach. The reefs are beautiful, we didn’t get bored after 2 weeks. They start right off the coast and you can swim for hours, looking at the underwater world. A side effect - a couple of times the tide brought in dirt (bags, diapers, candy wrappers), and “rescuers” from local fishermen walked around the reef in canoes and collected garbage whenever possible.
The villa is clean, cozy and spacious. The hotel is about 20 years old, but was renovated about 6 months ago. There is enough furniture, cleaning daily, bed linen changed every other day. True, the staff asks if cleaning is needed today (they don’t mind missing a day), but if there is a clear need for us, they never refuse. There is a refrigerator and kettle in the room. 0.5 liters of water per person daily. Toiletries are provided (shampoo, conditioner, soap). There are also mosquito repellents and replacement units with a supply. Beach towels can be obtained from reception. The staff is friendly, although some employees are not very competent, but they still try to help.
The territory is well-groomed and the order is maintained in perfect order. There is a small children's playground. Each villa has its own sun loungers on the terrace and its own hammock nearby.
The Mahi-Mahi hotel restaurant is not bad, practically the only one in the area with a children's menu. Open from 6:00 to 23:00. They cook well. Yes, in the backyard of the restaurant there is a small vegetable garden and also its own chickens. The eggs for breakfast were fresh. If you get bored of eating at the hotel, there are other restaurants within walking distance. There are few of them; and of those on foot, Mahi-Mahi is perhaps the best. Children rated the quality of a restaurant based on the quality of its chocolate milkshake and chicken nuggets. In terms of price range, Mahi-Mahi is considered expensive by local standards; lunch or dinner for 4 will cost you about $45. However, upon your request, the staff will recommend other places, most of them have a free transfer (from the hotel to and from the restaurant). In the same price range, but with a more interesting menu and better quality, a 3-minute drive away is the Sails restaurant.
An unpleasant incident was the rental of snorkeling equipment. A small stand at the beach entrance with no markings that it is for rent. The friendly staff (as it turned out later, have nothing to do with the hotel) will gladly select what you need - a life jacket for a child or fins and a mask for you. We were sure that all these services were free for hotel guests. And then at the end of the vacation they began to ask for money, and it would have been much cheaper to buy all this. We had to enter into negotiations, since we did not use all this equipment every day and no price conditions were announced, we agreed on an amount acceptable to both parties (not according to the price list, which, of course, they had). I hope that the guys will now draw the For Rent sign.
Local fishermen offer boat trips - fishing (we went - we didn’t catch anything!), to other reefs, you can snorkel over a sunken ship - the one that is Japanese - there is a very beautiful coral garden (we dived there, there is a strong current, then with you have to work harder with a mask and scuba gear)
There is also a lot to see in terms of attractions. It’s not far in terms of mileage, but due to the terrain (the roads are narrow and/or mountainous), it takes a decent amount of time. The most next trip What we managed to do with children from this part of Bali is the Tirta Ganga and Udzhung water palaces - an hour's drive from the hotel. Also an hour away is Secret Beach (I don’t remember the exact name), but everyone knows it as a white sand beach (there are restaurants there too). We had a great day there with the kids. It took us 2-3 hours to get to Kuta and Ubud. And still, it was incredibly pleasant to return to the quiet, cozy Coral View Villas hotel every time. We discovered another part of the island, the east of Bali is calmer, there are much fewer tourists there and this part of the island is beautiful, relaxing and peaceful in its own way.

We visited 2 sites: Manta Point and Crystal Bay. Great snorkeling! The hotel was located in the Cangu area, so they organized an additional transfer for me (with an additional payment of 422,000 rupees), the manager contacted me via WhatsApp and seemed to resolve all the issues. The car arrived on time and took me to the diving center, where instructor Anna met me. Anna is a cool instructor, very attentive, positive and sociable! She told me everything, asked all the necessary questions regarding motion sickness, how I stay on the water, etc. The diving center picks up everything necessary equipment, but I came with my own, the only thing they suggested was to take another mask (since mine was quite old, and the instructor was afraid that it might leak). At the office, we were immediately divided into groups (2 people each) and each group was provided with an instructor. I had a local instructor, Bobby, who was very attentive (like all instructors). Then we got into 2 cars and were taken to high-speed boats. We got there quite quickly, in less than an hour. At Manta Point the water is saturated of blue color, Very beautiful island. They gave me a wetsuit because there are jellyfish that sting. The instructor is nearby and looks at all the marine life and informs you if manta rays and other interesting inhabitants appear, so that you don’t miss all the most interesting things while admiring the fish. Manta rays were and were always present. As soon as I plunged into the water, there were 2 manta rays above me. they are wonderful and very big. This is my first snorkeling and at first I couldn’t dive, but Bobby coached me, it was very funny, but after 3 tries I succeeded! And I was already diving well, the instructor gave a “5” to the good student and tried to show all the beauty, when I didn’t surface for a long time, he controlled the process. There was garbage, but closer to the rocks and not in such large quantities. The group with divers saw a lot more sea gatherers at the 2 sites up close, so next time I want to try it with scuba diving. The water was calm and clear, there were few boats and no people nearby, no one was bothering us. When we got on the boat, everyone shared their opinion that it was the best dive and the instructor noticed that this time it was really the best. Next we went to the Crystal Bay site. It's no less beautiful there! During the dive, the instructor immediately noticed a turtle and we swam towards it! There are a lot of reefs, corals, anemones and other marine plants of unusual beauty on Crystal Bay, a lot of bright fish, you dive and they swim around you at arm's length, and also swim to the surface of the water. Eat deep places, but there is a shoal near the shore, where the inhabitants are the same, but you can look at them without diving (for those who don’t know how or are afraid, this is a good option). The instructor showed a crevice in the rock completely covered with bright blue-violet corals, similar to flowers, in the rock there are many resting in the holes sea urchins, even though you pull them out with your hand and you don’t need to dive for this either, but, of course, I didn’t touch them, although I really wanted to)). Saw a striped sea snake. Crystal Bay is definitely my idol! Next, we were fed lunch on the boat and taken back to the office, and from there to the hotel. This was my best day. By the way, even the “captain” of our boat (boat) was very attentive; while driving back, he slowed down at one boat, which was sailing on one engine, and began to discuss something. Anna said that he is very responsible and always offers to help people, no matter what happens to them. But everything turned out well and we rushed on. I’m already considering the possibility of vacationing there next time, so that I can look at these wonderful sea creatures! So, when I read reviews before buying a ticket that the staff were not attentive and so on... a lie! The next day I flew to Moscow, but the manager contacted me and asked how I liked it and offered an excursion (the group had just arrived) of climbing the Batur volcano, but, unfortunately, I couldn’t. I asked a couple of questions regarding holidays in Bali and recommended places to stay, etc. (my first trip to Bali), the manager was happy to tell interesting points. Thank you all very much for a wonderful day!

Pierced by the sun, blindingly blue, the mesmerizing beauty of the ocean. And in this relaxing, warm, almost cottony water there are schools of bright fish and coral gardens. The Indonesian island of Bali is one of the best places in the world for snorkeling. The only condition for diving is to be able to float on the water, and experienced instructors will teach you how to move underwater. Order or reserve a guide, prepare your equipment, choose a location for snorkeling in Bali - and go!

The most important thing is insurance. It can be obtained from the tour operator (special travel insurance For active rest) or, as a last resort, take out emergency insurance at a hotel or diving center immediately before the dive. We recommend, insurance from 300 rubles.

Before each swim from the beach or snorkeling hotel, guides provide a brief briefing, but be sure to hire an experienced instructor even for solo snorkeling. Each location is full of “surprises”: strong currents, sudden ebbs, diasporas of poisonous sea creatures, depth changes, and bottom irregularities.

Make sure you have reliable snorkeling equipment. Minimum set: mask with snorkel, fins, goggles, T-shirt with lycra, life vest or belt. A cream with a protection level of 20 SPF will help protect you from bright sun rays. A complete set of equipment for independent swimming can be rented at the hotel, at the beach, or at the diving center. Rental cost is from 5 to 10 dollars. If you buy an excursion to the site ($40), the equipment will be given out free of charge.

“Don't touch, watch” is the first commandment of all snorkelers. Corals are very fragile and can be broken off and cut. Watch your step: jellyfish often swim along the bottom, some of them sting. On the reef platforms, keep your eyes peeled for venomous rockfish and long, black-spiked sea urchins. The thorns are sharp and hurt. True, for a hedgehog to attack, you need to approach it and try to pick it up. So another piece of advice: don’t collect shells, pebbles, corals, don’t get close to sea inhabitants, don’t try to touch them, scare them, tease them. In some places you can feed the fish; they grab food directly from your hands, but do not forget to ask the instructor for permission to feed.

    Nusa Islands

Nusa is a chain of three islands southeast of Bali: Lembongan, Ceningan, Penida. They dive everywhere: there are several spots on each island, although the reef current is quite strong. Interesting sites of the archipelago: Mushroom, Crystal Bai, Buddha Bar, Gamat Bai, Manta Point. In the surrounding waters, up to two hundred species of corals grow and up to five hundred species of fish are found. The guides specially feed the fish so that they swim closer to the snorkeler, but even without feeding, the coral gardens are teeming with inhabitants - butterfly fish, surgeon fish, colorful reef minnows and their fry. There are especially many fry off the northern coast of Lembongan, in underwater mangroves(Mangra Point)

Near Penida, snorkelers lie in wait for the famous sunfish (mola mola). Local residents believe that lovers who see her emerging into the rays of the tropical sun will be inseparable. In the coral gardens, seahorses, pinkish-gray mollusks, butterfly fish, and snapper are already “waiting” for those who like to watch the life of the ocean.

A wonderful snorkeling attraction on Penida is swimming with manta rays at Manta Point. The manta is a friendly ray with fin-like wings, the “span” of which reaches 7 meters. Swimming up to a manta is dangerous: two tons of live weight can do anything, but even from the recommended minimum 50 meters, the fish are visible even in cloudy water. Convenient points for observing giant stingrays are provided by experienced divers swimming in the bay from morning to evening.

You can get to the Nusa Archipelago by boat or speedboat from Sanur, which is 10 km from Denpasar. Between Lembongan and Ceningan - easy pedestrian bridge. A ferry departs from Padang Bai to Penida every day at 2:30 p.m. to Lombok.

    Padang Bai

If you want to go to Bali or Lombok for snorkeling while standing at the Padang Bai pier, think thrice before crossing to Lombok. The city Padang beach is not particularly remarkable for snorkeling, but a little further away there is site number one, a reef near the Blue Lagoon beach.

Padang Bai's brand is the clown fish, also known as amphiprion, or Nemo the fish, and the attraction is snorkeling with sea turtles. You will also watch trumpet fish, harlequin eel, and jellyfish. It is better to dive from a boat: there is a strong current near the shore, at high tide the sea throws a lot of garbage onto the beach, and when entering the water you can get hurt on the rocks.

From Denpasar to Padang Bai is 54 km, but due to traffic the journey will take up to 1.5 hours. It will take the same amount of time to travel by Perama bus to the Blue Lagoon from Kuta, Sanur, and Ubud. A ferry departs every hour from Lombok to Padang Bai. Travel time – 4 hours. By boat you can cover the same distance in an hour.

    Tulamben

This is a very popular location among lovers of underwater wonders, who have marked the snorkeling spots in Bali on the map of the eastern part of the island. The main sites are the coral garden starting from the shore and the wreck of the Liberty cargo ship. The American ship sank not after a Japanese torpedo hit it in 1942, but after the Agung eruption in 1963. Now the ship, lying on its side 30 m from the shore, is completely overgrown with corals. The lower part of the 125-meter Liberty is located at a depth of 30 meters, only equipped divers go down there, the depth of the upper is only 5 meters.

If you see a dense school of large fish, it’s okay: they’re probably trevally, a large species of horse mackerel. From time to time, a barracuda swims pompously between the overgrown metal beams of the former ship, and it is possible to meet a sea turtle. Parrotfish and blennies swarm between the corals, and the spotted heads of half-asleep moray eels poke out from the crevices every now and then. Be careful: poisonous rhinopia may be lurking among the wreckage of the ship.

In the coral garden among the rocky reefs, snorkelers will be met by clown fish, box fish, peacock mantis shrimp, squid, octopus, and barracuda. Don't forget to check out the underwater temple with an ancient Hindu statue.

    Amed

Anyone who has not been to Amed, 5 km from Tulamben, has not gone snorkeling in Bali. IN clearest waters reef currents bring a lot of food, which attracts marine life. The best sites: the Japanese patrol boat sunken in Lipah Bay and Dzhemeluk Bay, famous for its coral columns.

The boat sank near Amed during the Second World War at a depth of only 6 m. The wreck of the ship is densely overgrown with corals, along which shoals of carncas and mackerel rush, and large representatives of the underwater fauna pass by: hammerhead fish, sunfish, dogtooth tuna, manta rays. On the corals there are sea worms and nudibranchs, which must be examined carefully; some species are poisonous.

You can get to Tulamban from Denpasar or Kuta by car, rented bike, or bus in 3-3.5 hours. It is better to leave early in the morning to return in the evening: the village is boring, and the beach is strewn with black volcanic stones, which become so hot during the day that you can get burned.

    Mejangan

Let's move to the northwest, where in the Bali Barat National Park, which occupies a tenth of the island, there is an excellent location for snorkeling - Mejangan Island. The island is uninhabited, the ocean is calm, underwater life is rich, and you can also swim with sea turtles. In the coral gardens you will meet moray eels, barracudas, unicorn fish, box fish, and octopuses. The fauna is unafraid and eats from your hands.

Experienced snorkelers gather at the southern pier: the depth of the sea near the shore is up to 3 meters, but after 70 meters the bottom ends abruptly. The most clear water- at the Pos Dua reef. Beginners should go to the northwest of the island. Here, 5 meters from the surface of the water, there is a luxurious coral garden covered with anemones, where clown fish “nest”. Stingrays, tuna and - be careful not to swim too close - reef sharks can swim along its tip.

It is more convenient to get to Mejangan for snorkeling if you are vacationing in neighboring Java. From the Balinese town of Gilimanuk, located 10 km from the location, there is a Javanese ferry to Pemuteran. From here it is only 15 minutes to the ferry to the island. From the central part, southern, eastern part of Bali the way to national park not close - from 4 to 6 hours by bike or taxi.

    Tanjung Benoa

Tourists who consider snorkeling in Bali only as one of the types of holidays in Bali, prefer the southern peninsula of Tanjung Benoa due to its location next to tourist destinations: Kuta, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, which is only 2 km away. By the way, in Nusa Dua itself, according to experienced tourists, there are no conditions for swimming: the ocean is stormy, there is nothing special to see.

Tanjnug Benoa Beginners also choose: you don’t have to travel far, there are hotels and beaches for snorkeling along the coast, the ocean is calm, there are no dangerous currents, the sites are interesting. Please note: snorkeling holidays on the peninsula are regulated. You won't be able to go into the water on your own or rent a boat. You can see bright tropical fish, sea spiders, and flying fish only on an excursion from the hotel or a local diving center. The duration of the trip is 1-1.5 hours. The actual snorkeling process will take no more than 15 minutes, but this is enough for a beginner or a bored tourist.

Getting there is easy: just 20 minutes by shuttle from Kuta airport, half an hour from Seminyak. From other parts of Bali you can get there by local buses, taxis or rented bikes.

Bali's snorkeling sites are some of the most interesting in the "coral triangle", an oceanic expanse of 5.7 million square meters. km between the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea. When going to the island, include in your stay program an excursion to a reef with a swim, a trip to a sunken ship, swimming with turtles or manta rays: there are locations of varying degrees of complexity and levels of infrastructure.

Snorkeling - swimming with mask and fins

Snorkeling in Bali is one of the most popular types of fishing in Bali, and for some reason tourists from Russia are simply “rave” and “sick” about it. We have not yet understood the reason for this phenomenon, but the fact that it was high time to devote our own individual article to this species, we realized this a long time ago and today we do it with great pleasure for you, tourists from Russia. And from the CIS too, after all, we come from the same “history - the country of the Soviets”...

Snorkeling (or Snorkelling), although it comes from the English word “Snorkeling”, which means swimming and fishing underwater with a mask, snorkel and fins. But our fathers and grandfathers have been involved in this “business” for a long time. Remember the famous Soviet film comedy “The Diamond Arm” and a number of other films of those years, and then you will immediately understand why we, it turns out, love this particular type of underwater fishing so much. It's already in our genes, isn't it? Here we have found the first answer to the “riddle” of love Russian tourists to fishing, called snorkeling in Bali.

Almost the entire coastline of the entertainment island is great for this amazing sport - snorkeling or snorkeling Bali. And if we also take into account the pleasant element for many people that spearfishing in Bali practically does not require any special preparation or long training, then it is a pleasure to do it there.

This is what hundreds of thousands of tourists of completely different ages and physical fitness do, and this is interesting to almost all tourists only because the underwater world of Bali is unforgettable experience for life. And, what is also important, snorkeling does not oblige you to hunt fish or other sea creatures, but you can simply admire this underwater perfection, photographing it or recording it on a video camera. This will be your best movie, and your friends will watch it with the same enthusiasm as the newest and most colorful Hollywood film, guaranteed!..

To do this, you need the most basic things that are available everywhere and cost mere pennies, excuse me, rupees. And if you are interested in not only one question - then - forward to the exciting underwater world of thousands of colors and the most unique species, what you can see only there, without bothering yourself with deep-sea preparation, without exposing yourself to unnecessary danger, and without spending serious money, which is what diving requires, but not snorkeling in Bali!

Those people who have snorkeled in these delightful waters just once fall ill with an incurable “disease”: snorkeling in Bali forever and with the joy of a child. After all, you can snorkel day and night, but at night it’s not just interesting, it’s magical, fabulous and seems unreal! “Daytime fish” simply fade in front of those indescribably beautiful night views that the greenish light of a flashlight illuminates and “catches”: the best masterpieces of nature that exist on the entire planet Earth...

Fishing in Bali snorkeling: enthusiastic hunting underwater

You can even touch sea creatures underwater

Fishing in Bali or spearfishing Bali - snorkeling, which is done with a mask, fins and a snorkel, actually requires very little.

Snorkeling is, in fact, an extremely exciting activity, and what you will learn and see among the countless corals off the island of Bali will amaze even experienced divers. And the reason is that the most beautiful thing under water is not at all in the depths, but on the very surface of the two great oceans of the world. This Bali fishing is an entertainment that simply has no equal in terms of delight and first-hand knowledge of the fairy tales of the underwater kingdom of the island of Bali.
Snorkeling equipment is banal and simple and accessible to everyone:

  • - Mask.
  • - A tube.
  • - Flippers.
  • — Special lycra T-shirt.
  • — If you are not entirely confident in your swimming abilities, then you definitely need a life jacket.
  • - Sunscreen.
  • — “Hunting” equipment. Underwater pistol or small harpoon.
  • — And for those who like to simply admire the beauty of the underwater world, take a camera or video camera and place it in a special waterproof box. All.

After you are sure that all the equipment is ready and operational, you must inform the rescue service where you will go for snorkeling and report your maximum stay there. This is very important for your own safety!

But for this, you should already have your complete plan for “exciting fishing” ready. And this is what specific place you are going to. This information can be found on the map: Snorkeling in Bali. Don't be shy about asking your local rescue service for advice. They will definitely tell you the places where it is most beautiful, interesting and, at the same time, completely safe. Where there are no fishing nets, great depths, strong sea currents, places where “surface fishermen” gather, routes for active cruising of high-speed boats, and so on. And remember, like twice two: success and ideal water recreation of the highest pleasure will depend on your correct choice of the best and calmest place for snorkeling.

And perhaps most important. The degree of risk of snorkeling in the sea or ocean is an order of magnitude higher than the same snorkeling in a lake or even a river. And the majority of tourists who decide to engage in this exciting activity for the first time are simply careless and criminal towards themselves and those people whom they persuaded to go with them.

The most important safety rule for snorkeling in the sea or ocean is a correct assessment of your real capabilities, the characteristics of the ocean snorkeling site, knowledge of safety rules, danger from sharp reefs or dangerous fish and animals that live there. Best option For those new to snorkeling, find an experienced, qualified partner who has equipment similar to yours. And if something happens, he will always be able to eliminate any possible danger without panic, or at least reduce its probability to almost absolute zero...

Much less popular among tourists.

This region is developed just enough so that you can come there for a few days (weeks/months) and not experience problems with accommodation and food, but at the same time not find yourself in the tourist crowd, among the ubiquitous pearl sellers, annoying masseuses, intrusive taxi drivers and other delights more "developed" areas.

At the same time, combined with stunning nature and the magnificent sea, this place can be called truly delightful

On the east coast of Bali, almost all the beaches (with the exception of white sand beach) are “black”, getting their color thanks to two volcanoes located nearby (Agung and Batur). This is the main reason for the dislike of these places by vacationers who have a reverent love for the snow-white beaches, and large stones, both on the shore and in the water, and many fishing boats, aggravate the difficulty of developing beach tourism here

In this article we will share the beauties of eastern Bali and talk about the Amed region - home to a dozen fishing villages in picturesque bays

The terrain here is hilly, already at the entrance there are incredible panoramas of rice fields with silhouettes of mountains in the background

A serpentine road with magnificent scenery stretches along the coast, good weather you can see the neighboring island of Lombok and its main volcano Rijani, and from some hills there are such views of Agung and black beaches with clear blue water that they take your breath away with delight

There are several small villages in a row in the Amed region.

We didn’t really like the village of Amed, which bears the same name as the region – the beaches are long, rocky, and not very clean. But those beaches that are located to the south are located in small coves, where there are practically no waves, and the sea is clean and calm. Surfers, of course, have nothing to do here, but snorkeling and diving are a real haven

You can snorkel almost everywhere right from the shore - corals are visible already 5-10 meters away, and many colorful fish swim among them. The water is so azure and clear that swimming in it is incredibly pleasant - once here, we experienced the pleasure of the sea for the first time in Bali. We're not big fans of snorkeling, we just love swimming, but if you can combine it with watching sea life, it's absolutely wonderful. That is why, floundering in troubled waters with big waves rarely caused anything other than disappointment, but here I just didn’t want to get out of the water :)

In addition to the beaches themselves, there is a lot on this coast beautiful places, where you can sit pleasantly in silence, admire the sunset, clear water and look at the clouds over Agung

Once, having been here, we fell in love with this sea

and bays

We especially liked the village of Bunutan, with its picturesque sandy beach Pondok Vienna Beach. Having explored most of the bays in Amed and the surrounding area, we found the only beach with sand, not rocks, with a good sandy entry into the sea and intact corals.
Bunutan village is located here ( -8.350275,115.684612 ):

In addition, there is a hotel near the sea (Pondok Vienna Beach), so the beach is well maintained, and you can also rent sun loungers, umbrellas, and snorkeling equipment

Therefore, when the question arose about living on the ocean for a couple of weeks (my parents and sister came to visit us and for them swimming in the sea was the main priority), we chose Bunutan

Hotels in Amed

Prices Double Room hotels here start from 200 thousand rupees per night and, as elsewhere, vary depending on the availability of air conditioning, hot water, Internet and distance from the sea. For long-term housing There are very few options, especially in close proximity to the beach.

We found 2 small cozy villas, which met the requirements of all five of us - they had a kitchen-living room with all the necessary utensils (refrigerator, set of pots, pans, blender, toaster), hot shower, air conditioning, parking for a car, a terrace on which you can do yoga and decent Wi-Fi Fi.

In addition, the houses are located exactly 5 minutes walk from a good sandy beach. In the area, these seem to be the only villas with kitchens; we spent a lot of time searching for them, but were completely satisfied with the results.

The same owner also has villas in a neighboring village, on the very shore, but near a stone beach where you cannot get into the water, but there is a swimming pool on the territory. We could also use it, but we had such a good sea and so close that we never got to the pool. You can book your villa here: Double One Villa II

If you don’t need a kitchen and a separate house, then in the village there are a number of decent hotels to choose from, which are located on the hills, across the road from the sea. Their terraces offer views of the ocean, and in the morning you can admire the sunrise directly from the balcony.

Food in Amed

In Bunutan, Amed and other villages there are both local warungs and tourist restaurants and cafes on the seashore. It cannot be said that there are a lot of them, but there is a choice and the prices there are more or less adequate - lower than in Ubud and on south coast, but still tourist, on average 25-40 thousand rupees per dish.

But with grocery stores it is more difficult - there are a couple of small local shops and fruit stands, but the choice leaves much to be desired; the nearest large Hardy's store is in Amlapura (about an hour's drive). While we lived in Bunutan, we had a car and we constantly we went somewhere, so on the way back we could always buy groceries in large supermarkets.

Despite the fact that tourists often visit these places, local residents not very spoiled by them

and treat visitors very friendly - unobtrusively, but with curiosity

Most of the men here are either involved in tourism or are employed, but in one way or another almost all of them are connected with the sea

Leisure in Amed

In terms of entertainment, Amed is not the best place and is unlikely to suit party lovers - around 8-9 pm the village falls asleep, and almost all restaurants and shops close. There is practically nothing to do here without your own transport, and the nearest attractions are at least an hour away (although volcanoes, temples and waterfalls are still closer from here than, say, from)

But this place will certainly appeal to lovers of the sea, snorkeling, diving and simply beautiful nature

In the neighboring village, Tulamben, there is a local landmark - the Liberty ship, which sank during the war. We talk about him.
