Cost of holiday in Siem Reap. November 2014.

tour cost

My friend and I, not terrible tourists, traveled independently from Pattaya on a city bus to Cambodia and at the same time speaking practically no English! The trip took us 3 days.

In Pattaya at the North Station we bought tickets for regular bus for 600 baht (1 ticket - 300 baht) to the border with Cambodia ( border town in Cambodia - Poipet). Since the bus stopped a couple of kilometers from the border, we had to hire a local tuk-tuk (motorcycle with sidecar), paying 120 baht. We applied for the visa directly in Poipet, at the visa center. We brought photographs for the visa with us. The visa cost $20, plus they charged us an additional 100 baht, supposedly for helping us fill out the forms. After crossing the border we arrived at free bus to the mini station from which minibuses depart to Siam Reap. Then we got to Siam Reap by minibus and paid $5 per person for the trip. The minibus driver entered Siam Reap and dropped us off on some street where we could immediately hire a tuk-tuk to move around the city and to the temples, so we did that and found a tuk-tuk driver named Pi. Pi took us to several hotels, we chose the one we liked the most and stayed in it. In two days in double room in a hotel with a pool and Wi-Fi we paid 44 dollars, that’s sooo acceptable price! We went back by direct tourist bus Siam Reap - Pattaya, ticket price was 27 dollars.

The most famous excursion in Cambodia is the big temple complex Anchor.

Tickets were purchased immediately before entering. A convenient system has been thought out, there is a ticket for 1 day, a ticket for 3 days and a ticket for 7 days. We purchased a ticket for 3 days, paying $40 per person. Because old City Anchor is located a few kilometers from the city of Siem Reap, and the territory of the temple complex is huge (about 30 km2); we immediately found a guide in a tuk-tuk in Siem Reap. We were very lucky with him, he knew a little Russian, helped us find a hotel, buy back bus tickets, and accompanied us around the temple complex. For all this we paid 45 dollars. In the evening he took us to the hotel, the next day he took us to most of the temples (at the same time, he carefully planned the route and we did not intersect with the main flow of tourists), and the next morning we visited the remaining temples with him and he took us by bus to Pattaya.

The beaches are dirty, there are places where they are a little cleaner, but the overall picture is a lot of garbage. In some places, tourists themselves had to fish out bags and other rubbish from the water.

There is a good place for shopping on Victory Hill. Classic shopping complex. This is also chic Observation deck with an AH-24 aircraft, and a cafe-bar on the roof, and talking parrots at the entrance, and a huge, by Cambodian standards, aquarium with exotic fish. And most importantly, a jewelry store. There are many different products made from gold and silver, as well as from precious stones, which are mined in Cambodia. We also bought pepper from the neighboring province of Kampot; it comes in black, red, and even white. It is considered unique because it is grown only in this region and has a special taste.

Where can I eat?

Like many sea resorts, Sihanoukville offers a wide variety of seafood. Not far from the central square there is a place with cafes where they cook the freshest seafood on the grill in front of you. They cook quite well, seasoning the dishes with Asian spices, it turns out very tasty. Plus, all establishments offer European dishes.

About the quality of food and service

The quality of the food is not that high, but decent in Asian style.

How much does it cost to eat? About food prices.

The prices, as well as the taste of the dishes, are very pleasing. Cambodia is generally a cheap country, but certainly not for food.

For example, a plate of fried rice with shrimp costs $3.

Each barbecue dish comes with salad and potatoes or rice.

Approximate prices:

6 squids - $4.

6 octopuses - $4.

Whole fish (baraccuda or red snapper) - $5.

10 scallops - $6.

King prawns for $1.

Disadvantages of holidays in Sihanoukville

The infrastructure is poorly developed, but the resort is developing. I am sure that in a couple of years, it will not be inferior to similar resort cities.

Is it worth a holiday in Sihanoukville?

I can't say with certainty that I will return here, but in general, why not. The place is good, quite suitable for a comfortable stay.

The Kingdom of Cambodia has recently become of interest to our compatriots as an independent tourist destination. Initially, people came here only as part of an excursion program from Thailand and Vietnam. But for several years now, Russians have become very interested in holidays in Cambodia. Reviews of tourists who have already visited this country and touched ancient civilization Khmers inspire our compatriots to take a journey that they had never even thought about before. In this article we will tell you about all the nuances that tourists need to know in this amazing kingdom. We’ll also find out when to go to Cambodia on vacation.

Cambodia: brief information about the kingdom

The Kingdom of Cambodia, or Kampuchea as the country is often called, is located in Southeast Asia. The state has the longest borders with Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Therefore, it is from these countries that it is easiest to get to Cambodia.

Most of the inhabitants of the kingdom speak English. In places where tourists often come, the locals speak English quite well. Approximately one third of residents have a good command of French. So you don’t have to worry about serious problems occurring during your vacation.

The country itself is quite small, its area does not exceed two hundred thousand square kilometers. But in this territory there are a large number of ancient monuments, which make up cultural heritage Cambodia. It was because of these attractions that tourists came here from nearby Thailand and Vietnam. But in last years travelers have discovered beach holidays in Cambodia. Reviews of hotels with a high level of service, snow-white clean beaches and gentle waters allow us to conclude that the country has a great future in the tourism sector. This industry is actively developing and is ready to offer a lot to tourists from Russia and other countries of the world.

Cambodia through the eyes of tourists

If you are planning a trip to this kingdom, then keep in mind that Cambodia is a seaside holiday combined with local sightseeing. Depriving yourself of any part of this program would be an unforgivable mistake for a tourist, because getting to know the country gives vacationers incredible pleasure and gives a lot of unforgettable emotions. Almost everyone who decides to vacation in Cambodia leaves glowing reviews. They leave this country in love with its amazing culture, friendly people and incredibly delicious Asian cuisine. And if you add to this the cheapness that distinguishes the kingdom, then you will see a picture of an almost ideal vacation.

Keep in mind that it is better to vacation in Cambodia as part of group tours. Don't risk coming here on your own. Despite the fact that the streets of the country are quite calm, and local residents They are very friendly towards tourists; we must not forget that not so long ago there was military action in Cambodia. Therefore, guides strongly advise tourists not to relax on wild beaches, travel to sparsely populated areas and carry large amounts of money with you. It is known that there are still mined areas on the outskirts of the country, and there are quite a lot of weapons left in the hands of Cambodians.

But do not be confused by these facts, if you are careful and do not go beyond the bounds of decency, Cambodia will seem to you a real paradise, not yet spoiled by crowds of tourists and destructive human activities.

Sights of Cambodia

The most famous landmark of the kingdom is the Angkor temple complex. This city was once the center cultural life country, even its ruins testify to its former greatness - they occupy an area of two hundred square kilometers. At one time, the famous Hollywood film “Lara Croft - Tomb Raider” was filmed here.

In parallel with visiting the temple complex, tourists explore the city of Siam Reap. It serves as the gateway to Angkor and welcomes everyone who is interested in ancient and Buddhist shrines.

The capital of the kingdom - Phnom Penh - is a combination of beautiful ancient buildings and modern skyscrapers. Now the city is considered a metropolis and is ready to offer tourists many entertainment activities.

It is difficult to list the best vacation spots in Cambodia, because in order to get acquainted with the culture of the country you need to travel to many different cities. Tourists are provided with this opportunity through numerous excursion programs. But if you are primarily interested in a beach holiday, then your path should lie in Sihanoukville.

The best resort in Cambodia

Let us clarify once again that beach tourism in the country is at the initial stage of development. Therefore, do not expect resorts with developed infrastructure and numerous nightclubs. You won't find this in Cambodia. But if your dream is a cozy hotel, well integrated into the surrounding natural beauty, a clean beach and numerous inexpensive cafes, this is definitely Sihanoukville.

At the moment he is the only one beach resort in the country, and they predict a great future for him. However, now it is a small town with a population of one hundred thousand people. There are very few tourists here, and the beaches and coastal waters are crystal clear. Vacationers have a choice of numerous hotels with an average of three stars. They are equipped with everything you need, and you can eat in restaurants and cafes located along the beach.

Surprisingly, prices in Sihanoukville are much lower than in other areas of Cambodia. This is due precisely to the fact that the country is still perceived as a place where people come for a short period to explore unique temple complexes and other cultural monuments. And here small towns with magnificent nature and not very developed infrastructure, they are not popular with tourists for most of the season.

It is worth noting that our compatriots quite rarely get to Sihanoukville, but those who were lucky enough to be here remembered it from the best side. These tourists always know the answer to the question of where the best vacation is. Of course, in Sihanoukville. After all, the beaches of this town are ideal for lazy time with family. In addition, there are simply wonderful places for diving or snorkeling - the coastal waters are distinguished by a rich and colorful underwater world. Local travel agencies offer inexpensive excursions to nearby islands that tourists should definitely visit. These corners pristine nature as if created for romantic couples dreaming of solitude in paradise.

Is it worth going to Cambodia with children?

It’s hard to say how good Cambodia is for traveling with a child. Holidays with children involve traveling to countries with developed infrastructure, a large number of attractions or at least the presence of animators in hotels, as well as places where a child would be interested in going on an excursion.

Cambodia, of course, cannot boast of all this. After all, she is just at the beginning of her path to fame. tourist center South-East Asia. But if your child is interested historical monuments If you love snorkeling and are over ten years old, then feel free to choose a vacation in Cambodia. Reviews from tourists about holidays with children make it possible to form an opinion about this country as suitable for visiting with a child. Many mothers in their comments clarify that a mandatory condition for traveling with children was registration health insurance and collecting a travel first aid kit. In it, just in case, the most necessary medications are collected, especially important are antibiotics and drugs for stomach upset. Sometimes children suffer from various digestive problems due to a sudden change in food. Therefore, you should be prepared for all unpleasant surprises. Otherwise, children tolerate the climate very well and excursion program Cambodia.

Cambodia Climate

The kingdom has a tropical climate, which is influenced by the monsoons. The average air temperature does not fall below twenty-five degrees Celsius, and in the dry season it often fluctuates within forty degrees above zero. This makes Cambodia very convenient for year-round holidays, but it is worth considering some climatic features countries.

Like many other Asian countries, Cambodia has two distinct seasons:

  • dry;
  • rainy.

The dry season begins in November and lasts until April. During this period, Cambodia experiences a slight increase in tourist flow, which allows us to consider this time as the high season in the country. The most comfortable temperature is maintained in the winter months, and with the onset of spring the thermometer begins to creep up quite quickly.

The rainy season starts from May to October and the heaviest rainfall occurs during this time. The rains are usually short-lived, but very heavy. Many tourists note that this does not interfere with lying on the beach and sightseeing. Therefore, you can relax in Cambodia all year round. Keep in mind that the country has very high humidity. Its level - more than 90% - often becomes a serious test for Europeans who find themselves in Asia for the first time.

The best holiday season in Cambodia by month

Winter is the most comfortable time to visit the country with children. The weather is stable and the air temperature is ideal for spending long days on the beach at the water's edge. In addition, during this period you can freely visit all attractions, because the sun will not be an obstacle to being outdoors. Let's look at the weather in each of the winter months separately:

  1. December.

The temperature in the first month of winter is quite comfortable - an average of thirty degrees Celsius. The beaches and popular places are quite deserted and are just starting to fill with tourists. The water at this time is surprisingly clean, and prices in catering establishments can pleasantly surprise you.

If we go by reviews from tourists, we can say that January is best month for a trip to Cambodia. The weather in Sihanoukville is calm and warm, and the water temperature does not drop below twenty-five degrees Celsius. At this time, guides highly recommend visiting Buddhist temples and other cultural monuments of the country.

The temperature begins to gradually increase. In February, the daily norm is thirty-three degrees, and at night it stays at around twenty-two degrees. This makes it possible to relax not only during the day, but also to allow yourself romantic walk under the moon or night scuba diving. The last winter month in Cambodia will please those who prefer mainly a beach holiday, because going on excursions is already getting a little hot.

Spring makes its own adjustments to tourists' plans. Usually at this time only those who can tolerate the heat and high importance take the risk of coming to Cambodia. Don't expect temperatures to drop below thirty-five degrees Celsius for even one day in March. The first month of spring is suitable for visiting the highlands of Cambodia. Here are Khmer villages where you can get acquainted with their cultural traditions and way of life.

Hottest season in Cambodia

Spring is the time of the highest temperatures. But for those for whom Cambodia is a seaside holiday, April and May are almost ideal. During this period, you can get a luxurious tropical tan in just a couple of days, but you should use the highest sunscreen.

April is perfect for those who are not keen on traveling and sightseeing. This category of tourists goes to the snow-white ones in the morning and spends all their free time there. Well, if you get bored with this lazy pastime, you can always go to the mountains, where the most beautiful ancient temples are located.

Holidays in Cambodia in May will be spoiled by extremely high temperatures, which not everyone can endure. At this time, it is no longer advisable to be on the beach; the air temperature often exceeds forty degrees. Therefore, most tourists prefer to visit numerous National parks and Popoqueville Falls. Among the parks, Bokor, which is located near the capital of Cambodia, is more popular.

Rainy season in the kingdom

Usually, already in May, tourists can experience short-term rains, but the rainy season opens in all its glory with the arrival of summer. Each month has its own weather and temperature:

  1. June.

The air temperature is still at a fairly high level of thirty-two degrees Celsius, but there are noticeably fewer vacationers on the beach. Showers are becoming more frequent and prolonged, and the sea is rough due to frequent winds.

This month sees the highest rainfall in Cambodia, but tourists still come here. Most often, such travelers are interested in the city of Siam Reap, which is closest to the Angkor temple complex.

The last month of summer is characterized by high humidity and rather hot weather. Local residents prefer not to go outside during the day and only at dusk, when the thermometer drops to twenty-five degrees Celsius, do they begin to do some business. However, already at this time you can notice rare tourists on the beaches enjoying sea bathing.

Autumn marks the threshold of the high season, but the weather in Cambodia can bring a lot of surprises:

  1. September.

This month is least suitable for tourist trips. The country is quite windy and still rainy, and the overflowing Tholensap Lake makes it difficult to see the sights of Cambodia.

At this time, the weather gradually becomes more comfortable, the temperature remains at thirty degrees above zero. But strong winds significantly spoil the holiday experience. During the day the sky is usually overcast, and at night it often rains.

The last month of autumn begins the high season. Night temperatures during this period are not conducive to walking, but during the day the air warms up to thirty degrees. The first tourists who are eager to relax in Cambodia are beginning to appear on the beaches.

In recent years, tourism operators have noted that tours to Cambodia are becoming very popular during the period New Year's holidays, as well as in late autumn. Apparently, during this period our compatriots really lack warmth and sunshine.

Holidays in Cambodia: hotels

We have already clarified that in the country tourism infrastructure not as developed as in But still the number of hotels presented is enough to make the right choice. Keep in mind that most hotels are three stars. Moreover, these are very decent options, where in the room you will have a safe, satellite TV, free Internet, slippers with a robe, air conditioning and even a minibar. Meals are usually limited to a fairly varied breakfast.

If you choose a hotel in the city center, it will not have a pool. This is a characteristic of Cambodia that frustrates many tourists. If you are looking for a hotel with a high level of service, then you can find them in the kingdom. They are worth staying in when you plan to spend more than five days in the country. For example, in Sihanoukville the best hotel complexes are:

  • Sokha Beach (4 stars).
  • Independence (4 stars).

They are located on the first coastline, have their own piece of the beach and offer excellent food.

If you are in Cambodia just for sightseeing, you can stay at the Angkor Way Hotel (3 stars). It is the closest to the temple complex of the same name, so you won't have to spend several hours on the road.

Cost of a holiday in Cambodia

When you are planning a family vacation, the financial side of the event becomes extremely important. It is not surprising that most of our compatriots are primarily concerned with the question of how much a holiday in Cambodia costs. We hasten to please you - the prices can pleasantly surprise any Russian.

On average, tours to Cambodia from Moscow will cost Russians fifty to sixty thousand rubles per week of vacation. This price includes flights, accommodation in a four-star hotel and buffet breakfast.

IN local cafes You can please your stomach with a wide variety of dishes. It is worth noting that they are all very tasty and quite cheap. The basis of the Cambodian diet is soups and main courses of rice, meat and vegetables. They are served with exotic sauces, which locals add to almost all their food without exception. The average bill per person in a small cafe will not exceed one hundred and fifty rubles.

Russian tour operators claim that the low cost of holidays is the factor that almost always tips the scales in favor of Cambodia. But those who choose this country according to this criterion are left with a pleasant impression of the trip thanks to the magnificent nature, beautiful architectural monuments and interesting excursions that can give tourists a lot of thrills.

Just two decades ago it was difficult to imagine that Cambodia would become tourist country. The last decade has been marked by a pilgrimage of travelers who came here to see the main attraction of Southeast Asia - the Angkor temple complex. He still remains the center of attraction. But in recent years, excursion holidays a beach one has been added. Tourists, including Russian ones, have discovered the beauty of Sihanoukville, its heavenly beaches, warm sea and rich underwater world. What can you expect from a holiday in Cambodia?

Why is it worth vacationing in Cambodia?

For experienced tourists, tired of lazy beach holiday in the usual resorts of Egypt, Turkey and Thailand, Cambodia is suitable as an alternative for several reasons. She still remains for us for real exotic country with its national cuisine, natural attractions, colonial heritage and amazing ancient monuments. Here you can harmoniously combine educational recreation and beach relaxation on the beautiful beaches of the Gulf of Thailand.

Holidaying on your own in Cambodia is cheap. Numerous guesthouses will accept unpretentious travelers for $10 per night, and a room in an average hotel will cost no more than $50. At the same time, service and cleanliness are guaranteed in any case.

Tours to Cambodia are rapidly gaining popularity among Russian tourists. The leading tour operator offers on its official website a large selection of hotels and accommodation options for two or three people. It is possible to select a tour for 7, 10 or 14 days.

Seasons and weather

Like everyone else Southeast Asia, Cambodia lives in two seasons - dry and wet. From mid-October to February, the temperature stays at 22 - 24°C, and rain is very rare. This is the most comfortable time to visit the country. From March to May, the country is dry and the temperature rises above 30°C. Since April it has been steadily creeping up and sometimes reaches 40°C.

Tropical downpours begin in May. They come almost every day in the morning and towards night. The rainiest month is September. According to tourists, the temples of Angkor are beautiful in the summer, surrounded by lush jungles.

Summer in Cambodia is not suitable for a beach holiday.

Strong waves rise at sea, carrying a lot of garbage to the beaches. Neither swimming nor diving is possible here at this time. All year round, the sea water temperature is 27 - 28°C.

Flight and visa

There are two airports in Cambodia that accept international flights: Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. There are no direct flights from Moscow to Phnom Penh. The shortest flight from Russia is made by Aeroflot with a transfer in Bangkok. Travel time can range from 12.5 hours to 2 days depending on the number of transfers. The price of the cheapest tickets in 2017 is from 19,500 rubles. Look on the websites for hot offers, promotions and sales that airlines regularly hold. Tickets can be ordered online.

If you are going on holiday to Sihanoukville, it is better to fly to Phnom Penh. If the destination of your trip is Siem Reap, then it is more convenient to get there through Bangkok.

Citizens of the Russian Federation are issued a visa to Cambodia upon arrival or upon crossing the border by land. It gives the right to stay in Cambodia for 30 days, its price in 2017 is $30. To obtain a visa, you need a passport with a remaining validity of at least 6 months and a photograph.

Hotels in Cambodia

Despite the fact that Cambodia was until recently closed to tourists, there is no shortage of hotels here. The bulk are 3* hotels, a huge number of guesthouses, and there are also 4–5* hotels. English-speaking tourists have long mastered Cambodia, so all staff are focused on English language. By the way, even small children own it here. The most expensive hotels Cambodia is located in Sihanoukville on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand.

In Siem Reap, even inexpensive 3* hotels have their own swimming pools, which, in the absence of the sea, prevent both guests and local residents from “dying” from the heat. In Siem Reap you can comfortably stay in an inexpensive hotel. In addition to the pool, you will receive an air-conditioned room, the ability to use the gym (almost everywhere) and breakfast from local or European cuisine.

As a rule, tourists come to Siem Reap for no more than a week, solely to see the sights. Most often it is included in the route combined tour, which also includes a beach holiday in Sihanoukville. The same applies to Phnom Penh - 1 - 2 days are enough to explore it. Therefore, hotels in these cities are mainly 2 and 3*. In Sihanoukville, the choice is much wider - from 5-dollar rooms in Quarter A - the center of the tourist scene - to luxurious 5* resorts with their own beaches and spa areas. A characteristic feature of hotels in Cambodia are quite big discounts when booking.

A tour operator will help you find a suitable hotel during the tour search process. It is better to book a hotel in advance, especially during high season. May holidays or at New Year.

Beaches

The best beaches are located around the city of Sihanoukville and on the islands. The small, pleasant Victory Beach is the only one where picturesque palm trees grow, leaning towards the sand itself, making this place unusually cozy and picturesque. There are small cafes along the beach where you can grab a snack and a public shower to wash off the sea salt after swimming.

South of Victory lies Hawaii Beach, which is used mainly by local residents. Along the beach there are cheap accommodations and small cafes and eateries where you can eat delicious food. The water near the shore is a little more muddy than on Victory. A characteristic feature is that... pine trees grow along the beach.

Independence Beach is named after a hotel located along the coastline. The beach is quiet and not very crowded. Although now, with the increase in tourist flow, construction has begun to boil around it. For little money you can rent a sunbed for the whole day.

Serendipity Beach, which smoothly merges into the next beach called Ochheuteal, is located in the busiest part of Sihanoukville. There are always a lot of people here, the coastal waters are littered, but it’s always fun here. Which one is better is up to you to decide, it depends on which holiday is more enjoyable for you.

Theft and begging are rampant at the resort. Take care of valuables and do not carry large amounts of money with you.

Phnom Penh

The capital of Cambodia has not been greatly affected by the modern transformations taking place in neighboring countries. Main attractions – Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, the Wat Phnom Pagoda, from which, according to legend, the city began, and numerous military museums.

Siem Reap

This is the gateway to the grandiose Angkor temple complex. You can buy entrance tickets to visit temples for 1, 3 and 7 days. It all depends on your spirit of exploration and the number of temples you want to see - there are more than 200 of them. Another excursion that cannot be missed is Tonle Sap Lake with Vietnamese floating villages.

Sihanoukville

A small port town, which today is becoming one of the main centers of beach holidays in Cambodia. There are no special attractions here. Only warm sea and snow-white beaches. You can go on a one-day trip sea cruise around the islands - dive from a boat and soak up the paradise beach. Another excursion is to the neighboring city of Kampot, famous throughout the world for the production of the best black pepper.

What should I bring?

In addition to souvenirs and paintings by local artists, pay attention to gems and jewelry with them. Rubies, emeralds and sapphires are mined in Cambodia. In the markets you can buy cut and uncut stones for money that is absolutely ridiculous by our standards.

How to go to Cambodia?

Cambodia becomes self-reliant tourist destination, so now you can buy tickets here. How much does it cost to buy a tour? In summer, the price for a week-long trip with a flight starts from 43,500 rubles; in high season, the cost rises to 75,000 - 120,000 rubles per person. A list of hotels with ratings can be found on the tour operator’s website. Or contact the office, where an operator’s employee will help you choose individual conditions and calculate the cost of the tour. Sales of last-minute tours to Cambodia are carried out all year round.

Cambodiafabulous place for travelers who prefer exclusively beach tourism.

The vast clean coast with soft white sand and azure waters of the bay, as well as the excellent opportunity to retire in the most beautiful conditions, will be one of the main reasons for traveling to this country. The beaches of Cambodia will leave the most vivid impressions of your holiday.

Holidays in Cambodia

Every year, the southeast Asian country attracts more and more tourists to its expanses. If earlier it was included only in the excursion program along the historical and cultural route “Cambodia and Thailand”, then soon the country began to attract people with its wild beaches.

What sea or ocean washes the country?

The Kingdom of Cambodia itself is located on the Indochina Peninsula, so its shores are washed by the waters of Gulf of Thailand. In this water area, the water temperature does not drop below +21°C all year round, allowing tourists to enjoy first-class beach and active recreation.

The Gulf of Thailand itself belongs to the South China Sea - they connect in the southeast of the country.

Holiday season

Thanks to excellent weather conditions, holidays in Cambodia are possible at any time of the year, but most favorable climate observed from late to May. At this time, the weather is clear and warm - the air temperature does not warm up above +27-30°C.

At the same time, the absence of strong winds and heavy rains does not prevent tourists from relaxing, enjoying the great opportunities that appear during the high season.

  2. Lazy Beach– this island resort is aimed exclusively at beach holidays and complete relaxation. Here you can sit on the ivory-colored sand, swim in the clearest and clearest waters, or go diving. Comfortable bungalows are available for overnight accommodation on the island.

Finally, the rating of the best beaches ends with the coast called Sokha. This cozy and pretty beach stretches for about 1.5 kilometers along a narrow coastal strip. Its larger “piece” is private and belongs to the hotel, so it is maximally equipped for beach holidays and swimming, but there is also a well-groomed wild corner where anyone can relax. It is worth noting that this beach is considered the cleanest.

Coastal areas for holidays with children

Most tourists choosing family trips to Cambodia prefer hotels and inns that have own beaches. This makes it possible not to worry about the availability developed infrastructure, as well as the absence of dirt and traders.

In addition to a beach holiday, Sihanoukville is valuable because the most iconic countries are located here. If you are planning a trip with children, you can visit Ream Park. He is wild forest and several big islands, between which it is possible to travel by boat.

Available for walks:

  1. Bamboo Island;
  2. Old pier;
  3. Phnom Bokor National Park.

Fans of national cuisine should definitely try this Khmer dishes. They are unlike other cuisines in the world and therefore leave an exceptional impression.

It is worth noting that the beaches, like the country itself, are not suitable for independent rest. It is forbidden to stay overnight on the coast - only in hotels or bungalows, and in this case the price of a vacation will be noticeably higher.

Travelers, for the most part, consider Cambodia a country of attractions, not beaches, which adds convenience to those who like to relax by the sea - there are an order of magnitude fewer people on the shore than at popular resorts.

The Khmer country is not as famous for hotels and beach holidays as Turkey, which is popular in this regard, or even its neighbor, but beautiful coasts not uncommon here.

The best beaches and resorts in Cambodia

The most popular place you can call it a village Sihanoukville- a center of pilgrimage for lovers of sunbathing and swimming in the Gulf of Thailand. This place is famous for almost round-the-clock parties and an abundance of places for fun. Considering the influx of tourists, the seashore may not seem very clean, and the water may be cloudy. This is especially noticeable on beach places Serendipity, Victoria or Ochitel.

The beaches are worth paying attention to Sokha And Independence, considered practically the standard of cleanliness in Sihanoukville. True, they are available only to clients of hotels of the same name, and. By the way, as for prices in hotels, you should expect an amount of approximately 25-30 dollars per night in a standard room.

A beach holiday in Cambodia for a family with children will be pleasant if you stay not in the noisy youth of Sihanoukville, but choose accommodation in such quiet town, such as Kep. This is a great place for lovers of a measured and slow pastime, and the coast here is always clean and well-groomed. The town is not particularly popular among tourists, although it used to be practically a Mecca for guests from Europe. This can be called an advantage, especially for those who want to sunbathe in clean and beautiful beaches with clear water. Prices in hotels here are lower than in Sihanoukville - for 15–20 dollars per night you can find a very decent room.

Excellent beach holidays can be found on the nearby islands: Koh Rong, Koh Tan or An Tai. The islands not only have beautiful scenery, but also clear azure water with white sand.

If you want complete privacy, then it’s worth going to the outskirts of almost any resort. The territory, of course, will be without landscaping, but you can calmly enjoy the sea and the sun. We can confidently say that the Cambodian shores are one big beach, with something for every taste.

Specifics of a beach holiday in Cambodia

One of the advantages of the coast of this country is the small number of tourists, not counting, of course, Sihanoukville. The main interests of guests are focused on the attractions inside Cambodia, and the shores South China Sea- relatively sparsely populated. The advantages include unobtrusive but varied service, safety and friendliness of the local population.

The main thing to remember is to choose a hotel based on your interests. Young groups will find it a little boring at resorts in the area, for example, Kep, but for married couples with children, these places are ideal. The price range in the cost of living is quite large, which is suitable for both wealthy tourists and ordinary backpackers.

It is important to immediately choose a suitable place, since Cambodian transport is not particularly comfortable, and moving from town to town along the winding roads of the Gulf of Thailand coast may not be the best way to spend your time.
