We vacationed as a couple from February 10 to 20, 2018.
We are not picky tourists, we have been to different hotels and inns, we have seen a lot of horrors, so the negative reviews about the hotel did not bother us. The choice fell on him, because this is his first trip to Thailand, and sitting at the computer it’s hard to have a complete idea of the country. But after reading the comments and reviews, surfing Instagram inside and out, we chose Garden Sea View.
What I can say based on the results of the holiday is that the reviews are all true, but you need to sort them for yourself. I will try to describe my opinion being loyal.

Check-in.
Like everywhere else at 2 p.m. We arrived already in the dark, so we didn’t wait. A deposit of 2000 baht is taken immediately and only in this currency. There is an exchange office nearby (the dollar varied from 30.70 to 30.00 during our stay. For comparison with the street - from 31.40 to 31. They also change euros, rubles, etc. We did not use the ATM in the lobby, as in principle anywhere did not use). Upon check-out (at 12:00) it is returned, but we used it to zero (we ate in the hotel cafe). The baggage room is a corner in the staff office.

We took Deluxe Sea View during the period early booking- they moved into it. 4804 is a large building to the right of the main one, if you are facing the main entrance. Enough spacious room on the 8th floor with 1 large bed and 1 small one. There is a table and chairs - you can take it out onto the modest balcony. Opposite the bed is a table with a flat-screen TV with a bunch of Thai and Chinese channels. We watched the channel from Pegas and Russia 1 (poor image quality) in Russian, and there is also channel 49 - popular films in English without advertising. There is also a mini fridge with bottles in the room drinking water(volume 0.5, quantity depends on the number of residents), which are updated for free every day (if you leave for the whole day and leave them untouched, don’t expect additional ones, so we always took them even to the beach) and a very creaky wardrobe with bathrobes, slippers and umbrellas. (Regarding this product - don’t even think about using it, these things are closely monitored, so if you take them out of your room, spoil them, God forbid you want to take them away as a souvenir - you’ll be fined. Moreover, these are not disposable things, and they wash them or no - I definitely won’t volunteer to talk.) There is also a pretty good safe in the closet (if you don’t have one in your room, welcome to the safe at the reception). The room has a kettle with cups/spoons, next to it are tea/coffee/sugar/dry cream bags. It's all free and replenished.
The bathroom combined with a toilet is also spacious, with a large mirror. There is a hairdryer, shower sets (shampoos, soaps, caps, etc.). The bathroom itself is not the first freshness, but not critical. What was more surprising was that if you use the shower, it is not removable and not adjustable; my young man, to put it mildly, had difficulties, since he is very tall, I had to bend down all the time.
There are a lot of lighting fixtures in the room, but I never found out where most of them turn on (most likely half are broken).
Air conditioner. Really noisy, but not as much as some tourist reviews scare. The next day you get used to it and don’t hear it until the end of your vacation. But it is very functional. You can cool the room to 10 degrees in 2-3 minutes, very convenient!
Soundproofing has been worse. In the room itself, we didn’t hear the neighbors; in the bathroom there was little water and flushing. But what really made noise was some kind of mechanism from the 1st or utility floor on the 5th day of rest. Suddenly you hear the sound of turning on, as if the mechanism had come into action, after a couple of seconds there is a final sound - owners of non-silent washing machines will understand - as if things are falling while the drum is spinning. And at night it really bothered me, I woke up. They never found out what it was, the receptionists spoke exclusively Thai, and decided not to waste time and effort.

Cleaning
She's gone. Towels are changed every couple of days, every day they are folded carefully and the bed is made, the trash is taken out, and hygiene items are added. Bed linen was changed 2 times in 10 days. (According to our tourists living in the main building on the 2nd floor, they changed everything every day). Be prepared for the fact that there will always be dust in the room - this is the norm for Thais. No theft was detected. But they decided not to tip. Once they left them, the cleaning lady took them and did her job worse than usual.

Nutrition
They cook more for tourists; I only came across spicy meat at the hotel once during my entire vacation.
Buffet breakfasts. Every day scrambled eggs, vegetables, fruit, pastries, tea, coffee, rice, 2 types of sausages and tasteless ham, as well as two types of soup. Hot dishes vary (noodles, meat, vegetables). Sometimes they prepare something extra, but not every day (omelet, Thai soup, etc.). There are also decent juices, water, cold/hot milk.
You can have lunch/dinner in the restaurant in the lobby or 2 cafes by the pool (the menu is the same, you can use a deposit).
They also make sweet pancakes by the pool.
Prices are about 15% higher than on the street, the food is prepared about the same.

Territory
Big, green, alive. Exactly alive! There are many birds that scream/sing/chirp from morning until 3-4 o'clock. Sometimes it's pleasant, sometimes it's annoying. According to the mood of the warblers) Roosters and cats are running around, dogs are running along the beach. A "squirrel" was seen in the palm area. Lizards mostly appear in the evening and crawl around the hotel corridors. You can take a lot of photos without leaving the hotel.

Beach.
Quite big. The water is surrounded by a floating barrier, so there is little to no debris. Sand, shells, pebbles. You can play volleyball and beach soccer. There are sunbeds around the beach under palm trees, but they are not placed on the sand itself. From the beach, the Temple of Truth is visible from almost all points. What surprised me was the lack of lifeguards! So be careful. Fish swim in the water, sometimes biting plankton.

Pool.

The second one is between the main building and the beach (large, two-level with a waterfall and islands of palm trees). There are also sun loungers/palm trees around. There is a small area for kids. Very beautiful.

WiFi
It's a big mystery. There are plenty of distribution points, only one lobby works normally, and as all tourists write - in the lobby. But to be honest, it doesn’t happen from day to day. Sometimes you could catch him by the pool, sometimes even at breakfast, and sometimes he didn’t even work in the lobby. I constantly have to re-login. Very uncomfortable. But at the same time, the signal reached the beach for several days.

Service
He's not here. So if you want something, I don’t envy you. More precisely, you will either be poorly understood or not understood at all. While on vacation I had a birthday. I did not receive a bonus from the hotel. And we ordered a gift from Russia (flowers), so they threw them under the door of the room. I don’t understand what the problem is with bringing it into the room itself. It was very unpleasant. We didn’t go for a massage, we didn’t buy anything in the hotel stores, the gym area is a thing of the past. There are no huge “Toilet” or “Shower” signs, so look and you will find. Beach towels are ok but ancient.

Flight
The Azurami were flying. There, on a large plane, in which there was almost no space (it was difficult), the food was mediocre. Thank you, they gave me a sleeping kit (pillow, mask, earplugs) free of charge. Back - it was small, but at least there was space, the food was much better. Keep in mind, if you fly the same way - 100% charter, be prepared for a change in time and date of departure, for refueling in India on the way back. (And then the 9 hour flight changes to 11).

Tour operator
Anex. They greeted us well, gave us water and tourist sim cards (for a call to a guide or an emergency somewhere, a day of free messengers, this opens up the opportunity not to sit in the Lobby and not be nervous, but to go to the local supermarket "7/11" and for 89 baht you They will connect the internet for a week, although we didn’t use it). The guide told us a lot and completely along the way. The journey back to Russia was terrible. This is just some kind of test. They picked us up 6 hours before departure (maybe we were just unlucky) and froze them on the bus.
Hotel guide. THIS IS A SEPARATE TOPIC. I haven't met such a boor for a long time. Name is Orhan. Don't even think about going to a meeting with him if you don't plan to go on excursions with Anex. I still remember it with horror. For 2 hours at the meeting he talked about his past, some acquaintances and friends, and answered all our questions reluctantly. If they asked again, he showed aggression. I pushed 5 excursions, which I myself considered it necessary to tell about. Moreover, he discouraged all desire to go anywhere at all. He answered questions about other excursions that were interesting to us in such a way as to make it clear, “You won’t go there and that’s all.” You know, this is not a guide, but some kind of tradesman, whose key argument is “You won’t find it cheaper,” which, of course, is not true. He persuaded us to go to a free sightseeing tour. I read in reviews that it’s a waste of time that they take people shopping. But I didn't think it was ALL DAY. ABSOLUTELY ALL DAY FROM STORE TO STORE. And here is a huge deuce for both Anex and Orhan. They just stole the whole day. But if you love shopping, go ahead. Of course, it's not all bad. Between shops, the guide told quite interesting information (I remind you, this is our first trip to Thailand, maybe that’s why it was interesting). We visited: an orchard (we tried fruits, walked, tasted exotic teas), a snake farm (we looked at snakes, a snake show (quite funny , you won’t regret it), there was an opportunity for an additional fee to try a snake, we tasted snake tincture), Big Buddha Hill (but since we were brought there at the end and at dusk, we couldn’t fully enjoy it). And ending the topic of the hotel guide. He gave false flight information. Our call with questions received a bunch of “Dear” (this is his favorite word) and rudeness, sent us to hotline Anex to figure it out for ourselves. In general, they called Anex, Azur Air, looked on the Internet, in short, they found out everything themselves, they also wrote on the information stand for the other guests, but Orhan never showed up at the hotel. My advice is not to get involved so as not to spoil your mood.

Infrastructure around.
I advise you to study reviews of the hotel with Google maps in front of your eyes. I did just that, so I knew about everything about the area. The hotel is located in the Naklua area and there is one road leading from it, and all the shops and cafes are located on it, there are tour desks. This is a tourist area, so, as everyone said, it’s more expensive than in the city. But in principle, the prices are reasonable. You can get it from the first Family Mart Pattaya map for free. Two main tips - many goods are cheaper in the pharmacy (located at the turn of the main road) than in the supermarket, there is also a yellow exchange office - it is more profitable than the first one, which is closer to the hotel. We ate (mostly) at the Coconaut Cafe (from tourist reviews below). Upon entering there is a specific smell that you get used to, super wi-fi, good-natured hosts, sports broadcasts and a large selection at very reasonable prices!
The location of the hotel is really remote from the city center, you will have to take 2 tuk-tuks or a taxi.
There is nothing in the hotel for children except a swimming pool.

Excursions
I studied this issue in advance, so we went from the Russian guys: Discovery 7in1 (entertaining, almost everyone offers something similar in Pattaya in different variations. Here you have zoos, plantations, farms, and temples. You can go. This is one of the most clean hotels in terms of swimming in Pattaya, everyone is talking about it. There will be no crazy parties or any kind of hell here, so for a relaxing holiday, if you want not to be bothered, it’s ideal. I think everyone will find their own pros and cons here, and different things will happen to everyone, everything will depend on a dozen factors. We haven’t been on a beach holiday for a long time, so we had a great rest and turned a blind eye to all the little things. It took us a long time to choose a hotel in Ko Chang. We chose Sea View and were not disappointed. Excellent hotel for price-quality. The rooms are large, in my opinion they all have a sea view, as they look on one side. We stayed in Superior, which is in the main building; there were two exits from the room - to the building and to the beach. There are several buildings, located on a slope, but accessibility is good; the upper building (where breakfast is) can be reached either by funicular (large elevator cabin, 5 minutes to the top), or by electric car (the delivery service is fast), or on foot. Breakfast is excellent for every taste. There is European and Thai cuisine here, a lot of pastries, omelettes, eggs, only 5 types. Moreover, there are dishes available all the time (both at the beginning and at the end of breakfast time). Two swimming pools, not counting those at each villa. One pool pershore on the beach, the second at the upper building. Two restaurants. We had lunch and dinner on the beach at Sunset. Excellent cuisine, service, presentation of dishes. Everything we tried was very tasty. Especially Tomyam, spaghetti with crab, tom hakai, pathai. Leisure- kayaks, boards, badminton. Great beach. Special thanks and gratitude to the service staff - everything was very kind, professional, and not intrusive. It is clear that a well-coordinated team is working. Somehow, things didn’t work out for us right away with this hotel: at first we couldn’t pay through the hotel’s website with a card for a long time, it gave an error and that’s it. After several days of correspondence, the payment finally went through. Upon arrival at the hotel, for the first time I was faced with a requirement to show the card with which the hotel had withheld funds and unexpectedly - you cannot show the card - pay again, the previously paid will be returned in 45 days, despite the fact that the hotel requested full information about the card when booking and paying . Attempts to explain ourselves led to the understanding that the reception desk is unfriendly, and customer focus is relegated to a dark corner during the high season. The location is unique - between large beaches, which creates a certain tranquility, but at the same time a variety of the same fruits offered by the hotel onbeach clearly loses to beaches with more free access. From the beach beautiful view on the sea and rocks - here the hotel lives up to its name. There is also a gorgeous view from the restaurant, plus there are several places around the area where you can also enjoy the sea view. The hotel is ancient, the elevation changes, electric cars and the funicular are a very pleasant solution, one of the advantages of this hotel. Two pools, the lack of lighting and backlighting after sunset caused bewilderment. A large green area, birds, monkeys, and the monkeys are quite greyhounds, a sort of gang of small gopniks collecting food rent on the balconies)). They say that somewhere there is a person who disperses them with a slingshot, but during the week we did not meet such a person, but we met monkeys every day. Breakfast is good, the restaurant has a view of the sea and sunset. The dinner menu is rather limited. Barramundi fish is delicious, fried and steamed, springrolls with duck are not bad as an appetizer. The beach bar has a small selection of drinks. A big plus is that there are few mosquitoes. A small minus - in some places there are heaps of dry cut branches scattered throughout the forested area, although maybe I misunderstood the coloring of the green area of this hotel. From Friday to Sunday influx Chinese tourists , apparently that’s why these days there aren’t enough sun loungers on the beach for those who come closer to 12. The Family deluxe room is spacious with two rooms, one bathroom. There is only 1 key for a 4-bed room, and only hangers), there are 4 more, with robes hanging on them, somehow not enough even taking into account the robes. Free water per bottle per seat per day. Beach towels are not changed either on the beach or at the pool, only in the room. But this did not create a big problem, since we had assembled a replacement set. The view from the room is mostly obscured by trees. A TV in a hotel is usually not necessary, due to the small number of Russian-language channels and the presence of other pleasures for the eyes, but here we thought about the tradition of watching the President’s New Year’s address. The size of a TV from childhood - now, at best, these are on refrigerators in the kitchen, because from three meters you can no longer see anything. I don’t comment on the New Year’s Eve celebration itself; New Year’s Eve is not the same without snow, a Christmas tree and Santa Claus. But running out of sparkling wine in the bar by the middle of the holiday is not at all our way). The quality of room cleaning is decent, no complaints. But on the beach the cleaning is worse, like a hotel area, guests start going to the beach at around 7 o’clock, and the incredibly slow 3 ladies with long breaks for conversations only start selectively sweeping the area and wiping the sun loungers at 8 am. One can observe a picture among the staff in this hotel and in the restaurant: the waiters, turning away from the clients, are discussing something funny for a long time. One gets the feeling that, despite the peak season, not enough workers were hired and their work was not monitored. One Saturday, Saturday Karl!!!, after 8 am, when the beach was already partially filled with people, a sand-sifting machine was launched onto it, which, with a roar, gasoline stench and sand dust, introduced new sensations into the relaxation process with clean air and quiet the sound of the surf))) This pleasure lasted an hour. The same story repeated itself on Sunday. The service on the beach is also not great - we ordered 2 glasses of white wine, among other things. After 10 minutes a lady came with a menu - which white one? They chose - they pointed at Chardonnay on the menu, she ran away repeating - Chardonnay, having fun about something, after another 10 minutes she came running - there was no Chardonnay, they pointed at another white - she ran away to order. As a result, I brought one glass of red😩. In my opinion, the quality of service is quite low, but this problem is fully compensated by the views and territory. The sea is shallow, the bottom is with pebbles and corals. Rare fish. Jellyfish and other monsters were not seen. Warm and transparent. Great for kids, too small for adults. It should be noted that before 10 o’clock in the morning, things left unattended on the beach sun loungers are carefully collected and taken to the cafe, so there is no particular point in occupying the sun loungers in advance and leaving for breakfast. WiFi - 3 connections per room, keeps dropping out. In the city we dined twice in the restaurants mentioned on the Satang website, the first J.E.Seafood - spicy, despite the request for nospicy, scallops, hard steamed fish and tasty rather large boiled shrimp, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The second one is Filou, more of a cocktail bar, I pleasantly impressed with the selection of cocktails and other drinks and the cuisine. Delicious, properly cooked asparagus with seafood, grilled squid, fried perch, shrimp - I definitely liked it. The menu is quite large. The selection of drinks is also wide. Party atmosphere, closer to midnight live music. We went here twice and never regretted anything. After 18 there are not always free tables - you have to wait. The rating of the Sea view Koh Chang hotel on Booking and the Tripadvisor awards for this hotel are completely incomprehensible to me. Not really bad hotel, but there is definitely much better, so it seemed to me that the ratings were greatly inflated. There is no desire to be in this again. The quality of service does not correspond to the cost of living in my opinion. Although perhaps this opinion was formed under the influence of the absolutely heavenly sensations received at Shantaa Koh Kood, where I wrote this review and about which I will write separately.…

We are pleased to hear that you liked our resort views and facilities including the funicular (the only one on the island) and our golf carts. Our swimming pools have the lights on only until closing time as we close them at night for security purposes. We have plenty of natural wildlife in Koh Chang and the monkeys are one of them. You can find them anywhere on the island and we cant do more than scare them away should they start being intrusive and we have staff constantly walking around to prevent such situations, however, it is impossible for us to control all the monkeys that move freely through the jungle we are located in. Thank you for pointing out that our breakfast and the views from our Lighthouse restaurant is amazing. It is surely the restaurant with the best view on the island and we are well-known for it. Our menus are very extensive and depending on what food you feel like eating you can visit our Lighthouse Restaurant (Thai) or our Sunset Restaurant (Thai and Western). In terms of room amenities, we provide as standard 5 hangers for the wardrove however, more are always available upon request. Pool towels are available at the room, reception and our Sunset Restaurant and it is indicated on the information sheet placed on top the beach towels in your room. We are glad to read that you liked the cleanliness of your bedroom and that you saw that we have 3 staff members cleaning the beach since the early times of the morning, we will pass your comments to our Executive Housekeeper in order to speak to the public area cleaners and to retrain if necessary.
