The mechanism is very simple: a momentary stressful situation provokes the production of adrenaline. The brain receives a signal of danger, which triggers the production of painkillers such as dopamine and endorphin. It is these two components that successfully fight depression and create a feeling of happiness. But is it worth delving into the jungle of medical science if everyone already knows that attractions- this is fun, joy and unforgettable experience. All over the world, even in small towns, you can find amusement parks, but some are more impressive than others. That's why here are the 10 most extreme rides peace.

In 2000 in Japanese city The longest attraction in the world was opened in Nagashima. It stretches for almost 2.5 km. And this structure reaches 100 meters in height, which is comparable to a 30-story building. The route is replete with ups and downs, the passage of which at a speed of 150 km/h will not leave any lover of extreme entertainment indifferent. Since these roller coaster were opened in the Year of the Dragon, the eastern passion for symbols is reflected in the shape and name of the attraction. The curves of this route are very reminiscent of the silhouette of a steel dragon, which justifies its name. The cost of building the attraction amounted to more than $52 million. This staggering amount is largely due to unprecedented security measures, in particular, a system of protection against.

9. Kingda Ka

Since 2005, Kingda Ka has held the title of the tallest metal slide. This grandiose structure, 139 meters high, is located in New Jersey (USA). New Jersey is included in And if all over the world such structures are called roller coasters, then in America they are known as Russian ones. In less than 4 seconds, the trailers accelerate to 205 km/h, which allows you to fully appreciate rollercoaster American style. This attraction is much loved by visitors, but in 2009 it was closed for lengthy renovations. The fact is that lightning struck the structure, seriously damaging it. But after the renovation, Kingda Ka, as before, pleases daredevils from all over the world.

8. Son of the Beast

A slide with a scary name is also located. She began her work in 2000 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Son of beast's place among record holders is explained by the fact that it is the highest wooden slide. The height of this wooden structure is 66 meters. In addition, this is one of the few wooden slides with a loop. These rollercoaster visitors pass at a speed of 125 km/h.

7.Sochi Park

Since June 2014, Russia has had its own record holders for extreme rides. Located in the Olympic Village. Now fans of extreme entertainment can enjoy them to the fullest in Sochi Park. This amusement park prepared entertainment for every taste. Thus, the already famous “Quantum Leap” is a thrilling ride with a height of 58 m. On this roller coaster you can accelerate to 105 km/h. And the Firebird is the highest free-fall attraction in Russia. The car soars up to quickly fly 65 meters down. In total, Sochi Park has a dozen different attractions. In addition to extreme entertainment, you can visit the dolphinarium and experimentanium. Thanks to the latter, little visitors can learn through visual experiments what optics, acoustics, and mechanics are.

6. Colossus

The status of the most twisted metal roller coaster belongs to the Colossus attraction. This unusual building is located in Great Britain, ( The UK is also famous for its bizarre taxes and is one of the) or rather, in the city of Chertsey. The length of this attraction is 850 meters, and the height is only 30. But these slides are famous for another reason. They are designed in such a way that the trailers with people during the journey manage to turn upside down ten times. And even overcoming this intricate spiral at a relatively low speed - 65 km/h - allows extreme sports enthusiasts to fully get their dose of adrenaline.

5. White Cyclone

In 1995, an incredible roller coaster called “White Cyclone” was created in Japan, which is stunning with its ornate shape. The length of the track is 1700 meters, the height is 42 meters, and the maximum speed exceeds 100 km/h. It is worth noting that this attraction, outstanding in length, is made of wood. The amount of wood that went into the construction of this structure would be enough to build 1000 houses. But is it really possible to calculate the power of positive emotions that overwhelm visitors to the attraction? Adults no older than 54 years old, and children no less than 130 cm tall can experience the power of the “White Cyclone”.

4. Silver Star

The real European leader among roller coasters is the Silver Star. The attraction has a length of 1500 meters and a respectable height of 73 meters. The trailers in some areas accelerate to 100 km/h. These slides are located in the German amusement park Europa Park, which is larger in size only than the French Disneyland. The theme of Europa Park is very interesting: it is a smaller copy of Europe, namely 13 states. In addition, three fairy lands. There is definitely a lot to see in the park, and more than 4 million visitors a year are clear proof of this.

3. Takabisha

The Japanese attraction Takabisha was awarded by the Book of Records. The uniqueness of these slides lies in the largest angle of descent. The trailer literally falls from a height of 43 meters at an angle of 121 degrees. They say that it is these conditions that allow you to experience a state of weightlessness for several minutes. In addition, the Takabisha track has seven loops, flying through which at a speed of 100 km/h, visitors find themselves upside down.

2. Top Thrill Dragster

In 2003, when it opened in Sandusky, Ohio, the Top Thrill Dragster became an absolute record holder. At that time there were attractions, which differed in height, length or speed. Top Thrill Dragster stood out with four record-breaking indicators: as the fastest ride in its class and the highest. It was also distinguished from the rest by the presence of a section where the angle of incidence was 90 degrees. In addition, there is a 120-meter section of the route where a steep drop occurs. The slide is 850 meters long and reaches a height of 130 meters. At the same time, in some sections the trailers accelerate to 190 km/h. And even though today some of the outstanding indicators of this attraction have been broken, it has gone down in history as a record holder.

1. Stratosphere

The observation tower in Las Vegas is 350 meters high. Las Vegas has . This building is part of a complex that includes the Stratosphere Las Vegas casino and hotel. But this observation deck is used not only to admire the surroundings. Now it's the tallest amusement park in the world. Yes, yes, in this small area there are as many as three exciting attractions that will amaze the imagination. This has been the case since 2005. Before this, in 1996, the Big Shot catapult was built on the tower, allowing you to enjoy a free fall from a height of 329 meters. And a roller coaster that was certainly the tallest in the world. But the main advantage of this entertainment was its extraordinary height, otherwise the attraction was very mediocre. Firstly, it was very short in length, which is explained by the limited space on observation tower. Secondly, the speed of the trailers was artificially limited, which can also be considered a disadvantage. Therefore, in 2005 it was decided to dismantle roller coaster, and in their place 2 new attractions were installed. And now the carousel “Madness” spins people at an altitude of 300 meters. In this case, the seats are located in such a way that the person is in a face-down position, and this creates a feeling of flight. And the X Scream attraction allows you to understand what it’s like to fly downhill at an altitude of 350 meters. A carriage with visitors at speed on an inclined rail flies out of the site, stopping at the very last moment. “Stratosphere Las Vegas” is a good way to test your nerves.

There is no point in arguing about the place of attractions on this list. Each of them is the first in something. Having tested their nerves on all the listed attractions, any fan of extreme entertainment will be able to create their own unique top list.

The entertainment industry is considered the most promising industry today. Space resources are being invested in the construction of complex engineering structures. Projects are being implemented with impressive records of cost, height, speed, and acceleration. For the sake of getting a thrill, daredevils are ready to go to any part of the planet and part with any amount of money.

Every year, records in the entertainment industry change. The visitor demands more impressive sights. Carousels and Ferris wheels are growing up to the skies; high-speed roller coaster tracks are being built longer and higher. The designs of attractions are becoming even more complex. The list of the most adrenaline-pumping rides in the world includes: "Insanity", X-Scream, Kingda Ka, Colossus, Steel Dragon 2000, Tower of Terror, Top Thrill Dragster, Takabisha, Furius Baco, Formula Rossa.

10. "Insanity"

The "Insanity" attraction is located on the roof of the Stratosphere high-rise building (Las Vegas). It is the highest high-speed carousel on the planet, rotating at an altitude of over 300 m. The design has open passenger cabins, which adds to the thrill of the experience. The carousel protrudes 20 m from the edge of the building. Passengers fastened to their seats spin over the huge poor thing face down, while experiencing an overload of 3g.

9. X-Scream

Tourists come from all over the world to flirt with death at the hellish X-Scream attraction in Las Vegas. The swing is also located on the platform of the Stratosphere skyscraper. Daredevils are seated in an open trailer, which hovers over a 330-meter abyss. It makes your hair stand on end, even if you just imagine that the trolley is flying at full speed into a crazy abyss, its nose crosses the edge of the rails and, suddenly stopping, dives sharply down. And the passengers of the X-Scream trailer experience such horror more than once.

8. Kingda Ka

Kingda Ka is considered the world's tallest and fastest (second in speed) roller coaster. They are also called “fear machines.” The attraction, in the construction of which $25 million was invested, has been operating since 2005. It is located in the USA (New Jersey). Powerful hydraulics in 3.5 seconds. accelerates the carts to 206 km/h, “throwing” them to the very peak - a 139-meter height. This is equivalent to a skyscraper consisting of five nine-story buildings! The carriages on a loop-shaped, almost kilometer-long trajectory either rise, then dive deeper, or generally fly up along a vertical spiral-shaped track and also rush vertically down.

7. Colossus

In the city of Cherpsi (Anlia) in Thorpe Park, there is a metal roller coaster Colossus, with the most twisting track, the length of which is 850 m. The cars accelerate to 65 km/h. The peak height to which passengers rise is 30 meters. The trajectory is so twisted that when passing it a person turns head down 10 times. The route consists of a sheer drop, two spirals, and five twists. With such a movement, the passenger ceases to orient himself in space, not understanding where is up and where is down.

6. Steel Dragon

The longest (2479 m) roller coaster was built by the Japanese in 2000 in Nagashima. The construction of the original structure coincided with the year of the dragon. In this connection, its shape resembles the crest of a mystical animal and is called Steel Dragon, which means “iron dragon”. The highest point of the attraction is at a height of one hundred meters. This is almost a house of 30 floors! The speed of the trolleys reaches 150 km/h. The special feature of Steel Dragon is an incredible fall from a height of 93 meters.

5. Tower of Terror

In Australia (Gold Coast, Dreamworld Park) there is an unusual extreme ski jump called Tower of Terror. This translates into Russian as “tower of terror,” which in itself reveals the essence of the attraction. The roller coaster has been running since 2010. On the “lifeboat” “Escape Pod” - a trolley whose mass together with passengers is 6 tons, travelers rush upward and then fall, gradually stopping on a horizontal track. The electromagnetic drive accelerates the structure to 160 km/h in 7 seconds. When taking off upward to a height of 115 meters, which lasts just over 3 seconds, a person experiences an overload of 4.5g. The passenger is also in a fall at a speed of 160 km/h for just over 3 seconds. At the very top, passengers hang in the air for a moment. The total duration of the crazy extreme is 6.5 s.

4. Top Thrill Dragster

The ride on the top thrill dragster lasts 17 seconds. But these seconds seem like an eternity to the passengers of such a slide. The attraction was built in Ohio (USA) for $25,000,000. According to its characteristics, Top Thrill Dragster is in second place after the Kingda Ka coaster. The maximum height of the structure is 152 m, the length of the track is 850 m. A train of 5 cars accelerates to 193 km/h. The trajectory consists of a complex vertical section 120 m long. It provides passengers with a twisting fall. The thrill of the experience is complemented by the special effects (sounds of car engines, smells of exhaust) that accompany the trip.

3. Takabisha

In July 2011, in Japan, at the foot of Fuji (Yamanashi Prefecture), the world's coolest attraction called Takabisha, which translates as “willful,” opened. This is a real mountain of horror. Its design has the largest angle of descent. The kilometer-long track tickles the nerves of those skiing on 7 dead loops, and the descent is 121 degrees. tests the psyche of passengers for strength. In the middle of its journey, the cart rushes vertically down from a height of 43 m, simultaneously accelerating to 100 km/h. Instantly, the passengers find themselves in the real state of astronauts - absolute weightlessness.

2. Furius Baco

The Furius Baco speed slide operates in the Port Aventura park (Spain). Trolleys with passengers accelerate in 2.9-3.5 seconds to 135 km/h. Acceleration during acceleration increases to 10.7 m/s2, which is even higher for g (9.8 m/s2). The adrenaline is added by unusual chairs that are located on the sides of the rail. Passengers do not feel support under their feet and during the journey they seem to float in the air. At the end of the 850-meter track, the trailers rush a few cm above the water.

1.Formula Rossa

On the high-speed attraction Formula Rossa (UAE, Abu Dhabi), during the journey, passengers have time to flash their whole life in detail before their eyes. Incredibly, in 4.9 seconds the trolley manages to accelerate to 240 km/h! In addition, the track, which copies the legendary Monza race track, is fraught with many surprises in the form of ups and downs. High-speed track pilots are required to wear special goggles to protect their eyes.

We present to your attention the most terrible attractions in the world. The selection includes the most dangerous "carousels" from all over the planet, so it's time to buckle up and be brave!

Scientific research has shown that adrenaline is an excellent tool in the fight against stress, and since there are plenty of problems in our lives, more and more people feel the desire to face something dangerous, scary, which makes adrenaline run through the veins and make the heart beat everything is faster.

Attractions in this regard today occupy a leading place. Flying at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour, falling into a loop and immediately being thrown up - this will give anyone an adrenaline rush. At the same time, we will not rank the scariest attractions in this article, since everyone has different fears - some are afraid of heights, and others of sudden turns.

Stratosphere_Las_Vegas

We invite you to the observation tower of the Stratosphere Las Vegas hotel-casino. Its height is 350 meters! It is the second tallest observation tower in the Western Hemisphere, surpassed only by the CN Tower in Toronto. But for this reason, the attractions located at the top of the Stratosphere are considered undeniable world leaders in height.

There is plenty to choose from - the Big Shot tower, the Insanity carousel, and the monstrous X Scream trailer. At the same time, all the emotions from these risky attractions can be safely increased several times. After all, they pass at an altitude of 300 meters!

From 1996 to 2005, the observation tower housed a roller coaster that was the tallest in the world. However, due to design limitations, the High Roller trolley could not reach high speed: it was simply impossible to accelerate on the small heel of the roof. Therefore, in 2005, the local roller coaster, which, by the way, is called Russian all over the world, was changed to the creepy Insanity carousel and the scary X Scream car, which we will tell you about below.

Catapult "Big Shot"

The Big Shot catapult was opened in 1996. This attraction is considered the highest on the planet: it is capable of lifting daredevils to a height of 329 meters, and then sending them from this very height into a free fall at a speed of more than 70 kilometers per hour and with an amazing acceleration of 4g. The Big Shot is considered to be the finest viewing platform in the United States. But not all people have the courage, falling down at such speed, to enjoy the magnificent landscape outside the window.

Carousel"Insanity"("Madness")

Carousel Madness opened in 2005. This is the newest attraction of the Stratosphere, it is an ordinary carousel, only (!!!) it is considered the highest carousel on the planet, the movement on which is breathtaking. Imagine people spinning there over a three-hundred-meter abyss located 20 meters from the edge of the roof.

At the same time, the carousel rotates quite quickly, and the overload is 3g. Additionally, during the Madness spin, the daredevils are face down. It also remains to add that in such a carousel, passengers are placed not in closed, but in open cabins, so the sensation of spinning at breakneck speed over a bottomless abyss becomes even greater!

Car "X Scream"

The "X Scream" car appeared in 2005. It is considered the highest swing on the planet. Its essence is as follows: a short rail produces a rapid tilt, and the car at high speed rushes over the edge of a 350-meter roof into the abyss. Then the nose of the car brakes sharply, being far beyond the “solid ground.” This is one of the scariest rides in the world, and as you can even see from the photo, the fewest people want to ride it.

Free Fall Zone in Paramount, Ohio

The free fall zone at Paramount is a carousel platform that lifts those interested to a height of 100 meters (this is the height of a 26-story building) and drops them down at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour. True, to begin with, at such a height, daredevils will be allowed to sit for a while and admire the wonderful panorama that opens, and then unexpectedly they will be sent off to a paid free fire! This is where there is a flurry of screams and adrenaline is produced furiously!

Catapult "Flying Dutchman"

The Flying Dutchman catapult helps people experience the beauty of extreme flight. So, at first all the cables are tightly stretched, and the “cocoon” with visitors froze in anticipation, but the operator presses a button and the mechanical locking is turned off, then the power to the magnet is turned off and the daredevils, with their own terrible screams, quickly fly up to a height of 40 meters!

To better imagine this, let's say that we're talking about about the height of a 15-story building. Then the “cocoon” comes back, and then soars up again. And so several times in a row, giving visitors an unforgettable flight experience!

As a bonus, the entire flight can be filmed with an “on-board” wireless color video camera. For many people, this subsequently becomes their favorite video - and allows them to experience the same emotions again and cause the envy of others. True, the management of the attraction still advises you to first watch the video filmed in extreme conditions for yourself: not everyone in such a catapult looks like fearless daredevils.

Well, and besides, look how gorgeous the Flying Dutchman catapult looks! The organizers created a real light show, 35 meters high. It remains to add that the dynamic lighting system consists of 2000 lamps, 36 channels and 6 colors.

"Catapult" - amusement park "Divo Island", St. Petersburg

It is very pleasant that the Russian “Catapult” is also included in the list of the most terrible attractions in the world. It is located in St. Petersburg in the Divo Island amusement park. This is an attraction whose height is 54 meters, which is higher than the previous “carousel”. It consists of three huge columns, to which powerful metal cables are attached.

The operators pull the cables, and one of the capsules quickly takes off, then it goes down, and then flies up again, and so on until it comes to a complete stop. In addition, during the flight the capsule also turns around its axis. At the same time, the attraction is also enchantingly illuminated, which adds undeniable sophistication and charm to it.

And now we are talking exclusively about roller coasters, since they are in the following list of the most terrible attractions. Apparently, in fact, there is nothing more terrible and dangerous than them!

Kingda Ka (New Jersey, USA)

The Kinga Ka roller coaster opened in New Jersey in 2005. Their height is 139 meters. They are the tallest metal slide in the world. It is also one of the fastest rides in the world. Using a hydraulic mechanism, the trolley accelerates to a speed of 205 kilometers per hour in 3.5 seconds! In the spring of 2009, Kinga Ka was struck by lightning. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but complex repairs to the slides were then necessary. But today the attraction is again in operational readiness and happily welcoming visitors.

Colossus, England

The Colossus roller coaster is located in England, in the city of Chertsey, and more specifically in Thorpe Park. They rightfully bear the title of the world's tightest steel roller coaster. They are located at an altitude of 30 meters, the length of the track is 850 meters, and the maximum speed is 65 kilometers per hour. The track is designed so that you can end up upside down exactly 10 times and then return to your normal position.

White Cyclone, Japan

The White Cyclone roller coaster in Japan is 42 meters high (the height of a 14-story building). Their length is 1.7 kilometers, and their maximum speed is 100 kilometers per hour. Look at the photo: you will agree that this device amazes not only with its technical characteristics, but also excellent performance.

Son of beast (Cincinnati, USA)

In 2000, the unique Son of beast roller coaster appeared in the USA. The fact is that it is considered the tallest wooden slide in the world: its height is 66 meters! Until 2006, this attraction was generally recognized as the only wooden slide in the world with a loop.

Steel Dragon 2000 (Nagashima, Japan)

It’s not for nothing that the Steel Dragon roller coaster is translated as “Steel Dragon”. It is shaped like a dragon's crest and was erected in 2000, which was considered the Year of the Dragon according to the eastern calendar. So, the slide itself is almost 100 meters high, which is comparable to a 30-story building. The length of the structure is 2479 meters, which makes it the longest roller coaster in the world.

Dodonpa (Fujiyoshida, Japan)

Visitors to the Dodonpa roller coaster in Japan claim that riding such an attraction makes you feel like being shot from a cannon, where you were the core. And this comparison is absolutely accurate, because the movement on the slide is 4 times higher than the acceleration of free fall. In this case, the train will accelerate in 2 seconds immediately to a speed of 172 kilometers per hour. The entire journey is only 55 seconds, but it can seem like an eternity on this Japanese roller coaster!

Silver Star (Europa Park,Germany)

Silver Star, located at Europa Park in Germany, is famous for being the largest roller coaster located in Europe. Their length is more than 1.5 kilometers, and their maximum height reaches 73 meters. Communication with such slides allows you to feel like a real fighter pilot. How could it be otherwise - the same turns, and the speed on the track in some places exceeds 100 kilometers per hour!

Tower of Terror II (Dreamworld,Queensland, Australia)

It is not for nothing that the name of the roller coaster Tower of Terror II in Australia is literally translated as Tower of Terror. In fact, people in it are under the influence of stunning emotions, and it’s impossible to get out - even if you really want to. So, visitors to the attraction first take off like an arrow to a height of 115 kilometers, and then, after a “steep” deceleration at altitude, they quickly fall down, leaving them in highest point aerobatics all your thoughts.

At the same time, the downward movement is carried out at wild speed in 6.9 seconds, which is close to a state of weightlessness. With such a fall, some people scream with all their might, others begin to pray, and still others are simply speechless. But the extreme does not end there: the trolley quickly rises up again and only then drops visitors off at the launch pad.

Intimidator 305 (a parkKings Dominion,Virginia, USA)

The Intimidator 305 roller coaster lives up to its name, as it is located in Virginia, in the United States of America, and not in Germany or Japan. Intimidator 305 is one of the most modern American attractions: The project is only one year old. The main feature of the slide is that the engineers created a 1.6-kilometer-long track with many sharp turns.

And certain climbs are designed specifically in such a way that visitors to the attraction get the impression that they are about to reach the end of the path!! - the trolley must definitely fall off the rails! As you can imagine, high-pitched screams of horror are commonplace here. And sometimes you can’t do without fainting...

Takabisha(a parkFuji- QHighland, Fujiyoshida, Japan)

The Takabis roller coaster was recently built in the land of the rising sun. This is a unique attraction that has the largest descent angle in the world. For this he was even included in the Guinness Book of Records. The Takabisha slides can tickle the nerves of even the most “advanced” daredevils. Look, in front of you is a one kilometer long track consisting of seven steep loops.

A special test of the psyche occurs on the descent with a record steep angle of incidence equal to 121 degrees. In addition, halfway through the journey, the trolley literally falls down from a height of 43 meters (which is approximately equal to the height of a 15-story building), and all this happens at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour! Then passengers also experience rapid takeoffs and falls again, almost to a state of weightlessness. Thanks to such turns, many Japanese even temporarily acquire a European appearance, well, judging by their enlarged eyes!!

Thunder Dolphin (Tokio Dome City,Japan)

Known for its unique design, the Thunder Dolphin roller coaster is located in Tokyo, Japan. The ribbon of a dizzying track wraps around a specially erected hollow structure. Seat belts are fastened and visitors are off! And it all starts with a stunning 65-meter drop down a steep 80-degree slope. The trolley is then driven through two openings in buildings, which is also a test of fearlessness. In total the race takes place with maximum speed at 130 kilometers per hour and looks like an endless series of ups, downs, and also flying through round holes.

At the same time, the second photograph shown to you allows you to imagine how a person who is about to fly down feels! Agree that just the sight of this dizzying height makes your heart clench with fear. However, we all think at the same time, “Wow! What height!" and with white envy we envy the lucky ones - the visitors of this attraction!

Formula Rossa (Ferrari World,Abu- Dabi, UAE)

Formula Rossa is the fastest roller coaster in the world. The trolleys of this attraction accelerate to 240 kilometers per hour. And this speed is achieved in just about 4.9 seconds. Perhaps it is precisely in this short time that visitors to the carousel manage to flash their whole life before their eyes. At least they leave the trailers with completely different facial expressions than at the beginning!

But it doesn't stop when you reach breakneck speed in the Formula Rossa ride. On the contrary, this is only the beginning of a balancing act along the way. The track is the legendary Monza race track, which is famous for its huge number of steep climbs and descents. Many racers train on this track, for whom, after such sharp turns, ordinary competition tracks seem like playing with cars on the floor of the house.

The degree of speed on this roller coaster is evidenced by the fact that those wishing to ride here are only allowed to wear special safety glasses, which are issued by the instructors. Otherwise, there is a risk of colliding with dust particles in the air at high speed and may cause eye injury. However, in the presented photograph for some reason this requirement is not met... But it remains to add that the height of the Formula Rossa, which, by the way, is located in United Arab Emirates, is 52 meters, and the maximum overload corresponds to 4.8 g.

Furius Baco (Port Aventura Park, Spain)

The Spanish roller coaster Furius Baco is unique in its own way. The trolleys immediately accelerate to an incredible speed from the start - 135 kilometers per hour! And this happens in just 3.0 seconds. It is important that the acceleration value is 10.7 meters per second, while the free fall acceleration rate is 9.8 meters per second. At such moments, the public's reaction can be described as a transition from a heart-rending scream to deathly silence in anticipation of imminent death.

Thrills also arise from the unusual design of the seats, which are placed on the sides of the rails. This ensures that daredevils literally float in the air and do not feel any support under their feet. Their entire journey lasts a few minutes: they conquer 850 meters of path, and at the end they rush a couple of centimeters above the surface of the water, which is very refreshing in the Spanish summer heat.

There are a huge number of different attractions in the world, but those that are truly capable of capturing the imagination can be counted on one hand. And among others, the hotel-casino, which bears the name “Stratosphere Las Vegas,” stands out in a special way. Its observation tower is the tallest in the city, but its attractions are considered the most attractive for tourists from all over the world.

Stratosphere Las Vegas

This building is like a magnet for all fans of extreme sports and those who like to experience a crazy and somewhat sweet feeling of danger. And indeed, looking at the Stratosphere swings, it is impossible to even imagine more elegant and at the same time frightening rides.

The hotel-casino has a rather impressive height - just over 350 m with a spire. If you stand at such a height and look down from behind the fence, you will already feel dizzy. Just imagine the feeling when, at the same height, there is nothing under your feet. This is exactly how one of the carousels is designed, which takes everyone thirsty for thrills beyond the upper tier.

If that's not enough for you, then you can get a couple more doses of adrenaline on two other devices: the Big Shot catapult and the completely harmless-looking XSCREAM trailer. But more on this below.

Speaking about the most dangerous attraction in the world, it is impossible not to mention the special entertainment that was enjoyed here a little earlier. During 1996-2005. The Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower was famous for its roller coasters, which were later replaced by the above-described carousels. What happened? It's all about a small area in which the trailer was not able to develop sufficient speed. Because of these design restrictions, the fun was prohibited.

It is worth noting here the fact that, given a sufficient amount of territory, these roller coasters would not only have every right to exist, but could absolutely justifiably be considered the highest altitude on the entire planet.

The Big Shot - catapult

So, if you have overcome your fear and decided to climb to a height of three hundred meters in order to slightly improve your mood, then get ready for the fact that your vestibular system will now experience serious stress. Almost everyone knows what free fall is, but to experience this feeling for yourself... Are you ready? If yes, then the oldest attraction of the Stratosphere, the Big Shot catapult, is waiting!

This carousel is a square frame with chairs around the perimeter. They rush down at crazy speed and slide along the spire of the building, after which they sharply brake and just as quickly head up. And here there is no longer an opportunity to admire the opening landscapes, of course, because the falling speed exceeds 70 km/h with an additional acceleration of 4g.

Insanity the Ride – carousel “Madness”

Not everyone can agree to participate in this action. The eloquent name of the carousel describes its essence as accurately as possible. The attraction Insanity the Ride, or “Madness,” is somewhat similar to a huge claw, on each tentacle of which there are seats. Those who want to experience real horror sit in these chairs and are fixed in them, after which the rotating console takes the carousel 20 m outside the tower.

At this moment, the sensations of the direct participants in the event are immediately multiplied by the 300-meter height. But that's not all! Once you are outside the Stratosphere, the carousel begins to spin quickly, reaching a speed of 65 km/h. At the same time, the chairs smoothly move back, approaching a horizontal position. Thus, the lucky passengers experience a g-force of about 3 g and can see the ground in front of them, which is located at a distance of just under 300 m.

Adding to the excitement is the fact that the seats on this crazy carousel are completely open and extreme sports fans have the opportunity to fully experience the beauty of free rotation over a giant abyss. The feelings are indescribable!

XSCREAM – trailer

This attraction is the youngest and is located below the first two - at an altitude of only 264 m. But despite this, the little “XSCREAM” bears the title of the highest swing in the world. This small trailer is considered the most dangerous entertainment. Why? Judge for yourself:

  • the relatively large and rather weighty structure balances at an impressive height;
  • passengers are secured in their seats, but the trailer itself remains open;
  • under all the above conditions, the carousel begins its movement over the abyss, quickly accelerates and brakes sharply;
  • during braking, the nose of the trailer ends up outside the front edge of the rail.

It is here that you can experience all-consuming horror and “reward” yourself with a new phobia. The XSCREAM car is the scariest and most dangerous attraction not only at the Stratosphere Las Vegas hotel-casino, but throughout the world. By the way, of all three attractions located in this building, the trailer is the least in demand. A little strange, isn't it?

Thanks to adrenaline, we become faster and stronger, cope better with life's problems and overcome weakness more effectively. Recent research by scientists suggests that adrenaline can also be a wonderful help in the fight against... stress.

Single bursts of adrenaline, which come and go in rapid waves - something like when you are racing, say, in a loop at a speed of 150 km/h - are simply life-saving because they fill us with energy and mobilize us to immediate reactions. A sudden rush of oxygen into the blood stimulates the entire circulatory system, the defense system, and also sends a command to the brain to release painkillers endorphin and dopamine for us, which improve our well-being.

So, if you don’t faint at the sight of the “Tea Couple,” then I suggest you familiarize yourself with the scariest attractions in the world!

"Above the Roof of the World"

At 350 meters high, the Stratosphere Las Vegas Casino Hotel Observation Tower is the second tallest observation tower in the Western Hemisphere, surpassed by the CN Tower in Toronto. But the attractions located at the top of the Stratosphere are the undisputed leaders in height in the world.

It doesn't matter which of the three you choose: tower, carousel Insanity or a monstrous trailer - in any case, your sensations will be multiplied by three hundred meters in height. From 1996 to 2005, the last two attractions replaced the High Roller roller coaster, which automatically became the most high slide in the world. Unfortunately, design limitations did not allow the High Roller trolley to develop high speeds and overloads: the slide was located on a small patch of roof around the Big Shot mast and there was simply nowhere to accelerate. Therefore, after 2005, it was replaced by X Scream and Insanity.

Catapult "Big Shot"

Year of opening: 1996. The highest attraction on the planet, capable of lifting you to a height of 329 meters at a speed of over 70 km/h and a monstrous acceleration of 4g. Next you will have a free fall from this very height. This oldest Stratosphere attraction is the best Observation deck in the United States - if only you have the courage to enjoy the scenery at that speed.

Carousel "Insanity" ("Madness").

Year of opening: 2005. The tallest carousel on the planet. The latest Stratosphere attraction is a regular carousel. Unless you have to spin over a 300-meter abyss 20 meters from the edge of the roof. Insanity rotates quite quickly, developing a g-force of 3g. Of course, passengers are face down during rotation. And, if you consider that people on the carousel are not seated in closed booths, but on open seats, then the sensation of spinning at wild speed over the abyss should be simply indescribable!

Car "X Scream"

Year of opening: 2005. The most high swing on the planet. The short rail tilts decisively, the trolley quickly accelerates and rushes into the abyss, over the edge of the roof of a 350-meter tower. When braking, the nose of the car goes far beyond the rail, which makes X Scream one of the scariest rides on the planet. But it seems that this is the attraction where the least number of people want to ride. I wonder why this would be?)))

Or rather, we are falling

Free Fall Zone in Paramount, Ohio.

The platform of this “carousel” takes you to a height of 26 floors, or 100 meters. “Are you afraid of heights?”))) But this is not a reason to scream and actively produce adrenaline! After “examining the surroundings,” the daredevils fly down at a speed of more than 100 km/h.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that some articles about this attraction mentioned an analogue from the cultural capital of Russia - “Free Fall” on Divo Island!

History is silent about where it is... where is it - the highest. Some even call one of the three Stratosphere attractions a catapult, but this is still a little different...

Flying Dutchman catapult, 35m high.

Let's skip the preludes and move on to the flight!!! When the cables are fully tensioned, the operator, by pressing a button, turns off the mechanical locking, and then the power to the magnet, and the “cocoon” with visitors quickly flies up to a height of up to 40 m!!! Just imagine being at the height of a 15-story building in a matter of seconds! Then the “cocoon” flies down, then up again, and so on several times in a row. The feeling of such a flight is never forgotten!

The most remarkable thing is that the entire flight, at the request of visitors, can be recorded right on the spot using an “on-board” wireless color video camera. In addition, we can show all this hellish action to our acquaintances and friends through a DVD player. But it’s better to watch it first, alone or together, so as not to spoil your reputation in the eyes of others))))

Dynamic lighting system based on multi-colored Italian lamps - 36 channels, 2000 lamps, 6 colors, 26 kilowatts - SUPER light show 35m high!

Again, it’s very, very nice that in many videos with a selection of the most extreme rides in the world, it takes place:

"Catapult", in the amusement park "Divo Island" St. Petersburg.

The attraction is 54 meters high (i.e. we conclude that it is higher than the previous one), consisting of three huge columns to which metal cables are attached. When the cables are tensioned, one of the capsules rapidly flies up and then falls down - and so on until it comes to a complete stop. It is noteworthy that during the flight the capsules also turn around their axis. The system is the same, the swing is higher than the previous one, but somehow in “The Dutchman” everything is so enchantingly illuminated that he jumped out of turn))))

In some cases, you can also pray)))

Now, with a clear conscience, I can say: “Let's go!”

Let's move on to them, to the source of wild adrenaline, speed, and low-frequency screams - Roller coaster !!!

By the way, it’s not for nothing that we call roller coasters American (in the States, on the contrary, they are called Russian): most of the record-breaking rides are located in the USA.

Kingda Ka (New Jersey, USA)

Year of opening: 2005 Height: 139 meters. The tallest metal slide in the world. The hydraulic mechanism accelerates the trolley to 205 km/h in 3.5 seconds, making Kinga Ka one of the most dynamic rides in the world. In May 2009, the hill was struck by lightning, necessitating complex repairs. The attraction is currently in full operational readiness.

Well, let's take his word for it. I can’t say that my heart trembled, although... maybe the angle was bad)))

White Cyclone, Japan

The height of the attraction is 42 meters (about the size of a 14-story building), length is 1.7 km, maximum speed is more than 100 km/h

I admit, this attraction impressed not so much with its technical characteristics, but with its execution))

Son of beast (Cincinnati, USA)

Year of opening: 2000. Height: 66 m. The highest wooden slide in the world. Until 2006, it was the only wooden slide with a loop.

Steel Dragon 2000 (Nagashima, Japan)

Almost 100 meters high (a 30-story building) and 2479 meters long, the world's longest roller coaster, the eloquently named "Steel Dragon" is shaped like a dragon's crest and was built in 2000 - the year of the dragon.

Dodonpa ( Fujiyoshida , Japan)

Those who have ridden this rollercoaster claim that it feels as if there was a shot from a cannon, where the passenger was the cannonball. Which, in principle, is not surprising given that the acceleration of free fall is four times higher. The train accelerates to 172 kilometers per hour in less than 2 seconds. The entire journey of 55 seconds can seem like an eternity.

Silver Star (Europa Park, Germany)

The largest roller coaster in Europe, Silver Star, is just over 1.5 kilometers long and maximum height 73 meters. Taking a ride on them, you can feel like a real fighter pilot: at some moments the speed on the track exceeds 100 kilometers per hour!

Tower of terror II (Dreamworld, Queensland, Australia )

Visitors to the Tower of Terror ( The Tower of Terror) shoot up like an arrow to a height of 115 meters. After a rather sharp deceleration at the top, some passengers lose all thoughts. Having fallen down in 6.9 seconds at wild speed and experiencing a state of weightlessness, the other part of the thrill seekers are speechless. But the adventure doesn't end there - The trolley quickly rises again and only then drops the guests off at the starting point.

Intimidator 305 (Kings Dominion Park, Virginia, USA )

Intimidator 305 is one of the most modern American attractions. The project was launched last year. Engineers created many sharp turns on the 1.6-kilometer-long track. On certain climbs, due to specially selected parameters, the illusion is created that at the end of the journey the trolley will certainly fall off the rails...

Takabisha (Fuji-Q Highland Park , Fujiyoshida , Japan)

In the land of the rising sun, a unique attraction Takabisha was recently built with the largest descent angle in the world, for which it was included in the Guinness Book of Records. The kilometer-long roller coaster track will tickle the nerves of daredevils riding on seven loops, and extreme sports enthusiasts can test their psyche on the descent with a record fall angle of 121 degrees. In the middle of the journey, from a 43-meter height (the height of a 15-story building), the trolley literally falls down and almost instantly accelerates to about 100 kilometers per hour. Coupled with the breakneck speed, passengers find themselves in a state of complete weightlessness for several moments.

Thunder Dolphin (Tokio Dome City, Japan)

The Thunder Dolphin attraction is known for its unique structure. The track wraps around a specially built hollow structure. The start begins with a dizzying 65-meter drop from an 80-degree slope. During the journey, the train passes through two openings of the building, which makes the heart beat faster. The race on the track takes place at a maximum speed of about 130 kilometers per hour.

Abstract from the quality of the next photo and imagine how the person who will fly down feels at that moment)))

Formula Rossa (Ferrari World, Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Formula Rossa is the world's fastest roller coaster. The ride's trolley accelerates to 240 kilometers per hour in approximately 4.9 seconds. It’s not a fact that before the eyes of the attraction’s voluntary victims their lives flash in every detail, but the balancing act continues along the way. On the track, which takes the form of the legendary Monza race track, trolley pilots will experience many ups and downs. Due to the high speed and possible risk of colliding with particles in the air, riders are required to wear special safety glasses. After the end of the trip, employees prepare seats for new adrenaline hunters)

Furius Baco (Port Aventura Park, Spain)

The speed on the Furius Baco is incredible. Immediately from the start, it accelerates to 135 kilometers per hour in just 2.9-3.5 seconds, while the acceleration is approximately 10.7 m/s, which exceeds the acceleration of free fall (9.8 m/s). The public's reaction varies from heart-rending screaming to mute silence in anticipation of imminent death. Adding to the thrill is the unusual design of the seats, which are located on the sides of the rail, so that travelers literally hang in the air, without feeling any support under their feet. At the end of the 850-meter route, the trolleys are literally a couple of centimeters above the water, which turns out to be even pleasant in the Spanish summer heat.

how good they feel...))))

“He who doesn’t take risks doesn’t drink champagne”...

“He who is not afraid to take risks wins”...

In this case it doesn't work. Even if 20 people are trying to persuade you, and you don’t like all this, then film them during the “death ride” and eat cotton candy)))

Which attraction would you go on (assuming you pay)?

And what if they paid you?
