« Aeroflot» is the largest and most popular airline in Russia. Every day, powerful and large airliners take to the skies from the airfield, capable of delivering passengers to anywhere on the planet. Many people are interested in learning details about the aircraft in service with this company. To do this, consider an air fleet " Aeroflot"and find out what aircraft models the carrier can boast of.

« Aeroflot"began operation in 1923, but today the air carrier's arsenal includes modern and improved aircraft models. This high-quality and fairly young fleet has brought the company to first place among Russian air carriers. As you know, the age of an airliner is a significant criterion in the service and quality of flights performed. And the carrier strictly follows the latest trends. Therefore, the average age of any ship that is on the airline’s balance sheet is 4 years.

Few people know that the airline was originally named " Dobrolet", and only in 1932 they decided to rename the enterprise to " Aeroflot" It is believed that until 1991, airlines provided flight services only on Russian-made airliners. At the beginning of the 21st century, the air carrier expanded its fleet with ships from well-known global manufacturers.

Since the beginning of 2000, the airline has been constantly purchasing and ordering new products released on the global aviation market, and replenishing the company’s balance sheet with improved and modernized Russian airliners.

Airline customers fly on airliners because these models are considered the best aircraft on the market. Due to the abundance of foreign-made ships in the company's arsenal, the company's management considered and implemented the idea of changing the uniform of the company's working personnel.

Air carrier program and plans

Now let's move on to considering the question of how many aircraft " Aeroflot» and what models of airliners are presented to passengers for flights. The airline has 189 models on its balance sheet, but this figure is constantly updated. Recently, Aeroflot's fleet was replenished with 13 new Boeing 777 aircraft.

During 2017–2018, a large purchase of Boeing 787 airliners and aircraft is expected. The company plans to purchase 22 aircraft of each group. However, the airlines' arsenal also includes other, no less comfortable and modernized aircraft that were manufactured in Russia.

Since 2011, the air carrier has put into operation the Russian Sukhoi SuperJet-100 aircraft, and in 2017 it plans to purchase at least 20 more aircraft of this type. In addition, Aeroflot plans to replenish its fleet with 50 aircraft from the famous Russian manufacturer MS-21.

Assessing the presented plans of Aeroflot for the near future, we note with confidence that the airline will consolidate its leadership among other air carriers in the country for a long time. In addition, the enterprise will have a chance of recognition on the world stage, increasing the status and prestige of the state. Let us note that today this carrier is already one of the hundred leading airlines in the world.

Description of the flotilla

It's time to get acquainted with the details. Let's find out what planes " Aeroflot» are in use today and how these models differ. By the beginning of 2017, the company offers travelers the following brands and models of aircraft: Boeing 777 and 737, Airbus A330, A321, A320 and Sukhoi SuperJet-100. All of these vessels are designed exclusively for the transport of passengers and have been designed to provide maximum in-flight comfort.

Boeing 777-300ER

The modification of this aircraft is intended to fly on long distances. The dimensions of the vessel are striking in size: the length of the aircraft hull reaches 73.9 m with a wingspan of 64.8 meters. Such aircraft gain altitude up to 13 kilometers at a cruising speed of 900 km/h. With a maximum on-board weight of 317 tons, the vessel is capable of covering a distance of up to 11 thousand km.

The name familiar to us was assigned to it in 1932. Despite such a significant age, the airline's fleet is young - the average age of aircraft is 4.2 years.

Aeroflot equipment

When starting its activities, the company used exclusively Soviet-made aircraft. Over the decades of existence, some models have been replaced by others. The foundation of the current fleet dates back to the early 90s of the last century, when the airline was actively putting foreign equipment into operation. Foreign manufacturers of Aeroflot cars are the European corporation Airbus SAS (factories are located in France and Germany) and the American company Boeing Company (the main manufacturer is located in Seattle).

In Aeroflot's fleet of domestic equipment, this moment there are Sukhoi Superjet machines developed by the corporation " Civil aircraft Sukhoi" (international designation - aircraft su9 or su95).

Aircraft modifications

The company's current aircraft fleet includes not only different types of aircraft, but also their various modifications. What kind of aircraft from a foreign manufacturer is used by Aeroflot, and how many of them are in the air carrier’s fleet, can be found out from the table below.

Types of aircraft and their modifications from foreign manufacturers

Aeroflot plans to introduce new models starting in 2018 Airbus aircraft A350-900 to replace some outdated aircraft, and a little later the double-decker Boeing 747-400.

Russian short-haul Sukhoi aircraft are produced in several modifications. Aeroflot uses Superjet type 100-95V machines, created on the basis of the basic version. This is one of the first Russian airliners whose noise level meets European requirements. A total of 22 models were produced, of which 10 are in Aeroflot’s fleet.

These aircraft began to be mass-produced in 2011, and at the same time the first aircraft appeared at Aeroflot. The first commercial flight on this type of aircraft by the air carrier was carried out in June of the same year on the route Moscow (Sheremetyevo) - St. Petersburg (Pulkovo).

Additional Information. Each Aeroflot aircraft is assigned common names in honor of outstanding people of Russia (names of scientists, writers, representatives of the arts). For example, the 32nd Airbus A320, which entered the carrier’s fleet in 2009, is named “Ivan Pavlov”.

For those interested, information about what names are given to what type of airliner will be provided by the company’s website at the link https://www.aeroflot.ru/ru-ru/flight/plane_park.

Aeroflot continues to actively cooperate with the Sukhoi design bureau, placing an order for 20 new aircraft, so that in 2018 the carrier will already have 50 Superjet aircraft in its fleet, for which it has prepared its own names. In addition, it is planned to supply the latest Irkut MS-21 airliners, produced by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant and being the official brainchild of 2 design bureaus - Yakovlev and Ilyushin.

Main features of aircraft

Aeroflot airline cares about its prestige and the safety of passengers, therefore it pays great attention to the equipment it operates. The carrier's fleet includes only aircraft from significant manufacturers that have managed to gain worldwide popularity.

Airplane seating plans

If the planes used by Aeroflot are externally similar to each other in terms of plumage, then inside the model they have some differences related to the arrangement seats. A diagram of the cabin of each type of aircraft used by Aeroflot is given below the description.

Airbus A320

Narrow-body aircraft fly short and medium ranges. The length of the Airbus is 37.6 m, the wingspan is 34.1 m.

The layout of the seats in the cabin has 2 varieties: in the 1st version, 5 rows are allocated for business class, in the 2nd - 2 rows in a 2x2 layout. In economy class, a 2x3 seating arrangement is used (i.e., there is 1 aisle between the seats in the center of the cabin). Toilets on board are adapted for passengers with disabilities.

Airbus A321

This type of narrow-body aircraft also belongs to the medium-range aircraft, but has a greater length than the 320 model - 44.5 m with a wingspan of 34.1 m.

There are 3 optionsSeating breakdowns for business and economy classes:

  • in 2 variants (slightly different in the layout of seats in economy class) with a total number of 36 rows, the first 4 are reserved for business class according to a 2x2 layout;
  • in the 3rd version, the cabin is equipped with 31 rows, business class occupies the first 7.

Each variant has a separate toilet for disabled people at the rear of the aircraft.

Airbus A330

Wide-body aircraft are used on long-distance routes. The 200th modification airliner has a length of 58.8 m, the 300th modification is 63.7 m, the wingspan in both cases is 60.3 m.

The A330-200 model has 37 rows of seats, 6 of which are reserved for business class (3x2). In economy class, 2 side sections have 2 seats each, the middle section has 4 seats in a row, with the exception of the 11th, from 34 to 37 (there are 3 seats each).

The A330-300 has an almost identical cabin, but has 45 rows and a slightly different seating arrangement in business class.

Boeing 737

The narrow-body jet aircraft is used as a medium-haul transport. The length of the aircraft is 39.5 m, the wingspan is 35.8 m. The layout of seats in the cabin is as follows: rows 1 to 5 are reserved for business class according to a 2x2 layout; from 6 to 28 – for economy 2x3.

Boeing 777

The long-range wide-body aircraft has a length of 73.9 m and a wingspan of 64.8 m. In the cabin of this aircraft, seats are allocated for another category - the “comfort” class, located between “business” and “economy” and occupying rows from 11 to 16. In the business class cabin, the seats can easily be converted into cozy sofas for relaxation.

Sukhoi Superjet 100

The SU narrow-body passenger aircraft for short-haul flights has a length of 29.9 m and a wingspan of 27.8 m. The business class has 12 seats arranged in 3 rows in a 2x2 pattern. For the economy class, rows 6 to 20 are allocated, with asymmetric seating arrangement - 2 seats on the left side, 3 on the right side.

Note! Each of the described models has the ability to transport recumbent passengers. The stretcher is installed in the rear of the cabin so as not to disturb other passengers.

Description of seats by block of rows

In every cabin of any aircraft there are priority seats where passengers feel most comfortable. But there are also seats installed that can make the flight tiring. For passengers flying with small children, special seats are allocated, next to which there are mounts for bassinets.

The table below provides comparative information on the distribution of seats in the cabins according to their degree of comfort.

When choosing seats for a flight with small children, passengers try to book those rows where a portable cradle can be secured. But this option is limited, so you can opt for chairs that have free space if they are not installed near the emergency exit.

Note! Worst places are considered to be those located in close proximity to toilets - the peculiar smell, the constant walking of passengers cause discomfort.

Seats with fixed backs are uncomfortable - a long flight in these seats will be tiring. The rows in the wing area also have a low degree of comfort due to the running engines.

Amenities on the plane

Aeroflot not only cares about the comfort of its passengers, but also provides them with leisure time during flights. This opportunity is given technical features aircraft models used (the table below provides information).

Fleet of Russian airlines as of March 2016

From month to month, the travel portal WORLD-S publishes to you information about the average age of the aircraft fleet of Russian airlines, as well as statistical data on the increase in/departure from the aircraft fleet, the reasons. What has changed in Russian aviation in March 2016 compared to February 2016?

Over the past month, there have been several emergency emergency landings, but fortunately no one on board was injured. On February 11, 2016, Orenburg Airlines made an emergency landing with a burning engine at the airport in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic). The Punta Cana-Moscow flight was carried out on a Boeing 777-200 aircraft. The charter carrier Azur Air, flying from Moscow to Phuket, was forced to land a Boeing 767-300 aircraft at Tashkent airport on February 26, 2016 due to a tripped oil level sensor. Several cases of planes skidding off the runway, particularly Ural Airlines. BUT GOODLY, all the incidents only caused fear to the passengers and worries to their loved ones.

We propose to consider the general table of aircraft movements in airlines and changes in average age.

*More detailed information about a specific air carrier fleet can be found on our website in the Russian Airlines section.

Analysis of statistical changes in the fleet:

Airpark Aeroflot increased by 2 units. through the acquisition of Airbus A320 from the leasing company GTLK Europe Ltd. Deliveries of new Airbuses for 2016 are planned in the amount of 7 units by the end of the year. Launches since May 2016 regular flights from Moscow to Alicante.

Air charter carrier fleet I-Fly has been reduced to a minimum - now it consists of two aircraft. The Airbus A330-300 (February 2016 – tail number EI-ETI) and Boeing 757-200 (February 2016 – tail number EI-DUC) dropped out. The average term was not affected. Now I Fly sends tourists on two aircraft, models A330-300 (age 20.1 years) and Boeing 757-200 (age 15 years). The reason was most likely a decline in demand for tourist destinations and maybe financial difficulties. Therefore, now a tourist does not have to think too much about which plane he will fly on. There are only TWO of them.

Azur Air received from Nordwind Airlines Boeing 737-800NG aircraft with an age of 14 years, thereby increasing its fleet.

Nordwind Airlines reduced its fleet by 5 aircraft due to falling tourist demand in certain destinations.

Since 02/29/2016, Rostov-on-Don opened 4 new routes to Samara, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Sochi - thereby increasing the fleet of CRJ-100ER purchased on the secondary market from the French airline Brit Air with a term of 18 years. As a result, the average age of the aircraft fleet has increased.

Orenburg Airlines The Boeing 777-200 was not written off after an emergency landing at Punta Cana airport due to an investigation and clarification of the causes. But we can already talk about minus 1 aircraft.

Based on the above, we can say that sufficient changes have occurred in Russian aviation over the past month. Some air carriers are expanding their route network, others are reducing aviation costs to a minimum - getting rid of aircraft due to the decline in tourist flow and the closure of some tourist destinations(Turkey, Egypt).
