In the mid-20th century, Kyiv became known as one of the greenest cities in the world. “I have seen many parks in cities, but this is the first time I see a city in a park,” is how Charles de Gaulle is rumored to have reacted when he first arrived in Kyiv. Lennox Lewis also expressed his delight at the Ukrainian capital: “This amazing city“In it, trees grow higher than houses!” Many celebrities note how beautiful the parks of Kyiv are.

Since then, unfortunately, a lot has changed for the worse. In place of many green parks in Kyiv, due to the fault of greedy developers, faceless high-rise buildings and shopping centers have grown.

But in the city of Kiya there are still beautiful green places where you can relax from the “aroma” and noise of the big city.

Today we will tell you about the best parks and forests in Kyiv.

Pushcha-Voditsa

One of the oldest forest areas. Back in the 11th century, the sounds of horns and barking dogs were heard here. It was the local princes and their warriors who went hunting.

The name of the forest and the village is derived from the “dense forest” - “Pushcha”, and the name of the no longer existing river Voditsa.

At the end of the 19th century, after distant resorts became fashionable, suburban holiday, a holiday village was organized here. And in 1904, the first tram was launched.

Today there are more than 40 sanatoriums and rest houses located here.

After all, the magical air here, filled with ozone and pine aromas, is not inferior in its healing effects to the best resorts Crimea.

Koncha-Zaspa

Forest area on the opposite side of the City from the Pushcha.

There are two legends about the origin of the name. The first tells about the Slavic heroes, who, on the eve of the enemy’s appearance, woke up their brothers-in-arms with the cry “stop sleeping!” The second one points to the fortified rampart “End of the Backfill”, erected during the war with the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

There are a lot of lakes, including Koncha and Zaspa (another version of the name), streams, water meadows, relatively close to the Dnieper. The richest places. But there is a nuance.

After the capital of the Ukrainian SSR was transferred from Kharkov to Kyiv in 1934, Koncha-Zaspa was chosen by those in power. Government dachas crawled out of the ground like mushrooms after the rain. Many kilometers of fences along the highway have become not a rarity, but, on the contrary, the rule.

After the collapse of the Union, new “masters of life” followed the example of the nomenklatura. Nowadays Koncha-Zaspa is one of the most expensive areas of the capital and its outskirts.

But we are not interested in these places for the palaces of the modern “elite”.

Dnieper bays, pine and oak forests, clear lakes, flowering meadows - these are the advantages of Koncha-Zaspa. And although “thanks to” extensive development, you will no longer see that “early” beauty, these forests and meadows still remain one of the most charming in the country.

Trukhanov Island

450 hectares of forest and clean air, named after the Polovtsian Tugorkhan, the father of the wife of Prince Svyatopolk Izyaslavich, who built a residence on the island for his wife (apparently, he loved him very much).

In the 19th century, it began to be actively used by the people of Kiev for countryside holiday. Families traveled here by boat (there was no bridge yet) for the whole day.

Soon a steam mill and ship repair shops were built here. At the same time, overcoming the terrible resistance of the city authorities, they built a settlement for workers, which existed right up until 1943, when it was burned by the Germans.

In 1918, the ancestors of the Krauts, who destroyed the village in 1943, organized the first open public beach.

The idea caught on. And how!

And after 1957, when it was erected, Trukhanov completely turned into the favorite vacation spot of the townspeople.

It remains that way to this day.

Long beaches (including Central), a lake, tributaries of the Dnieper and the Desenka River. Lots of trees, cozy meadows and secluded clearings. Paradise for lovers active rest, and for fans of lazy tanning.

Peoples' Friendship Park

It was created in the early 70s of the 20th century, in the Chertory tract. The main part is divided into zones, including a memorial zone, with 15 types of plants, as a sign of friendship between the republics of the USSR (oh, that was the time!), beach, children's and sports.

Hydropark

This area on two islands, located next to Trukhanov, largely repeated the fate of its neighbor.

In the 19th century, the future Hydropark became home to workers at a factory for the manufacture and repair of artillery pieces (later Arsenal). They settled in Predmostnaya Slobodka, named after its location in front of the Nikolaevsky Chain Bridge. Burned in 1943.

Hydropark acquired its modern appearance in 1965–1968, being inaugurated on the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution.

365 hectares filled with forest, attractions, sports grounds, and an insane number of cafes.

It is also known for its gym town, built by fans of the sports lifestyle for their money, a lot of beaches (including children's), and a large number of vacationers. However, this is not a problem for any Hydropark.

Goloseevsky Park named after. M. Rylsky

In 1957, in the northern part of the Goloseevsky forest, which was badly damaged during the wars and revolution, but still vast, a beautiful forest was organized. The emeralds, which in 1960 brought it the title of “monument of landscape gardening art of republican significance,” were a cascade of four ponds and a successful alternation of regular-style areas planted with Cossack juniper, thuja, willow and spruce, with natural (landscape) areas - oak, birch, maple.

In 1964, the park was named after the poet Maxim Rylsky, who died that year, and lived on the outskirts of the park.

Nowadays there is a boat station, a lot of walking and cycling paths, children’s and sports grounds, attractions and cafes.

And most importantly, two steps away is the green bulk of the Goloseevsky forest, adjacent on the other side to, and a little further almost reaching the Dnieper.

Lost in the forest are two monasteries, the font of the Spaso-Preobrazhenskaya Hermitage, and the National Complex “Expocenter of Ukraine”.

And also hidden places in the depths where a person rarely sets foot.

Park of Partisan Glory

A piece of Nikolsky forest, allocated in 1965 for the development of a regional park of culture and recreation. Five years later, it, named after the partisans who fought in World War II, was already receiving visitors. There are six zones here, the central one of which is the memorial - with a museum, partisan dugouts and other attributes of the life of the people's avengers.

Another highlight is a track for running and cycling. A rope park simply created for active recreation with the whole family. As many as 700 meters of rope trails for all ages. And, of course, more than 100 hectares of greenery, dozens of meadows, fountains and a couple of lakes.

Trees help people and we have a responsibility to take care of them. Curb the appetites of those who, thinking only about short-term gain, strive to destroy yet another public garden. Plant new seedlings and do not spoil those that are already growing.

Otherwise, only a memory will remain of life on earth.

HOW TO GET THERE: Art. metro station "Kyiv"

ADDRESS: Moscow, From the station across the crystal bridge.

This capital park is located right next to the Kyiv metro station. You go out through any exit, and you have a magnificent view of the European Fountain, which is located on the Square of Europe. We head towards it and climb onto the translucent bridge. By the way, it is called “crystal” and is unusual in itself.

After the bridge you need to turn left, go down a narrow, inconspicuous path and continue along it. On the way there are a large number of benches facing the Moscow River. You need to spend some time in this place and feel its atmosphere.

Your journey began at the ring metro station, among the bustle and noise of people, where people were simply visible and invisible, next to the market with its usual confusion. And now, after this - suddenly a “paradise”.

Relax on the benches; they are located quite high, which allows you to admire the wonderful view: barges floating along the river, skyscrapers of Moscow City.

Have you rested? You can go back. It is better to return just through the “crystal” bridge. It has a balcony. If you are not afraid of heights, be sure to stand on the edge.

At night, the bridge glows from the inside, which will add positive emotions to you. After the bridge, do not go straight to the metro, take a walk near the fountain. Go to the grocery store located nearby and buy something to eat, then you won’t have to buy expensive things at the station. The park near the Kyiv metro station itself is cozy, but not particularly quiet - the station, after all.

In the evening, romantic couples like to gather here. And don’t be “greedy”; be sure to tell your friends and family about this place. Joy simply needs to be shared.

To actively relax and have fun with friends, visit Gorky Park or the Stunt Base - it’s just a short walk from Kievskaya. And just one metro station away is the Moscow Zoo - a good option for where to go to the bench. Well, after that you can leisurely walk to Old Arbat.

In Moscow, near the Kievskaya metro station, there is a park overlooking the European Fountain, located on Europe Square. The park opens up before your eyes from any exit from the station. You can see the park with different eyes from the river, which will allow you to create a wonderful yacht-restaurant in Moscow for city guests and Muscovites. Walking through the park, everyone will want to climb the Crystal Bridge - an unusual translucent structure.
If you turn left after the bridge, you will notice a barely noticeable narrow path.
Having walked along it, many benches will appear along the way, facing the Moscow River. You definitely need to spend some time here to feel the atmosphere of this place.
Literally just now we were crowded at the station, among people, noise and bustle, where there was nowhere for an apple to fall, and next to it was a market with the usual bustle and scurrying back and forth of people. After all this, suddenly - comfort and tranquility, right in the middle of the metropolis.

The benches are placed high enough to be able to admire the view of the river surface, passing barges and the tall skyscrapers of Moscow City. When returning back, it is better to go the same way, through the Crystal Bridge, which, by the way, has a balcony. You should definitely stand on the edge of the balcony and take in the landscape.
With the onset of darkness, the bridge lights up from the inside with lights, which only embellishes ecological tourism in Moscow.
After the bridge, you can first take a walk near the fountain, go to a store not far from here and buy something to eat, because the same products are more expensive at the station. Now you can head to the metro station. Meanwhile, the park near the Kyiv metro station will begin to be filled with couples in love and tired Muscovites wanting to take a walk after work.

The Moscow metro opened on May 15, 1935 with the Sokolniki - Park Kultury line and over the two decades of Stalin's years it grew with new stations, the rich interiors of which resemble an art gallery. 44 metropolitan metro stations are recognized as objects cultural heritage. Since 1955, in connection with the resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR “On the elimination of excesses in design and construction,” Metrostroy abandoned expensive decor in favor of standard projects. The walk along the old metro began in Sokolniki, continued with winding squiggles along the Sokolnicheskaya, Koltsevaya, Zamoskvoretskaya, Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya lines and ends today at the Kievskaya Circle and Park Kultury stations.

The Kievskaya Circle station was opened on March 14, 1954 as part of the Belorusskaya - Park Kultury section and closed the Circle line that was under construction.

In 1953, Nikita Sergeevich Khrushchev took over the post of First Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee, and among his first acts was the perpetuation of the great fate of the people of Ukraine in the Moscow metro. At that time, neither of the two existing Kievskys satisfied him. Based on the results of the announced competition, 40 projects were presented, which were won by the people of Kiev.

Architects E.I.Katonin, V.K.Skugarev, G.E.Golubev worked on the station project, the interiors were designed by artists - A.V.Myzin, G.I.Opryshko, A.G.Ivanov.

Park Kultury station (circular) opened on January 1, 1950. Architect I.E. Rozhin. In the first years of its existence, the station was often designated on maps under the name “Gorky Park of Culture.” To get into favorite place recreation of Muscovites in the 1930-1950s, townspeople had to go to the opposite bank of the Moscow River along the long Crimean Bridge. Ideas arose from time to time to rename the station “Krymskaya” or “ Crimean Bridge".

The pylons of the station hall are decorated with 26 white marble bas-reliefs by S.M. Rabinovich, depicting the recreation of Soviet youth.

Many of us love to walk in parks, breathing fresh air and enjoying beautiful natural areas and panoramas of the city. Therefore, for Kiev residents and guests of the city, I decided to compile list of Kyiv parks, suitable for such walks. The list will be in the form of a rating compiled according to my preferences. And we'll start with the park that I like best...

Address: st. Trekhsvyatitelskaya

A beautiful hilly park with beautiful panoramas of the Dnieper, the left bank, Podol and Obolon. It houses the famous Kiev monument to Vladimir.

Nearby are:

  • Funicular
  • Andrew's Descent
  • St. Michael's Cathedral
  • European Square

Address: crossroads st. Vladimirskaya and blvd. Shevchenko.

A rectangular park in the very center of the city. Cozy, clean and a nice place for walks. Nearby is the red building of the Kyiv National University. Taras Shevchenko. In the park itself there is a monument to Shevchenko, as well as a curious monument with a boy and the black sea. An excellent and very popular playground has been built for children.

Address: European Square

Parks smoothly flow into one another and offer magnificent panoramas of the left bank of the Dnieper. They are considered the most romantic parks in Kyiv. In them you can find:

  • Lover's Bridge
  • Mariinsky Palace
  • Puppet show
  • Stadium named after Lobanovsky
  • The Verkhovna Rada
  • Arch of Peoples' Friendship

4. VDNH

Address: Academician Glushkov Ave., 1

The most excellent park area of the Expocenter of Ukraine (formerly VDNKh). You are guaranteed a walk through a large area among pavilions built in the “Stalinist” style. One of my favorite places!

The peculiarity of this park is that it goes into the Goloseevsky forest. The park has a small karting center, a lake and a children's playground.

Address: st. January Uprising, descent behind the Lavra (if you go from Arsenalnaya metro station)

A place where a wonderful flower exhibition is held every year on Independence Day. This park is located on the slopes of the right bank. You will walk up and down along it. Nearby are the Kiev Pechersk Lavra and the complex National Museum Great Patriotic War.

7. Nivki

Address: Pobeda Ave., 82

Nice, solid park with lakes. Located between metro station Nyvki and metro station Beresteyskaya.

Address: metro station Arsenalnaya

A picturesque place covered in mysterious legends about the murder of Askold and Dir.

Stretches from the Paton Bridge to the metro station. Dnieper along the embankment. A good place for walks, providing views of the left bank, as well as proximity to the Dnieper. The park contains the famous Kiev monument “Kiy, Shchek, Khoriv and Lybid”, which had to be reconstructed after a fault this winter.

Address: Dneprovsky descent

Military theme park. On its territory there is a 26-meter obelisk - the Monument of Eternal Glory. A wide alley with 34 graves of soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War leads to it. From here you can enjoy picturesque views of the left bank of Kyiv and the Dnieper islands.

Address: st. Heroes of Sevastopol

Park on Borshchagovka, which was reconstructed and embellished 2 years ago. In it you can find a stone with an inscription stating that it is from here that one of the sources of the Lybid River originates. The park also has a lake and a playground. The Museum of National Architecture and Life is located nearby.

Address: metro station Polytechnical Institute

The favorite student park in Kyiv. It is notable for the fact that it is quite easy to find and feed squirrels there. It is located opposite the zoo.

Address: Pobeda Ave., 40

Another student park. The fact is that the National Medical University is located nearby. Bogomolets. At the entrance to the park there is a monument to A.S. Pushkin.

Address: metro station Dorogozhichi

Enough big park with a children's playground, which pleases residents of the Syrets microdistrict. I once lived on Syrtsa and visited this park several times.

Address: metro station Hydropark

The most controversial park in Kyiv. On the one side - beautiful views on the right bank of the city, a large forested area, beaches. On the other hand, there are a bunch of disgusting eateries, with alcoholics and homeless people all around. This park clearly needs revolutionary changes.

Other parks in Kyiv

I didn’t have the strength to describe all the parks. So I’m adding the rest to this post in the form of a list:

  • Syretsky Gai (Stetsenko St.)
  • Kyoto (Kyoto street)
  • Kurenevsky Park (Frunze St.)

I hope that this post will help you somehow navigate the diversity of Kyiv park areas. Walk outdoors more often!
