We returned from the island. We vacationed in Santa Ponsa. We traveled more than 2000 km across the island by car.

Either we were captivated by high expectations, or after previous Mediterranean trips, but the trip was a great disappointment. There are a lot of people, there is a lot of dirt on the beaches... Somehow, everything was not impressive at all. Of course, the beaches are normal, but in other beach Europe they were more than enough for us.

In short, to put it very briefly, that’s it for now. Later, at home, I’ll try to write a normal review.

advantages: safe, excellent climate, beautiful nature, good transport infrastructure, clean sea, gorgeous sea

Flaws: arrogant waiters, European pensioners, bored

"Island of German pensioners"

We flew to Mallorca Honeymoon last year, therefore, I don’t remember the names of many attractions, I’ll write about what I won’t forget :) I won’t offend the island too much, because in general I love Spain very much, after, on the same trip, we went to Barcelona, where Well, I really liked it!

What I liked: Beautiful, clean sea, well-kept beaches, good roads, the village of Valldemossa and a safari park with animals in the north of the island, there is also interesting architecture in the capital Palma de Mallorca.

What I didn’t like: The island is crowded mainly with European pensioners (we flew in September, maybe it’s their season of course), you especially notice this when you go to sit a little in a bar in the evening, and there are only gray heads and quite a lot of gays around, which is not for a Russian person usual, but absolutely parallel to them, just not usual! There are separate nudist beaches, but for some reason, the 70-year-old old man didn’t really care about sunbathing naked on a regular beach, like 20 others)) There are very few young people, so if anyone wants to look at naked boys or girls, then I’ll be disappointed, naked there are only pensioners there, and when you decide to go in the morning to drink coffee on the beach and have breakfast, your appetite from what you see spoils a little))) Regarding the views and attractions: There are practically no views there, I have something to compare with, with the same Montenegro, where beauty at every step, I'll leave a review later. In a week we drove through the entire island, of course there were wonderful views, but there are catastrophically few of them; when you drive along the roads, you don’t see any nature and almost all the roads do not go along the coast. Shops close very early, we rented apartments so we could cook mostly ourselves, because local restaurants very expensive and the menu of pasta, pizza and paella did not inspire us to eat 3 times a day! I didn’t really like the attitude of the waiters, they’re kind of arrogant or something, if you order their signature paella, then everything is fine, but if not, then the attitude immediately became so-so, but I won’t speak for everyone, for example, the owner of the room was very hospitable. The vacation seemed boring to us, although we always try to notice the good sides, but there really isn’t much to see here, maybe it’s just not my island.

If you just want beach holiday, then I still won’t advise you to go to Mallorca, well, only if you are over 60) I can recommend Cyprus, the sea there is fabulous, the food is varied and there are a lot of young people!

I will never set foot in Mallorca again. An island, it is an island. Desert! Boring!!! Author, if you still decide to go there, take a hotel closer to the city. To have somewhere to go for a walk in the evening. There are plenty of beaches. But they are small for me, and I love space. That's why I don't want to go to the islands anymore. In hotels with 3 and 3+ stars, the rooms are very poorly cleaned. You shouldn't take less than 4 stars. One of the best places in Mallorca is Alcudia.

I was in Mallorca - and it was my worst vacation. The beach is complete G, the hotel is G, the food is G. Of course, the last two points are our own fault (my friends and I went, we wanted to stay on a budget)... but in general, somehow the holiday there was not a success.. I didn’t like it... I don’t know, I wouldn’t recommend going there with children at all.

We were on holiday in El Arenal, the sea is dirty and shallow, the beach seems to be completely made up and there are a lot of people... I liked it (well, compared to the public one) wild beach, the sea is clean, the views are beautiful, but the bottom is rocky and deep right next to the shore, i.e. it’s difficult and inconvenient to get into the water and then get out again

pros:

Minuses:

a lot of people Holidays in Mallorca did not live up to expectations.

My husband and I rested in this hotel at the end of July, beginning of August 2017, 12 days. Let me immediately point out that we have been to Spain many times (Barcelona, Tenerife, Malaga, Madrid, Salou, Gerona, Terragona, etc.), and have also vacationed in other countries in Europe, Asia, America, that is, we really have something to compare with, The review is not unfounded.

About the place... it's complete trash. There are a lot of people on the beaches - there is nowhere for an apple to fall, the water on the nearest beaches is dirty, it smells of sulfur. Sellers are scurrying around and loudly offering their goods (a la our Krasnodar region). You have to constantly keep an eye on things from the sea; you can’t take your phone and money to the beach. Everything is packed together, hotel on hotel like small boxes. There are a lot of drunken European youth with all the ensuing consequences: screaming, noise, singing songs at night, rowdy behavior. The city where the hotel is located is dirty, it smells of urine everywhere, and dog walkers don’t clean up after their pets. I do not recommend going to this place with children. We went by bus to Palma - more good hotels located in Arenal closer to Palma. But they are naturally more expensive.

Our vacation was saved by renting a car, which we ordered from Russia...

In Mallorca, a car is much cheaper than excursions, and it is more convenient because you are left to your own devices.

We only had a problem with parking in Arenal, but we found parking on a dirt road not far from the hotel, and left the car there. It is very difficult to find a place on the city streets. I was unpleasantly surprised by the rudeness of drivers on the roads: they violate a lot, cut each other off, this is the first time we have seen this in Europe.

The peculiarity of local people is that they want to cheat you everywhere: in shops, restaurants, so always clarify unclear details. If you purchase an item at a discount, check that you received this discount on your receipt. If you eat at a restaurant on a separate menu (such as a business lunch or a set lunch), check that they will provide you with a receipt other than from the main menu.

Conclusion - Mallorca is not worth the money, Tenerife is much more beautiful, and you can visit it cheaper. But if you still want to go to Mallorca, then choose hotels from 4 stars and above, preferably in the Alcudia area. We regretted the chosen place; for this money we could have vacationed in other countries or on the Spanish mainland much more comfortably.

Neutral reviews

Mallorca is a great holiday destination, but in order not to spoil the impression, you don’t need to relax in El Arenal, the beach is dirty, the sea is shallow, there are no beauties.... Be especially wary of the “hotel” that is offered to tourists from the CIS “Juan Palma”, in fact it is the most ugly hostel...

I can say one thing - this time I came not as delighted, of course, as the last, but, nevertheless, there are wonderful places there. And not only great places for swimming, but also simply for the soul. On this moment, for us it is the best place for a holiday with a small child. I have not heard of any resort in Europe, for example, that has SO many good, relatively clean, sandy beaches, given the small area of the island. You just need to know the places :)

And I have big complaints about beaches, for example. Because of this, at one time I canceled Greece, Croatia, Italy, France and decided in favor of Mallorca, which I don’t regret at all. Another thing is that the densely populated beaches are increasing every year, and this is not encouraging, of course.

But that’s why it exists - it’s not high season))) I’m scared to imagine where I will go when my child goes to school.

Advantages: excellent climate

Flaws: there are thieves, nothing interesting

Good afternoon to everyone who is planning a trip to Mallorca! I’ll start right away with the fact that my review probably won’t suit those who haven’t been anywhere in particular. I've been to 13 countries, so I look at everything with my calm eyes. I can’t say that I’ll just be delighted beautiful view to a beautiful bay with boats))).

Now about the main thing. Trip 08/18/2017 - 08/29/2017. The trip was planned in such a way as to see the whole island, we booked rooms and hotels in 4 different ends of the island: Sa Pobla, Cala Ratjada, Campos, Palma de Mallorca. Each day was planned, of course, according to the route. I studied all the attractions of the island and made a detailed plan so that I had time to see everything. The trip was planned on a budget; we spent a total of 49,000 rubles for tickets and accommodation for two. On tour. the company was not contacted. Rest 10 days. We cooked ourselves, went to a restaurant three times, and spent an additional 50,000 rubles on the island itself, including renting a car for the entire period, gasoline and food.

By attractions:

All museums are past. We weren't interested.

In general, the entire left side of the island is not interesting (if you look at the map).

The bays and ports are all the same, nothing interesting.

Cape Formentor + lighthouse - super!!! A must visit.

The beaches are almost all unorganized. We really liked the largest beach, Alcudia. It's nice and organized there.

Castles and monasteries are not interesting at all. Some ruins. Nothing to do there

Art's Cave or Dragon's Cave - loved it!!! Choose one to visit, they are the same. We were in the Dragon's Cave.

Manacor - pearl factory. We're not interested at all...

Zoo - we arrived, but didn’t go. Expensive and scarce. But.. we have good zoos in Moscow and St. Petersburg... If you don’t, then maybe it will be interesting....

Palma de Mallorca - very interesting! A must visit!!!)))

There were almost everywhere, small towns, nothing special. If we were planning a route now, we wouldn’t waste time on the left side of the island. We would start our vacation from Formentor and drive down the right coast to the capital of the island.

Attention! We were robbed. During the next move from place to place, they opened the car and cleaned it. There is also a lot of theft on the beaches. Be careful. There are no cameras anywhere. Be sure to print out all the necessary information on paper, make copies of passports and tickets in case of theft. Any phone gets stolen)

Sim cards are not sold everywhere. Only in special Orange stores or in small shops with stickers on the doors, whatever they have mobile connection and the Internet. It's only in major cities. Not in small ones. Don't look.

The Spaniards speak almost no English, keep that in mind.

On buses they do not give change for bills over 10 euros. You'll have to get off the bus. Transport runs until late.

There are no problems in the capital. Palma has everything, almost everyone speaks English)))

Advantages:

Good climate, eucalyptus groves, calm area.

Flaws:

shallow beaches, cool weather in summer.

We were on holiday in Mallorca with a friend in the summer. I honestly admit that at first I was attracted by the name of the island, and of course, by its European-Mediterranean location. We didn’t have a lot of money, I’ll say right away, but we really wanted to spend unforgettable vacation, which was very successful. We chose a three-star hotel with two meals a day, and hit the road) 4 and a half hours and we were there. The first days, we didn’t plan anything and lived mainly on the beach, but soon we got tired of it, since the beaches there were somehow too shallow and blown through by a chilly breeze (and this was in the midst of July). Therefore, we scraped together money for sightseeing tour, and had a lot of fun. It lasted almost the entire day. We were taken along the "Tie's Knot" road - This is a rather impressive serpentine road, so that it really took our breath away a couple of times, we visited a monastery, then swam in the bay and then by sea on a comfortable boat we were taken to the port of Soller. It must be said that we chose the cheapest and only excursion of the entire vacation, but the memories of it will be much brighter than a simple swim in the sea. I won’t recommend Mallorca to those who like to relax on the beach; it’s not very convenient to splash knee-deep a kilometer from the shore.

Positive reviews

You have to go to the north of Mallorca, there are fewer people there. I was pleased with the prices in supermarkets, they are close to ours, some types of products are even cheaper, the availability of seafood affordable prices, and of course, gorgeous beaches with warm water) what else do you need? We’re going there again this year, but it won’t be cheap anymore(

Mallorca is a place that will suit absolutely everyone for a holiday - both young people who come here from all over Europe to “hang out” in nightclubs and numerous discos, and couples with children who will find here all the conditions for a great holiday. We fall into the second category and, despite the fact that we stayed in Magaluf - that center of exuberant fun that young Englishmen love so much, we had a wonderful holiday there. Only helpful advice To everyone who comes here, stay somewhere on the outskirts, it’s better to walk to the nightclub areas. We did just that, and we really liked it in Magaluf, where we were not disturbed by discos, and the conditions for relaxation - the gentle sea of the Balearic Islands, the hot sun (be sure to take creams!), an excellent well-maintained beach - all this was present and left unforgettable impression. In Magaluf itself, it’s worth visiting the Kathmandu Upside Down House, which has many optical attractions, and which children love, as well as the Pirates show with a simply excellent program and first-class world-class acrobats (it’s a little expensive, but worth it!).

and, of course, you shouldn’t focus only on Magaluf and great holiday in it, and the best thing is to travel around this pearl of the Balearic archipelago - the island of Mallorca. We did just that, and we were in medieval city Alcudia with the majestic church of Saint Jaume and its ruins old fortress(what kind of natural Park Albufera with hundreds of birds - just super!), and in natural park Galatzo, and national reserve Cabrera. The nature of Mallorca deserves only excellent reviews! But what makes a special impression on this island is its capital - the magnificent Palma de Mallorca with its fantastic, simply ancient Catholic Cathedral. This is the only cathedral in the world that faces the sea, and it is especially beautiful when you approach Palma. Our excursion included a trip on a yacht, so we were able to fully enjoy the view of the cathedral, which is stunningly beautiful from everywhere.

The inside of the cathedral is also very beautiful, and Gaudi designed the benches for it; we sat on them with great comfort and admired the interior decoration. And then we sat on a horse next to the cathedral and rode in a carriage along the old Palma, it’s just wonderful! The Picasso Museum in Palma is also worth visiting, as is the city's port. What kind of yachts are moored there! Just a peek!

Of course, February is not the most suitable month for a holiday in Mallorca. However, when in hometown frost, cold radiators in the apartment, and the tour operator offers a full package of services, including flights, transfers, accommodation in a four-star all-inclusive hotel for, in fact, a nominal fee, it was simply impossible to refuse the trip.

We are very glad that we decided to take this opportunity and visit the pearl of the Balearic Islands - the island of Mallorca. Our hotel was located in the small town of Canpicafort, located on the coast Mediterranean Sea. Every day we walked along its beautiful embankment, admiring the landscape and breathing in the amazingly clean air filled with the aromas of the sea.

In the hotel pool we could swim daily, which replaced swimming in the sea. However, there were also people who fearlessly swam in a sea that could not be called warm. The water temperature was 12-14 degrees, i.e. - for especially hardened and trained people.

The undoubted advantage of our trip to the Balearics in the middle of winter was the opportunity to carry out as many excursions as possible. To do this, we rented a car and one day went to the town of Valldemosa, lost in the mountainous part of the island and gained worldwide fame thanks to the stay of the writer George Sand and composer Frederic Chopin in one of its castles. We needed several days to explore museums and attractions in Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands.

All our fears that it will be boring and uninteresting seaside resort winter, turned out to be unfounded. We had a great time and gained much needed strength and energy.

I was on holiday in Mallorca in September 2017. Considering that, in principle, we love and often visit Spain, I was delighted with the island. If you compare it with mainland, it is cleaner, quieter and calmer here. Stunning nature, many farms, respectively, have their own plantations of olives, figs, almonds, and grapes. Such a quiet, rich countryside, but at the same time it has its own best medical clinics and universities, a museum of modern art, where the works of Salvador Dali and Picasso are kept.

I was pleasantly surprised by the climate of the island, there is no strong humidity, a constant light breeze, we were there in September, of course, but I think it’s quite comfortable to be here in the summer. There are a lot of attractions in tiny Mallorca, so in order to have time to see everything, I recommend renting a car; by the way, it’s not expensive, a day’s car rental starts at 38 euros per day plus gasoline (20 euros was enough for a day of driving)

From the excursion program you must visit: the capital Palma with a tour of the Cathedral, Cape Formentor, which you often see on the Internet in photos, but when you are on the observation deck the sensations are completely different)

Further north is the pearl of the island, romantic and beautiful town Valldemossa, which also attracts attention because the famous writer George Sand and Frederic Chopin spent their winter here. You will be taken through the rooms where the couple lived, where their personal belongings are kept, and invited to a concert to listen to Chopin’s works.

And of course, the gorgeous beaches of Mallorca with pink and white sand! From the ones I saw, I recommend the beaches of Magaluf, Cape Formentor, Santa Ponsa, Mondrago.

In general, in a nutshell, Mallorca is mountains, steps, nature, history, friendly people, delicious food, stunning beaches and the sea....

Mallorca is a stunning island. Having been here once, you definitely want to come back! Not a single photograph will convey to you the beauty that you see with your own eyes.

Mallorca is small, but very different, it is not only the sea and the beach, although the sea here is undoubtedly magnificent. These are mountains, bays, small towns and villages. Here at every step you encounter landscapes that are impossible to tear yourself away from.

You should definitely rent a car and drive around the island, there are a lot of attractions here.

Santa Ponsa. We were in Mallorca at the end of May - beginning of June. I’ll say right away that we were almost the first charter to fly there. There were very few Russians (only the first plane), then compatriots began to appear. The water was cool (not yet warmed up), but you could run in and out. We were in the Santa Ponsa region. Entering the sea sand - beach sand. No stones. There are green parrots all around. And..... Irish quarter with 100 kg for the young ladies. My husband constantly asked - let's go to the Irish one in the evening, let's look at the girls. The British were family people, not violent, quiet. No crazy parties. We went on excursions to Chopin's places and to Solera on an ancient train. We took regular buses to Palma de Mallorca. It saved us that it was not yet as hot as in summer and we could wander everywhere for a long time. We flew back on a half-empty plane, as people had just arrived there and no one was planning to return yet.

Our family Mallorca

I first read about Mallorca from a girl blogger. She talked on her Instagram page about her travels and how she plans to fly to Mallorca one of these days. To say that I was interested is to say nothing. I was fired up with thoughts about beautiful Mallorca and firmly decided that we would fly with the children in September! We packed our suitcases, took swimsuits, warm clothes (I had read that the weather can be quite capricious and therefore decided to prepare to the fullest) and a good mood, of course.

And you know what makes you fall in love at first sight and never lets you go? This is magnificent architecture. Friends, this is such a charming atmosphere that I don’t have enough words or emotions to describe it all - you can feel such power, history in every street and in every cathedral.

I’ve heard about shopping in Mallorca, many friends brought quality items, but I can’t say anything specific about this. I really wanted to buy something too, but the children wanted to swim more :) Friends, I don’t regret our quiet, family vacation in Mallorca at all, it’s some kind of magic - we’ll definitely come back here! At least for shopping ;)

Advantages:

Inexpensive holiday, paradise, good transport links and infrastructure

Flaws:

Not found. The holiday was wonderful

Mallorca is a wonderful island with its own culture, tradition, Arab influence, Spanish influence, Italian influence and many other nationalities.

Firstly, there are excellent transport links, I got to the center of the island and to the outskirts without problems, I ended up in remote villages where goats are raised and goat cheese and milk are made.

Secondly, developed infrastructure, a huge number of shops, gyms, etc.

Thirdly, very, very friendly people, always ready to invite you to visit, tell you something about the island, tell you how and where to get there. And also, 90% of the population speaks English well even in non-tourist places, which is not very typical for Spain as a whole.

Prepare your sleigh in the summer and plan your vacation in the winter. This is what all practical travelers do. And I will help you navigate the resorts. Which one is right for you and your family.

I'll start my review with the bright, sunny Spanish island of Mallorca. This is one of my favorite islands. It is ideal for a beach holiday. The season in Mallorca lasts from the end of May to the end of September. The hottest months are July and August.
So, let's choose a resort for ourselves.

Can Pastilla(Can Pastilla) is a quiet, cozy place with wide beaches and a gentle approach to the sea. There is a promenade for walking and jogging. From Can Pastilla you can reach almost anywhere on the island by public transport. Which is extremely convenient for those who do not plan to rent a car. Also a big plus is the proximity of the island's capital - Palma de Mallorca. And I would like to especially highlight that the airport is a 5-minute taxi ride away. If you suddenly arrive at night and don’t want a long transfer, you can spend the night in Can Pastilla and move on the next day. Accommodation in Can Pastilla is very reasonably priced. Among the attractions - in Can Pastilla is the Palma Aquarium.

Cala Major(Cala Major) is the resort closest to the capital. It is located on a rocky area and therefore the beach is located in a small bay. Cozy place, but can get crowded with locals on weekends. Many hotels are located in close proximity to the beach. The resort is more suitable for adults. Restaurants, discos, shopping centers are in the immediate vicinity.

Arenal(Arenal) - the habitat of noisy German youth. Enough

convenient transport links. The beaches of Arenal are wide and have a gentle slope into the sea. The cost of living in Arenal hotels is the lowest on the island.

Illetes(Illetes) - respectable and picturesque resort luxury class. There is a golf club. The beaches are represented by bays, sand, but in some places the entrance is rocky.

Magaluf- the habitat of even more noisy English youth. If you are located on the outskirts of Magaluf, it is no longer so noisy. The resort has a developed infrastructure, beaches in the form of bays with sand, children's park entertainment Kathmandu with an upside down house, I also recommend the stylish beach club Nikki Beach Mallorca.

Palma Nova(Palma Nova) - located next to Magaluf (15-20 minutes walk), but for a more relaxing holiday. The beaches are beautiful, the sand is fine, there is a promenade. Prices here are higher than in Magaluf.

Santa Ponsa(Santa Ponsa) - the habitat of green budgies :) Seriously, a nice cozy place for family vacation. A wonderful pine grove grows along the sea, in which those same parrots live. The beaches are small, bays, the entry into the water is gentle.

We can choose not only the ideal tour for you, but also

Paguera(Paguera) - even more quiet resort than Santa Ponsa. The beaches are represented by bays and sand. Suitable for lovers of a quiet, relaxing holiday, as well as families with children. Not far from Paguera there is most picturesque place Cala Fornells with wonderful small coves and clear waters.

In the northwest of Mallorca Mountain chain - Sierra de Tramontana. The climate there is a little more humid. And the beaches are sand and pebbles. There are also few hotels; mostly villas are rented. A holiday for the romantics, or you can do as we did and stay a couple of nights to explore the local attractions (Valdemosa, Soller, Tie Knot and Sa Cobra, Cape Formentor).

(Alcudia) - popular family resort the island of Mallorca with the most ideal beach for children. A magnificent long fine sandy beach, along which sprawling pine trees grow. Good infrastructure, historical and natural attractions - what else do you need for a memorable family vacation?

A continuation of Alcudia are resorts such as Polensa (if you move towards Cape Formentor) and in the opposite direction - Playa de Muro, Can Picafort. The infrastructure is of course more modest, but if you have a car you will be comfortable everywhere.

East of Mallorca indented by bays with fine white sand, which are hidden from the wind behind spreading pine trees and coastal rocks. The east is best for lovers of romance. If you are traveling with children, then look for a larger town so that there is at least some kind of infrastructure. For example, Porto Cristo (+Dragon Caves), Cala Dor (+funny trains roll around the city), Cala Millor (+there is a long promenade with restaurants). The concentration of hotels in the east is relatively small, but there is an excellent selection of villas for different budgets.

In general, the island has many beaches for every taste and shade of blue. All beaches are state-owned, free, very picturesque and different from each other. Therefore, my advice to you: travel around the island, study, observe. I think there will be no problems with this, because... public transport is developed, or you can rent a car (you can read how to do this).

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer.

Mallorca, or Mallorca, is a Spanish island belonging to the Balearic Islands, and is the largest of the entire archipelago. “The largest” (this is how the name of the island is translated from Spanish) is popular among tourists, the flow of which is constantly growing: 12 million tourists visit this resort annually. These are mainly Germans, English, French and Swiss.

The favorable and mild climate of Mallorca is not characterized by sweltering heat, but even in winter it is pleasant to spend time here. The tourist season starts in April and ends in October. The high season is in July and August - the flow of tourists is maximum. But perhaps the most favorable time for a holiday in Mallorca is the end of August - September. September is the best interesting times for diving for both beginners and diving experts. Many hotels and city beaches have schools and swimming equipment rentals. Experienced instructors will teach you how to dive and breathe underwater correctly. And the underwater world here is very diverse - exotic flora and fauna sometimes surprise even experienced divers.

Mallorca - amazing place, the nature of the island is rich and varied. Note that there are no rivers on the island, and fresh water is drawn from springs and reservoirs. Despite the limited availability of fresh water, the area seems to be strewn with nature reserves. There are a total of 40 nature reserves that have national status. Oak groves, pine forests along the mountain slopes, endless valleys and incredible beauty of the bays of the Mediterranean Sea and sandy beaches- this is the real value of Mallorca! To get to know the real Mallorca, you need to travel deep into the island. The mountainous terrain of the southern regions is indented with fertile groves of olives and almonds. Windmills, often found on the plateaus, give a special charm and image to the island. The northwestern part of Maoirca attracts attention with ancient villages and bays. And the very west is famous for the village of Valldemosa, where a medieval monastery is located.

The capital of the island - Palma de Mallorca - is alive, modern city with a labyrinth narrow streets, characteristic of the Spanish city. Palma is rightly proud of its historical buildings, including mansions and cathedrals located in the historical center.

Current time in Palma de Mallorca:
(UTC +2)

Language

The official languages of Mallorca are Catalan and Spanish. As a rule, the inhabitants of the island speak both Catalan and Spanish, with some speaking English or German as foreign languages, primarily due to the large number of tourists and foreigners living on the island.

How to get there

Today there are two ways to get to Mallorca - by air and by water.

Russia and the capital of the island, Palma, are connected only by charter flights various airlines. During the high tourist season, a direct flight is launched on the route Moscow - Palma. The flight time will be approximately 4.5 hours. But in the off-season you will have to fly with a transfer in Barcelona, Madrid or another European city.

Domestic flights are excellent. Planes depart from Barcelona to Palma every half hour. Flight time is 20-30 minutes. A ticket for local airlines will cost 50-70 euros one way (final prices depend on the season). In addition to Barcelona, planes fly from Madrid (flight time - 1 hour), Menorca and Ibiza.

All planes land at the main airport of Palma de Mallorca, Son Sant Joan, which is located eight kilometers from the city and has four terminals A, B, C and D. The first two are designed for domestic flights, and the latter are designed for international transport. .

Air support is well established with many European countries. The airport, being one of the busiest in terms of schedule density, sends flights to Germany, England and other countries. Son Sant Joan airport information service - +34-971-789-000.

Transport

Golf

Mallorca is ideal for playing golf. For lovers of this sport, fields of varying degrees of difficulty have been created and landscaped, as well as golf schools.

Mallorca has a total of 22 golf courses of varying terrain and difficulty, 19 of which have 18 holes.

Food and drink

Varied cuisine Mallorca includes the best traditions and tastes of Catalan, Moorish and, of course, Mediterranean dishes. Traditional Majoran dishes can be enjoyed in small restaurants specializing in Spanish cuisine. In most cases they are located away from tourist centers islands, but there are also restaurants with mixed cuisine, including national Spanish.

Mallorcan dishes include pork, vegetables (mostly stews), game and seafood. The Spaniards also love international cuisine, among which a special place on the tables of the Spaniards is occupied by the spicy pork and paprika sausage sobrassada (sobrassada), layered sweet ensaimada (ensaimada) and liqueurs with herbs and nuts.

For meat dishes, you should try the fried lamb el Frito Mallorquin, pork with cabbage Lomo con Col, baked pig Lechona al Horno, vegetable soup with meat and mushrooms Sopes Mallorquinas, paella (pilaf with seafood), and of course for gourmets los Caracoles (snails) . Mallorcans love to season their dishes with seasonings: spices, garlic, olive oil, etc.

At breakfast, instead of a croissant, try the typical Ensaimada (spiral-shaped buns) and for dessert the almond Gato cake with almond ice cream.

Among the alcohol, local wines Binissalem and Felanitx, liqueurs, sherry and beer stand out. Sangria is a local alcoholic drink, light and very tasty. It is found on the menu of almost all large and small restaurants.

Seafood is presented in all its variety. It is worth noting that the average bill for a seafood menu can be more than $50. One of the most expensive seafood dishes is lobster stew. The cost of the dish is from 100 dollars. The most common seafood dishes can be enjoyed in specialized restaurants: Dorada, Cap Roig (a fish unique to Mallorcan waters), gambas-shrimp, mussels and other shellfish.

You can grab a bite to eat and drink in popular tapas bars (places that offer a wide variety of snacks to pair with wine, sherry and beer). La Boveda on the side of Sa Llotja, Palma is a favorite destination for many tourists and residents of the Mallorcan capital.

The cost of mineral water starts from 1 euro. On store shelves you will find Evian and Major brands mineral water. Prices in hotels and restaurants rise twice or more.

The most common type of food at the hotel is half board. Some hotels only offer breakfast. The rest of the time you can eat in the resort's restaurants and cafes.

Establishments can offer menu del dia set meals, which include first and second courses, dessert and drinks. The cost of such a lunch starts from 8 euros per person.

But in the evening I want to sit in a restaurant. Traditions and features of local dishes can be learned in numerous establishments. On the windows of almost all restaurants there is the most necessary information for choosing - the star status in the form of a fork, the cost and menu of a set lunch, as well as the type of menu (European, national, etc.). One of best restaurants in Mallorca, according to culinary experts, are located in the provinces of Sóller, Port Andrax and Pollença. In 2005 there were more than 2,400 restaurants in Mallorca.

restaurant of European and Mediterranean cuisine “Es Raco d’es Teix” in Deia (Sa Vinya Vella 6, Deia, Majorca);

family restaurant of European cuisine “Mocubar” in Palma Nova (Paseo del Mar 12, 07181, Palma Nova, Majorca);

seafood restaurant with European, Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine “Sa Punta” in Son Servera (Cala Bona-costa de los Pinos, KM 1. Port Verd, 07559 Son Servera, Majorca);

Spanish restaurant "Bar Nou" in Pollenca (C/ Antoni Maura, 07400 Pollenca, Majorca).

Safety

Mallorca is lively resort island with a fairly calm environment. There are many entertainment clubs and bars, so even at night life is in full swing here. The locals are friendly and will always offer advice and help.

Be vigilant in busy areas of resorts and cities. You should not carry a large amount of money in cash; there are many ATMs in Palma and other more or less large cities. Besides, bank cards, including Visa, are accepted almost everywhere (except for small shops and cafes).

Tap water should not be used for drinking. Most often this is desalinated sea water, so to be safe, it is better to buy bottled water from local stores. The cost of a liter bottle of water is 1 euro.

Many of Mallorca's beaches are recognized as environmentally friendly. The tourist beach area is under strict environmental control government organizations, and the quality of sea water is checked every week.

Emergency numbers

, this may be convenient for some categories of tourists - families with several children who prefer to cook for themselves, and so on.

Another option for living on the island is renting a villa. They are mainly located in the western and northern parts of the island. There are several options for villas: “Casitas” - small villas, without maintenance and license; and “Luxury” - offering a wide range of services: maid, breakfast, car rental. Operate under license.

Four years ago we traveled to the Spanish island of Mallorca. Actually, I also call it Mallorca. Both names are common, and probably correct. I will call her what he calls her local population- Mallorca.

Mallorca belongs to the Bolearic Islands archipelago. Translated, its name describes the status of the island in the archipelago - the largest. This place has long been inhabited by tourists. Russians have recently mastered Mallorca, but it is becoming increasingly popular. And the main contingent of vacationers on the island are the British, Germans, French and Swiss. The French come here because of the relative cheapness compared to domestic resorts. Representatives of Foggy Albion, the British are running away from the annoying fog, the Germans and Swiss are going to warm up. Of course, not only the mentioned nations come here, the whole of Europe is present here. That is, completely international. According to my observations, this whole “international”, along with the above-mentioned reasons, goes to Mallorca, simply to “have a blast”. Conventionally, they are divided into two groups – young people and middle-aged people. Young people stay in cheap hotels and hostels. In the morning they are not visible on the street, but evening and night, until the morning, are their time. Since the evening they have occupied all drinking establishments. Then they noisily migrate throughout the city, like ants in an anthill. To their credit, the cheerful companies are peaceful and there is no aggression observed. Those who are tolerant of noisy peaceful celebrations... read more

Cost of a holiday in Mallorca. August 2018.

tour cost

Visa 35 euros + visa center services 1078 rubles. I advise you to collect the documents yourself and not pay intermediaries. Visa application form and list necessary documents can be found on the Spain Visa Application Center website. Life hack for those who already had a Schengen visa recently. In line 24, indicate MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA, in line 25, put the number “90”. This increases your chances of getting an annual Schengen visa. Tickets were purchased in February, S7 airline is the only one regular flight from Moscow - 35 thousand rubles. per person (35*2=70 TR). Not cheap, but I pay for my safety and comfort. Upon arrival, a transfer was not required, since we rented a car from "OK rent a car". BMW 1 M sport 2018 with full insurance it cost 250 euros for 5 days (+2 gas stations for 100 euros). The hotel was rented in the party town of Magaluf Melia Calvia Beach -16 km from Palma. The place is amazing, the beach is clean. Beautiful views especially from the hotel restaurant. Hotel for 12 nights for two with breakfast and mind-blowing dinners (booked on Booking in January 2018) cost 200,000 rubles + resort tax 78 Euro + spending on drinks in the bar and at dinner 120 Euros for the entire period of stay. Since by the end of the holiday there was no longer a car, we ordered a transfer from the hotel to the airport - 50 Euros. We had a blast, we could easily get there on a comfortable bus #104, which stops not far from the hotel in the area of the Me Mallorca hotel. It runs every hour. The cost is from 3 to 6 Euros.

Food and products

I'll start with the prices of wine) Prices for wine start from 2.5 Euro. You can find some nice promotions in large stores like Mercadona. I go crazy about Cava anna codorniu (prices from 6 Euros and above depending on the type and place of purchase - more expensive in small shops). A liter bottle of water from 1 Euro to 3-4 Euro. Since lunch was not included, we went to restaurants on the embankment for lunch. 2 salads, 2 steaks with a side dish and pizza + 1 liter of sangria = 50 Euro. But all the time you can get some combo lunches at a fixed price (a la our business lunch), and also just take some snacks - this, of course, will cost less. For example, Tom brown's bar is huge a plate of fried meat, fries + salad + drink = 12 Euro. Not bad at all. In the evening you could sit with a cocktail on some veranda. The price varies from 5 Euro to 15 Euro per glass. If we talk about dinner at the hotel, then, as a rule, this is everywhere in Europe - drinks are not included. And, of course, the price for them is overpriced. At Melia, a bottle of water costs 2.5 Euros, a glass of dry white and red - from 7 Euros, a cocktail - from 10 Euros.

Souvenirs and other goods

Of course, Mallorca can hardly be called a paradise for shopaholics. Probably the only place with clear shops and goods is the capital, Palma. There are two stores of the El Corte Ingles chain. They bought Max Mara jeans for 200 Euros, Calvin Klein bras and panties for 20 and 10 Euros, respectively, Tommy Hilf trousers and a shirt for 30 Euros. My wife also bought a shirt, T-shirt, sweater, windbreaker from Tommy for 200 Euros. As you understand, these are sale prices. After all the purchases, we applied for Tax Free there and received cash immediately. All we had to do was print the forms at customs when leaving and put them in the box. The shopping was not at all impressive: no niche perfumes (Kilian), no normal shoe brands. Massimo dutty was also upsetting. There were practically no items on sale (I went to 3 stores), the new collection was priced the same as in Moscow. About Magaluf, Alcudia (we also visited friends there), I can say to Palmanova that there are mainly essential goods for a beach holiday, i.e. Chinese consumer goods)

Where is the best place to stay?

I can recommend the Hotel Cosmopolitan in Palma, we stayed there. Price for two per day is 116 euros with breakfast and dinner, the food is more than decent, the food is tasty and plentiful. The beach is 3-5 minutes walk. The hotel is new, four stars. Our room was small, with one bed, but comfortable, with a balcony, TV, clean bathroom, and refrigerator. There is a swimming pool on site.

What to do at the resort?

The main party center in Palma in the evenings is the promenade, stretching along the sea. Bars and cafes are open to visitors, there is music everywhere, there are a lot of young people, it’s fun. You can get from the hotel to the center by city bus, the price is 1.15 euros. The center is typical European - polished, well-groomed, with narrow historical streets, fountains, shops, pubs, pharmacies. On a low hill Cathedral 12th century, here Observation deck with sea views. There are many colorful buildings of ancient Spanish architecture. The police in the center, apparently for decoration, are mounted. It seems that she is here more for the entertainment of tourists. It is interesting to visit a water amusement park, stylized as the wild west, with a huge variety of water slides for children and adults.

The beaches are some of the best we have been to. For tens of kilometers there is a wide strip of sand with coarse grayish sand, quite spacious, there is no crush or overcrowding, although there are a lot of people even for June. The beaches are cleaned with special machines, clean and pleasant. The bottom is not deep, the water is azure, clean, entry into the sea is convenient. Umbrellas, sun loungers, changing cabins, showers. Beach games and water activities.

Where can I eat?

A chain of German bakeries - bistros. Located along the embankment. You can have a snack or drink coffee here at any time, tasty, economical, the products are the freshest. The establishment is aimed at Germans and Austrians, of whom there are a lot at the resort. All the staff speaks German, the menu is in German, the cuisine is also mostly German.

How much does it cost to eat? About food prices.

At the bistro, sausages 5 euros, sandwiches 3.50, toast 3.50, baguettes 2.50, salad 4.50 – 7.00, cappuccino 1.60, espresso 1.10, hot chocolate 1.60, large sandwich with baguette and salmon 2.90, spaghetti carbonara 4. Lunch for two – 12 euros , plus 2 euro tip.

Pros of holidays in Mallorca

It’s safe, calm, police are constantly cruising the streets, a police patrol passes every 10 minutes. European civilized, clean, orderly. Completely unguarded charging stations for electric vehicles are no longer uncommon here. Few compatriots. For myself, I consider this a plus. Magnificent beaches, entry to which is free, stunningly beautiful sea.

Mallorca (or Mallorca) is one of the Spanish islands located in the Mediterranean Sea. This is the most big Island Spain, and one of the most popular resorts. Of course, it is difficult to call Mallorca one of the most beloved resorts among our compatriots. Well, Russians don’t see much - Mallorca is terribly beautiful, there is excellent tourism infrastructure, cool beaches, entertainment, attractions - it’s no wonder that Europeans love this island so much.

Of course, you can go to Mallorca at any time, but mostly a friend who misses the gentle sea and sun wants a beach holiday, but it gets really warm on the island somewhere from the end of May. However, in May it will still be cool to swim, so if you want the most complete holiday, fly to Mallorca in July. We’ll talk about how to relax on the island in the second month of summer below.

The island is dominated by a Mediterranean climate, so it experiences dry and hot summers. But it’s hot in a good way: the average daily temperature in July on the island is +28-30°C (however, the thermometer can jump to +33-34°C, but this is much less common). At the same time, temperatures gradually rise towards the end of July, to eventually burst into the August heat.

The nights in Mallorca in July are also warm - on average +22-23°C, so you can walk at night in the same clothes you wear during the day (except that at the beginning of the month it may be a little cooler, just below 20 degrees). Temperatures in July are generally stable, the changes are not shocking. And July in Mallorca is very sunny - in fact, it is the sunniest month of the year. There are almost no cloudy days, with the exception of very rare 1-2 rainy days, which may not even happen. Summer on the island is very dry, but no clouds will upset you. Another pleasant fact is that in July the winds subside, and those who blow from the sea bring only pleasant coolness and help to survive the hottest days.

The Mediterranean Sea from +-23-24°C in the first week by the end of July warms up to +26-27°C - this is a very comfortable temperature for swimming, and it is pleasant to swim in any period of July. In general, the weather in Mallorca in July is super cool: sunshine, warm sea, warm nights, clear sky. Take a suitcase of summer things with you to Mallorca in July - cold snaps are very unlikely, during which you will want to wrap yourself in a sweater.

What to do in Mallorca in July

There are many opportunities for entertainment and excursions on the island, and the weather is not so hot that you “suffer, but go see this temple.” By the way, the history of Mallorca goes back hundreds of years, and the island definitely has something to brag about. The island was once ruled by Carthage, was a pirate base, was besieged by ancient Germanic Vandals, Muslims from North Africa, and one day almost all the islanders died of the plague. In short, there is a lot to tell about the island, and there is a lot to see - with a guide or on your own.

First of all, it is worth visiting the capital of the island, Palma(or Palma de Mallorca). Beautiful city is located in a 20-kilometer bay of the same name. By the way, this bay is considered one of the most beautiful in the whole world! The residents of Palma are lucky!
The city is very old, it was founded, for a moment, in 123 BC. e.! Well, Palma is a pleasant city with narrow medieval streets and squares, ancient houses with typical Spanish patios, as well as modern buildings. It’s especially atmospheric in the Old Town, and one of the most important attractions of the capital is Bellver Castle, “hanging” over the bay on a steep cliff, luxurious gothic castle, built in the 13th-14th centuries as the summer residence of a Spanish king.

If you have time, go to Valdemos, a small village where barely more than two thousand people live. But there are many more tourists here. The fact is that in this village there is one of the most important attractions of the island, Valldemos Monastery 14th century, which gave part of the former cells to museum grounds.

In the city Soller interesting too. The city itself is not on the coast, but the sea is only half an hour’s walk away, and you can get to the coast by the famous Tranvía de Sóller tram, which also connects some of Sóller’s attractions.

The main beauties of Soller - Constitution Square(Plaça Constitució) with cafes and a fountain, Picasso and Joan Miró Museum, Church of Saint Bartomeu(Saint Bartholomew) old Town Hall and an unusual building Banco de Soller(Banco de Sóller), which dates from the mid-13th century. However, strolling through the streets of Soller, where there are no attractions, is also cool. Particularly interesting Gran Via street with buildings in the Art Nouveau style fashionable at the beginning of the 20th century - these luxury houses once built by rich emigrants who arrived in Mallorca.

In addition to architectural attractions, Mallorca also has natural beauty to offer. For example, you can trek in mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana), stretching from the southwest to the northeast of the island. This mountain range is even included in the UNESCO list, it’s so beautiful there! A hike to Serra will appeal even to those who are not particularly fond of mountains and similar outings.
Of course: such gorgeous “photographable” views of the coast, olive groves on the slopes, peaceful sheep grazing in the meadows. The mountains, by the way, are not that high, and the serpentines are not completely crazy, and driving along them is not scary.

Visit and Dragon Cave (Cuevas del Drach), which is located near the town of Porto Cristo. Everything is clear with the dragon: there is a legend that this rock with a cave was once guarded by a very formidable dragon - that’s what they decided to call it. And the cave is interesting for its underground passages, as well as a huge crystal clear lake with warm water (+20°C).

Mysterious Hams caves are located near the Dragon Caves. Interestingly, the name of this cave translates as “fish hook” - because of the cave stalactites, which are shaped like fish hooks.
Rocky formations on the coast have created amazing sea caves, also near Porto Cristo. To view this creation of nature, you will have to travel by boat - it is impossible to get close to the caves by land.

If you have children traveling with you, then take them to the Dolphinarium "Marineland" to the Costa den Blanes or to water parks, which, however, are also loved by adults. For example, water park "Western Park Magaluf"(15 minutes from Palma) or Hidropark Alcudia(in Alcudia).

Adults won’t be bored on the island either, because they work in full force in July clubs, bars and pubs. And the Spaniards know exactly how to cheer up both tourists and local residents! They mostly hang out in areas like Magaluf, Arenal or Paseo Maritimo in Palma.

Holidays and festivals in Mallorca in July

Holidays and festivals are very interesting and allow you to feel the Spanish culture! In the first days of the month, acute symptoms are noted Mare de Deu de la Victoria,

Catholic holiday. First of all, it is celebrated in Alcudia. As the sun sets in the early days of the festival, lavish tables begin to be set in homes and restaurants, drinking a lot and dancing. For two days (which is how long the festival usually lasts), local musical groups perform for guests. And finally, on July 2, a mass is celebrated in the La Victoria chapel, and a traditional sacrifice is brought to the churches of the city - bouquets of daisies. After the religious ceremony, the fun and dancing begin again.

On July 16 you will be able to witness La Verge del Carme, the day of Mallorcan sailors, which is celebrated with parades of ships and boats, as well as evening fireworks over the sea. This day is celebrated in Palma, Port Andratx, Cala Bona, Portocristo and other port cities.

July 20 - Saint Margalida's Day. In Felantice you can see a folk dance festival, in Santa Maria de Cami there are magnificent processions (by the way, Margalida is the patroness of this town, so this holiday is celebrated here most brightly). On July 28, Valldemossa hosts a huge procession in honor of Blessed Catalina Thomas, which starts in the evening at seven o'clock.

Thus, July in Mallorca means a beach holiday, walks, excursions, parties, and holidays - which means your vacation will be top notch!
